Dell :: What Happened To The 900p Screens?
Nov 19, 2009As soon as I'm ready to order a Studio 1557 they took away the 900p screen option.

Does anyone know if the Dell XPS 16 will be getting its RGBLED screen back? I find it kind of strange that they took it out after they introduced the ATI 5730.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI need to tell anyone and everyone before you buy any Dell and there so called WARRENTY.
this is an accually forem post and Dell's reply to me.. I'ts Unbelievable........................................
I got to build a Dell comptuer. I have almsot no choice but for ram and processor.
Every model has only one choice for GPU. Why? It use to be you could build a computer you wanted. Now if you want dedicated GPU you have to go to a Studio and pay 200 bucks more? And if you want a non-suck GPU you have to go to a XPS and pay another 200 bucks.
What happened to modability.. what happened to choice and quality at Dell?
I got to HP and i can choose to get integrated graphics or upgrade to dedicated... why did Dell move away from this? And move into ... if you want this upgrade to a new model and pay 4 times more...
I cant find dv5t regular one on the hpshopping.com/ There is only sepcial edition and that too doesnt have options any dedecated video card. Is HP stopping sales of dv5t?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy RAID failed yesterday and one of the new drives I bought is dead. I only had it for less than a day.
I don't know if it is was the drive or RAID but either way the drive does not work but the connector does so.
I'm most likely going to send a ram module I bought back as I’m unsure the voltages of that ram.
My keyboard also developed a problem. Not all the keys work. I looked at it and the connector is burnt the middle of it. The keyboard connector is what goes into the sound board. I'm not 100% certain how it happened may be it was either the ram or RAID that did that or some other unrelated fluke caused by something else. I kept on powering of and on without logging of in test mode and may be that did it. I'm not a smoker and I never physically did that.
The ram I originally had was 7-10-F1 the ram I bought was a 4GB 7-10-F2. I think what has confused me is that I googled and read that the ram I bought was CL8 when I had originally CL7 it makes no sense to me to me that ram could be CL8 when the first letter is C7?
I put my laptop on my desk like I normally do and it just turned off. I powered it on and it said no OS found. I opened it and the connector looked fine and the KB was ok at that point..................
Dells giving me a laptop replacement, I originally had a 1080p screen but I'm really tempted to downgrade to a 900p screen to get more fps(gaming) on native resolution
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm getting my very first laptop I had it narrowed down to the Dell Inspiron 14 Dell Vostro 1320 and various Blue label best buy options (hp dv4).
Anyway Im close to making a decision except I have an optional upgrade to 900p I can make with the Inspiron 14.
I just want to know if i should make the upgrade to 900p? and would it actually be worth the money? Its like an extra 60 dollars. Does 720p give pretty clear concise hd quality?
I am not very good with resolutions and I tried doing a google search.
I was just trying to figure out if the Dell Studio 1458's 720p LED screen is as good as the 1280 x 800 LED screen on the XPS 13.
Does anyone know if the 900p screen on the inspiron 14 is the same as the one on the studio 14z?
It seems like people here are saying the screen on the 14z is great and I was wondering if the same panel is used in the inspiron 14, as that would be the laptop I'd like to buy.
I have been using my 14z for the past week. The main problem I have with it is that the 1600x900 resolution on a 14" screen is too difficult to see for me.
I have tried to change the resolution setting by choosing the defaults and by creating custom resolutions but any resolution other than 1600x900 is fuzzy and not clear.
Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions?
As per the thread title does anyone know if the Studio 1557 is available with a 900p screen in the UK? It's not listed on the site as an option but I wondered if anyone had asked them as it seems to be available to people ordering in the US.
I think I'll find the 720p screen too low res but I'm concerned that the 1080p will be too high for a 15 inch screen hence the query.
I just had a few Dell Studio 1555 questions. Some were resolved from reading other threads, but others (which I'll ask here) were not.
1) The Dell Studio 1555 can be :
720p = 1280x720
900p = 1600x900
1080p = 1920x1080
Which do you recommend? Are there pictures available to see what the screen would look like? I'll be using this computer for light gaming, mostly schoolwork, and some movie watching.
2) What upgrades do you consider needed for the Dell? Like the Creative sound upgrade for $20 (CDN), or things like that .....
MasterShroom got me to change my mind from 900p to 700p for the Studio 1555 laptop I'm getting. Eventually my mind told me "900p! 900p!". So I made this thread.
Please post a screenshot (print+screen) of your desktop if you have both:
1. Dell Studio 1555, and
2. 720p, 900p, 1080p screen
Please state which screen it is (720, 900, or 1080) and if you want, let us know how you like it
I just got the 720p screen and it looks ok but well, you know, kind of average. The text is not that crisp and the colors don't have too much contrast. I'd like to return it and get the 900p but is it that much better?
Also, is the text going to be much smaller? I spend most of my computer time reading or writing text so having it really small or always having to resize it will be a pain.
I'm gettin a Vaio FW as a replacement to my FZ. The only question I have now is wheter I should get the Xbrite-ECO 1600x900 or the FullHD 1920x1080 screen.
Will the 1920 be too small to actually use? Also my FZ is Xbrite-Hi Color, the sharpness and contrast and colors are VERY important to me that's why I never got an ECO display. Is this 1600x900 "ECO" like all "ECOs"?? (narrower viewing angles, less vibrant colors than Hi Color and so on..)
Or are they the same screen with different resolutions only?
I am trying to find all notebooks with RGB LED screens with at least Full HD resolution from Dell.
So far:
Dell Studio XPS 16 (glossy) 1920x1080
Dell Alienware M17x (glossy) 1920x1200
Dell Precision M6500 1920x1200
I saw that the contrast ratio of the E6500 screen is something like 650 as is the Studio 15 's 1440x900 screen.
Is there a general consensus that these are superior to the 14.1" LED screens? I am led to believe that the T400 and E6400 are using the same Samsung/LG LED screens. I have seen the T400 and sent it right back b/c I got a Samsung screen that looked like milk. It was bad.
Is there a lottery to the Studio 15 and E6500 or will any LG or Samsung or AUO or Chi-Mei panel do? Are you guys pretty much happy with these screens? The notebook check or notebook journal numerical evaluation would put these screens on par with macbook pro, at half the price.
3 different Latitude D810's that we wanted to add some life to. So we purchased 3 SSD drives,
two 64GB IDE/ATA Transcend MLC based units and 1 RiData 16GB SLC IDE/ATAunit. (Yes, the SLC is far faster with writing than the MLC drives).
Using our standard image, everything works fine. Except when removing the power cord from the back of the unit, it goes to a black screen, any hard drive (SSD drive) activity ceases.
When doing the same thing with a traditional hard drive, the screens blip black for a brief moment, but the computer keeps running as expected.
My question is if the early 1545's came with LED's or CCFL's? I see all the 1545's now come with only LED screens.
I ask because on the 'Dell Outlet' it doesn't state if it's a LED screen or not. It just says: "15.6 WXGA Laptop Screen Display with TrueLife"
Anyone know the contrast ratio(and other specs) for the LED screen of the XPS M1330?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of you might now as I posted in my other thread that I'm not sure the screen I received with my refurb'd E6400 is the WXGA+ LED backlit like it promised in the invoice.
The primary reason is is that there is a sticker on the bottom of my laptop that says "Made in Malaysia" and also "Hg" with a circle around it. This is mercury; contained in CCFL backlit screens .....
I am a Thinkpad user but extremely interested in the Dell M4400 and M6400 because of their seemingly better screens. I would love to get details on these screen, most importantly are the IPS ("FlexView")?
Questions:
1. What does "Edge To Edge" mean?
2. What does "RGB" mean?
3. Are any of these screens IPS "FlexView"?
M6400:
17" WUXGA UltraSharp Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Edge To Edge Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution
M4400:
15.4" WUXGA TrueLife RGB LED display (1920x1200) featuring 100% Adobe® Color Gamut
15.4" WUXGA AG day light viewing (1920x1200)
I know when we first got our's we read about the grainy LG Screens and worked hard to avoid it.
Now we are looking to get a replacement system. Has this issue been resolved? Or do we still need to be on the look-out for those bad screens and make a special request not to have the LG ones
I own a dell vostro 1400 laptop.
Just lately its gone a little crazy.
I push the power button in, the post screen would come up but instead of it filling the whole screen, the screen is split into 6 parts. I have 6 of the same image on my screen.
This continues onto the windows loading screen, which after it restarts and does the same thing
I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop I use extensively. Its been reliable and quick. Im receiving blue screens twice per day and have had drivers reinstalled by a support company to no avail. Ive run basics diagnostics with no issues. How can I troubleshoot this?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a new screen - I saw an out fit on ebay that lists the dell inspiron 1300, 1525 and 1505 screen as one and the same.
So I start to hunt and I land here, which links to here which linked me to here:
That outfit's
page lists them all with identical specs and there's like 30!: so my question is, aside form those that are matte vs the glossy are they all the exact same physical dimensions and definitely interchangeable?
Sony should just get rid off ECO screens all together and offer only XBrite HiColor with 2 different resolutions and charge less for the one with lower resolution. It is very frustrating that you have to settle with inferior color if you want lower resolution
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy doesn't Sony have any LED screens on it larger screens? Compared to a MacBook Pro screen, is there a big difference? The MacBook Pro screens are very clear and bright. I was looking at a Sony VGN-FW480J/T. The screen is 1600 X 900. Is this a good screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I got my M1530 today and pretty happy with it overall.
The only thing I don't understand is, I got that wireless remote but I thought there is a pocket on the side of the laptop that I can put the remote in there?
Well, after wiping windows I began the steps to put on Linux. Now I've never had a laptop so I'm not sure if this is a common thing or a problem,
but on the bottom of my LCD screen it seems that the screen is secured too tight to the casing. It gives off a whitish blur at the bottom of the screen only in black displays.
