I just received a M6400 as a replacement for my damaged M90 and other than it having the 4GB of memory it's the most basic configuration. Harddrive is only 150GB.
It'll be used for some internet stuff, some gaming and at times at work running UG-NX.
If you'd be doing any upgrades, what would you do? I've never upgraded a laptop after I've received it and am not quite sure what would be reasonably easy and affordable.
I have an M6400 on the way that I just purchased from the Dell outlet (about 1500 cheaper then buying new with the outlet coupon).
I'm curious if anybody has any idea if the Wireless 410 Bluetooth + Ultra Wide Band Combo is useful at all. It's only about 19 bucks more then the straight bluetooth card so will probably get it anyway.
Also anybody ever transfer a cell card from one laptop to another (hoping to take the one out of my 1720)? It's Verizon so I don't have a SIM card to worry about, and it's a 5720 and Dell lists a Sprint 5720 on the parts page for the M6400 so I am assuming no compatibility issues.
I have a Dell XPS m1710. I'm thinking of upgrading my RAm but....how exactly do you go about doing that? Is it the same with notebooks or would i have to send it back to the manufacturer?
I'm shopping for a new laptop to replace a damaged Dell Inspiron 1300. All I would be using the computer for is web surfing, sending and receiving emails and some Quicken. I'm not a gamer nor am I into digital photography. One thing I do know is since the new computer's OS will be some form of Vista I need to make sure that it has at least 2GB of memory, that part I'm certain of based upon so many comments I've read about memory capacity and Vista.
I'm looking at a Dell Inspiron 1525 to replace my 2 year old Inspiron 1300. Dell offers a Celeron processor as the entry level processor on the 1525 and from there you can choose a dual core processor and then several core 2 duo processors. For basic computing needs on a computer having Vista with 2GB of memory would a Celeron processor be enough of a processor for me or should I spend an extra $50.00 USD for the entry level Dual Core processor offered by Dell?
go ahead, mac my day a Macintosh girl in a Microsoft world

Q&A: is Visual Basic returning to Office:Mac? My post about questions we got at Macworld 2010 raised some questions, one of which was this one:
The biggest question in my mind is: will Office 2011 support visual basic for excel?
Yes. We announced in 2008 that Visual Basic for Applications will return to the next version of Office (you can read the blog post about it here: saying hello (again) to Visual Basic). And it's still true: Office:Mac 2011 will support VBA....
I am thinking of getting the 8600 MBP with 2gb, the basic hard drive, etc. Then replacing the hard drive with the 80gb intel x25-m and selling the the original. This would come out to a few dollars more than the 2.53gb macbook with 4gb and the 320gb hard drive.
I don't need a lot of space because i have multiple terabytes of external media collection hard drives.
Doesn't the 2.4 consume less watts than the 2.53 as well? This would be better for battery life, which I care about.
I want to do a clean Vista install on the above notebook, and if the time comes, restore the setup (OS) to the default config with minimal effort. Read a lot of threads on how to do this, but just need some help/advice on the following.
Currently the HDD partitioned as: 110MB (EISA Config), FAT16 Pri 10GB, RECOVERY (D:), NTFS Pri 136GB, OS (C:), NTFS Pri Act 2.5GB MEDIADIRECT, FAT32
Discs supplied with laptop: Vista Reinstall DVD, Dell Drivers & Utilities, Roxio, Dell MediaDirect
What I want is to do a clean Vista install to the OS (C:) partition (formatting it), but still keep the other partitions in case I have to resell my notebook. My main concern is not being able to restore the factory image back to C .....
What is the best free image editor. Something equivalent to Paint on Windows. I am very surprised OS X doesn't come with a basic image editor because it comes with almost everything else. If it does come with an image point me in the right direction because I can't seem to find it.
Yup me again, in my hunt to determine if M6400 is right for me as it costs just about as much as a used car, I want to make sure its a good investment before I buy it.
What is the main difference with the M6400 and the M6400 Covet?
I configured both with the same specs and the Covet is about $900 more in price?
I tried to recover my PC to factory settings using the CD's that I had created with OneTouch Recovery software. However the recovery failed - perhaps due to scratches in the disk.Â
i am looking to buy a xps m1730 but was wondering if it is upgradeable. can the core 2 duo be upgraded to a quad core?
can i upgrade the memory to 1066mhz ddr3 ram whats the highest i can fit 6 or 8? can the hard drive be upgarded to 1TB 7200rpm if not whats the highest?
I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my E1705. I already bought the 2500FX GPU, and I just want to do it all in one go. However, Dell's website is very confusing. I'm not sure WHAT Ram is compatible with my machine. All the RAM they have listed says 'For so and so computer', and I'm looking to use my Dell Account to buy the parts, So I just need a little help with this. Hopefully exchanging my card and my RAM will fix my NMI: Parity Errors when I'm playing World of Warcraft.
I have changed a setting on this computer and now my sound does not work properly. I dont know what got changed but the windows sound like the bell and the chime take about 10 seconds to play. i can not use windows media player is said the drived is out of date but I checked and the update said I have the most current software. I did try the windows trouble shooter but it couldnot find a problem. I do have beats audio on a dv7-6b63us.
I just bought the Intel X9000 processor and was wondering if the processor alone will improve my graphics processing a little without getting the 8800m GTX card. I really do not want to pay for card with can cost as much as a new laptop. I got the processor under 500 dollars. Right now I installed Batman: Arkham Assylum and it plays good but there is room to get better on the response time. With the existing graphics card the game runs only with a slight lap but nothing that takes away from it. I am sure any online activity will be more prominent.
My Dell Inspiron 6000 (sisters actualy) is 2 months away from its final stage in its 3yr full coverage nd accidental coverage warrenty and before i send it in for a final check over and fix up (nt reali any probs wit it tho) i would like to see what her future upgrade paths are.
I have always noticed that this baby heats up like theres not tommoro and its mostly from the laptop side so is there a specific HDD i can buy that is cooler then the dell ones? size isnt an issue.
Another main issue wel its the only basic issue is heat towords the main air vent and near the ram stick ... is there any mod or fans i can buy to change the current fans with so that the laptop cools better .....
I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Vostro 1000. However, I've been reading conflicting information across the web (including some posts in this forum) which state that the maximum amount of RAM this system can take is 2GB ......
I got the Studio 1555 delivered to me two days back. Now I am thinking that I should have got two following additional upgrades:
1. Wifi 5300 card - I got the default 5100 one. Should I upgrade to the wifi 5300 card? Will it be really worth it. I need to connect to my Wifi router for Internet. Will I be able to connect from more distance if I upgrade to the 5300?
2. HDD 320 7200 RPM - I got the 5400 RPM one. Should I upgrade to the 7200 rpm and will it give better performance? Will games run better on the 7200 rpm one?
I just bought the HP dv7-3165dx-expresso black, because i had to pay bills so i could no longer afford the asus g73jh-a1, but i really do like this laptop but all it said on the best buy website was the memory 4 gb, is expandible to 8 gb. I know a lot of laptops are not upgradeable so i was wondering if i can put ddr3 memory in cuz it's ddr2 right now.. also it has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. Can I upgrade the graphics card?
Here are the specs.

Has anyone ever upgraded a cpu in a dv5t? I have a p8600 and would love swap it for a p9600 (double the cache and 260 mhz speed increase). However the only thing i was able to find for a guide was this video and it looks like a pain in the . [url]
I've been searching around, but haven't found much info on upgrading some components of the 8920...I'll have to admit that my search skills are not top notch...
I'm leaning towards the 8920-6030 model, but there's a few things I'd like changed.
Can the CPU be upgraded? I'm thinking about slapping a T9x00 in there. Maybe a T9500 instead of the T8100. I know the CPU here isn't much of a bottleneck, but I'm a nut.
Can the GPU be upgraded? I looked at the manual that was posted here on the forum, and it showed a "GPU Socket". Does that mean I can pull out the 9500M and stick something like a 8800M GTX in it's place?
1) My processor is a P7350. I want to upgrade to P9400/P8600 in the future. Can I buy these processors in the open market and install it myself? Or do I have to send it to the Acer support office? Will my warranty become void?
2) Can I use XP on the 5930G? Vista and I don't agree.
I have a TT11 with 2GB RAM and i am looking to increase this to 4GB RAM as soon as i find a store in the UK which sells it.
I just wanted to know how much of a difference the extra RAM will make on the TT? I know it will proberbly depend on a number of factors, but i was just after a rough idea.
can i use any of the following RAM for the TT? [url]
