View 15 RepliesI have been having problems with my BD player. When I play a bluray disc i get an error code = 0122 which says that my video card driver is not compatible for blu-ray disc playback or that i am running my computer on clone screen mode. I uwas able to play movies before but now i am having this issue.
View 13 Replies View RelatedThe problem started about a week ago the computer use to just freeze on me like i would be doing work on it and it would just freeze mouse would not move at all. i would have to hold the power button to turn it off.
Then it started freezing will its starting up windows. and finally it does not even turn on anymore. i talked to the comp tech in my school he told me. it might be the motherboard.
If it is the motherboard can i upgrade the cpu also to more powerful one i have the 1.8ghz ?
Things that i have eliminated :
Plugged it to another screen ( didnt work)
If it is the harddrive issue it would boot till it says harddrive error.
video card i will boot in safe mode. its not starting at all.
ram i unplugged the ram and pluged it back and still not booting.
When I press the power button, the led's around the power button will light up and stay on for a few seconds then shut off. The power led on the left side remains lit as does the BT light. If I leave it set for a while, the BT light begins to flash but thats all I get - no diag code or anything. I have already tried removing/disconnecting everything I can think of (HDD, DVD, wireless, modem, BT card, memory, video card even) just to see if I could make it give me a diag code (I know - thats getting desparate). The only one that made it give me a code instead of turning off was removing the memory completely - it gave me the "no memory" code obviously (mute light was solid, vol up and down were flashing steady). But if I put known good memory in it, it doesn't work and if I put its memory in a known good laptop I have no probs. So I went ahead and bought a new motherboard and that didn't fix it (oops). Then I found this site.
View 13 Replies View Relatedmy computer is not starting up. It decided to restart by itself last night after I wanted to preview a music file I was downloading.
When it truns to start, the windows blue screen appears. I try doind a start up repair but it says that it cannot fix the problem.
I try to use system restore and it says that there is no restore point.
The M2010 is considered to be a flagship model.
I must say that for the price I did expect a better graphics card and a better processor upgrade path. With the coming of new models from Dell is this beast being left behind?
The new range of Intel chips could be an opportunity to raise the bar with this design.....is it worth it?
I had to reinstall win xp (media center) at my dell XPS m2010 - everything works fine but the keyboard and mouse stopped working after installing Wireless internal 350 device.
How could i get my laptop to work again? I mean keyboard and mouse. Everything starts up right just that the keyboard wont connect because of the bluettoth driver download.
I have a Dell XPS M2010 which i love....but recently my video card was somehow damaged and as i have warranty i called the technical support on 20th march(friday) nd they said they were gona send me a engineer on tuesday if not they were gona call me nd tell me....
but i did not receive anycall so i took a day off and waited but no1 came. so i called them later that day and they sed they don hav the part so i will have to wait a bit longer for the part and they will let me kno with updates...but i still haven't heard from dem yet nd its my final weeks in uni nd i really need my laptop...they sent me an email sayin that the parts shud arrive by "mid-February" i don kno were febr came from.
I had a motherboard put in not long after I got it in 2007. Then the screen started going blue and saying it was dumping files. If anything is plugged into the USB ports it will not boot right and starts a constant beep. Lately it has been freezing up and the keyboard will not always work. Now when I try to turn it on nothing comes up on the screen while the bluetooth light comes on and the lights on the keyboard flash once. I have called tech numerous times and with it being out of warranty they want to charge $60 just for a phone diagnosis when it won't even do anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSeveral times I have had my M2010 screen freeze and then not come up at all on a reboot. The machine is under warranty and typically they send a tech out with a motherboard which does not fix the problem. Then the tech who pretty much knows its the video card has them send a new video card which does fix the problem and the machine works beautifully again.
However, several months later the card blows again and I have to do the whole process again which knocks out my computer usually when I need it most. Now I keep all my data externally with exceptions of it breaking down (not how I expected it to work).Â
i heard that the m1730 is able to use the Nvidia graphic card 9800 GTX si that true also is the m1730 capable of using ddr 3 memory?..
View 10 Replies View Relatedproblems getting Dell to tell me what I can or can't upgrade. It seems they will only let me replace parts.
Here is what I have:
Dell E1705
Core 2 Duo T5200 1.60Ghz
2 Gig of Ram
100Gig 7200 RPM
Nvidia Go 7800 (Before it was an X1400 but Dell changed it out after a request)
This is a system that replaced my old one through the warranty but I feel the need for more power out of it.
i am looking to buy a xps m1730 but was wondering if it is upgradeable.
can the core 2 duo be upgraded to a quad core?
can i upgrade the memory to 1066mhz ddr3 ram whats the highest i can fit 6 or 8?
can the hard drive be upgarded to 1TB 7200rpm if not whats the highest?
I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my E1705. I already bought the 2500FX GPU, and I just want to do it all in one go. However, Dell's website is very confusing. I'm not sure WHAT Ram is compatible with my machine. All the RAM they have listed says 'For so and so computer', and I'm looking to use my Dell Account to buy the parts, So I just need a little help with this. Hopefully exchanging my card and my RAM will fix my NMI: Parity Errors when I'm playing World of Warcraft.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Intel X9000 processor and was wondering if the processor alone will improve my graphics processing a little without getting the 8800m GTX card. I really do not want to pay for card with can cost as much as a new laptop. I got the processor under 500 dollars. Right now I installed Batman: Arkham Assylum and it plays good but there is room to get better on the response time. With the existing graphics card the game runs only with a slight lap but nothing that takes away from it. I am sure any online activity will be more prominent.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 6000 (sisters actualy) is 2 months away from its final stage in its 3yr full coverage nd accidental coverage warrenty and before i send it in for a final check over and fix up (nt reali any probs wit it tho) i would like to see what her future upgrade paths are.
I have always noticed that this baby heats up like theres not tommoro and its mostly from the laptop side so is there a specific HDD i can buy that is cooler then the dell ones? size isnt an issue.
Another main issue wel its the only basic issue is heat towords the main air vent and near the ram stick ... is there any mod or fans i can buy to change the current fans with so that the laptop cools better .....
I just received a M6400 as a replacement for my damaged M90 and other than it having the 4GB of memory it's the most basic configuration. Harddrive is only 150GB.
It'll be used for some internet stuff, some gaming and at times at work running UG-NX.
If you'd be doing any upgrades, what would you do? I've never upgraded a laptop after I've received it and am not quite sure what would be reasonably easy and affordable.
I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Vostro 1000. However, I've been reading conflicting information across the web (including some posts in this forum) which state that the maximum amount of RAM this system can take is 2GB ......
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an M6400 on the way that I just purchased from the Dell outlet (about 1500 cheaper then buying new with the outlet coupon).
I'm curious if anybody has any idea if the Wireless 410 Bluetooth + Ultra Wide Band Combo is useful at all. It's only about 19 bucks more then the straight bluetooth card so will probably get it anyway.
Also anybody ever transfer a cell card from one laptop to another (hoping to take the one out of my 1720)? It's Verizon so I don't have a SIM card to worry about, and it's a 5720 and Dell lists a Sprint 5720 on the parts page for the M6400 so I am assuming no compatibility issues.
I got the Studio 1555 delivered to me two days back. Now I am thinking that I should have got two following additional upgrades:
1. Wifi 5300 card - I got the default 5100 one.
Should I upgrade to the wifi 5300 card? Will it be really worth it. I need to connect to my Wifi router for Internet. Will I be able to connect from more distance if I upgrade to the 5300?
2. HDD 320 7200 RPM - I got the 5400 RPM one.
Should I upgrade to the 7200 rpm and will it give better performance? Will games run better on the 7200 rpm one?
i'm hoping they are... looking at getting a Studio 1555 from the outlet which comes with Vista Home Premium
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a latitude E6500 with an nVidia Quadro NVS 160M and I was wondering if there are any more gaming-specific cards compatible with this laptop.
I know chances are very small there are any that fit, but I was just wondering.
I can't find anything about graphics card upgrades on
dell site, so I'm assuming its not supported in any way. I should be able to do the upgrade myself.
I just bought the HP dv7-3165dx-expresso black, because i had to pay bills so i could no longer afford the asus g73jh-a1, but i really do like this laptop but all it said on the best buy website was the memory 4 gb, is expandible to 8 gb. I know a lot of laptops are not upgradeable so i was wondering if i can put ddr3 memory in cuz it's ddr2 right now.. also it has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. Can I upgrade the graphics card?

Has anyone ever upgraded a cpu in a dv5t? I have a p8600 and would love swap it for a p9600 (double the cache and 260 mhz speed increase). However the only thing i was able to find for a guide was this video and it looks like a pain in the .

I failed to realise the laptop doesn't use S1 socket

I am putting it on this thread because of the HP AMD Processor owners.
I like to say something potentially interesting to ZM/RM Processor owners.
First remember QL?
It is actually AM2 socket compatible.
Meaning it is possible to load Desktop AM2 Processor onto your laptops someone has done it..............
I've been searching around, but haven't found much info on upgrading some components of the 8920...I'll have to admit that my search skills are not top notch...
I'm leaning towards the 8920-6030 model, but there's a few things I'd like changed.
Can the CPU be upgraded? I'm thinking about slapping a T9x00 in there. Maybe a T9500 instead of the T8100. I know the CPU here isn't much of a bottleneck, but I'm a nut.
Can the GPU be upgraded? I looked at the manual that was posted here on the forum, and it showed a "GPU Socket". Does that mean I can pull out the 9500M and stick something like a 8800M GTX in it's place?
1) My processor is a P7350. I want to upgrade to P9400/P8600 in the future. Can I buy these processors in the open market and install it myself? Or do I have to send it to the Acer support office? Will my warranty become void?
2) Can I use XP on the 5930G? Vista and I don't agree.
I have a TT11 with 2GB RAM and i am looking to increase this to 4GB RAM as soon as i find a store in the UK which sells it.
I just wanted to know how much of a difference the extra RAM will make on the TT? I know it will proberbly depend on a number of factors, but i was just after a rough idea.
can i use any of the following RAM for the TT?

Anyone upgrade to the full 8GB yet? One reference I check says the HDX can accept DDR3
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhat i could upgrade on my laptop,
its currently:
Intel Centrino 2 Core2Duo P8400 2.26Ghz
2 gig DDR2 ram (1 dimms)
250 gig hdd 5400 RPM
Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT 512mb ddr2 graphics
i don't really need a massive hard drive, something for playing games, because im planning to have all my music and documents on a seperate external hard drive so that it takes less time to defrag the laptop and scan for virus's and alike.
