View 9 RepliesI'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Vostro 1000. However, I've been reading conflicting information across the web (including some posts in this forum) which state that the maximum amount of RAM this system can take is 2GB ......
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a new(ish) Aspire 5580-6974 notebook:
Core 2 Duo (T5300) 533 MHz
1GB RAM, etc.
I just bought a 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 dual channel memory kit; that should be a relatively simple upgrade.
I want to eventually upgrade the CPU to the T7600, which is 677 MHz. The intel 945GM chipset should support that, but is it just a matter of dropping in the new CPU? Or are there changes to be made on the motherboard (jumpers, etc)? There doesn't seem to be any such setting options in the BIOS.
I just bought the HP dv7-3165dx-expresso black, because i had to pay bills so i could no longer afford the asus g73jh-a1, but i really do like this laptop but all it said on the best buy website was the memory 4 gb, is expandible to 8 gb. I know a lot of laptops are not upgradeable so i was wondering if i can put ddr3 memory in cuz it's ddr2 right now.. also it has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. Can I upgrade the graphics card?
Here are the specs.

Has anyone ever upgraded a cpu in a dv5t? I have a p8600 and would love swap it for a p9600 (double the cache and 260 mhz speed increase). However the only thing i was able to find for a guide was this video and it looks like a pain in the .

I am putting it on this thread because of the HP AMD Processor owners.
I like to say something potentially interesting to ZM/RM Processor owners.
First remember QL?
It is actually AM2 socket compatible.
Meaning it is possible to load Desktop AM2 Processor onto your laptops someone has done it..............

you have to be very careful with your HP notebook upgrade plans and that, because of BIOS limitations, processor upgrades are “usually” considered limited to what has been offered as OE. While there have been exceptions to this general rule of thumb, they're usually few and far between and risky if you don’t have the big bucks for experimentation. Well, I happen to be at NewEgg looking around a bit and came upon an interesting processor review.
TNO 821 at NewEgg has posted a review after upgrading his DV5t to a Intel P9500 (25w, 2.53GHz, 6MB L2 Cache). I’m not sure, perhaps this processor was actually offered at some time as OE, but it is not however currently listed in the HP Maintenance & Service Guide for this model. Therefore, it seems noteworthy to report that it appears that this processor is an viable upgrade option for DV5t owners so inclined. ….. and perhaps others as well.

I recently purchased a pavillion HDX18. standard configuration as far as I know, see below:
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz
Memory: 4,096MB (2x 2,048 SODIMM)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
Hard drives 2 x 232GB ST9250827ASS
This is a nice system, but I have some spare cash at the moment and am looking to improve it.
What has been suggested sofar is :
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad Processor QX9300 (2.53Hz) for the processor
UpGrading to 2x 4GB DDR2 or DDR3 DIMMs for a total of 8GB.
The graphics card I have been told can not be touched as it is a part of the mother board.
So the only components left where I feel I may get more speed is the drives. Saddly I have sofar been unable to find any information regarding the replacement of the current "disk drives" with solid state ones.
I have the hp dv7-1110eg
How to install XP?
I used 4 different installation discs ...
In alls, show error memory dump ... blue screen ...
A friend just showed me his new Dell Vostro lappy. He has 4 GB of DDR2 800mhz memory on it when compared to my 4 GB of DDR2 667mhz memory on my XPS 1530
However, under his windows experience score - he gets 5.9 score for memory operations while I just get a 5.1. I can't believe that a couple of hundred mhz can result in such a drastic difference.
Is there something optimized for his system but not for mine?
I just purchased a used Elitebook 8540w with i7 quad core and four memory slots (I love it!).  It is running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional  It came with one 4gb memory module and I purchased an additional 4gb module to bring total RAM to 8gb. Â
Â
I have the HP document that shows for two 4gb memory modules, one should be in memory slot 1 and the other in memory slot 3 for correct functioning of dual channel memory. Â All set right?
Â
Not quite.  In the Elitebook 8540w, the primary memory slots under the keyboard are clearly labeled "1" and "2"  However, the expansion memory slots on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labeled "1" and "2"  Opps!  There is no "3" and there is no "4"  In which of the unfilled three slots do I install the second 4gb module for correct functioning of dual channel memory?
i having the Acer TravelMate 6493, originally it have 2GB of Memory. Recently, i have addin additional 2GB, mean that currently the system is having 4GB of Memory.
in the BIOS, showing the system is installed with 4GB of Memory, but when come into the windows, it show 4GB installed (2.90GB Usable) .....
Im looking at getting the P7350 with 2 gigs ram and 9600gt or the p8400 with 2 gigs and 9600gt. The price difference is 40$..is it worth it?? Or should I just save the 40$ and upgrade to 4gigs with the 7350? Both use 64 bit vista.

View 5 Replies View RelatedTrying to upgrade the 512mb memory from my father-in-law's HP ZE5615CA laptop as it is dreadfully slow.
However, I can't seem to find memory anywhere. I tried installing this which worked on my old Dell C640 (which also was said to only take 512mb per slot, but not true) as online it appeared the Ze5615 also used PC2100 RAM ...

However, the laptop didn't recognize it at all.
It appears that the current memory in the slots are 2 256mb Samsung PC2700 DDR2's. This was a shock given that everywhere I've searched has said this laptop uses PC2100.
i was just browsing memory upgrade option for probook 6440b and i found this on hp website [url]
a quick google search gives me this [url]
so im wondering how i would know if a particular third-party memory (which is cheaper) is suitable for a replacemet of the HP one?
it seems like the one on HP website has less information than the one listed on buy.com
I have a m7750n HP Pavilion PC, it comes with 2 gigs of memory. I just purchased a GeForce 9800 gtx+ graphics card and installed it, it uses 1 gig of memory.
When I play games my psychical memory shoots up to almost 100% and have a very low fps. I was wondering if there is a way to improve this. Is my system eligible to get another gig?
I want to put some more memory in my laptop its a Compaq M2305NR. Currently has two 256mb of ddr 333 ram , as far as I know I can only put a max of 1 gig in this machine . Can I add a 512 module with one of the 256mb modules ? Should I get two 512 modules ?
I have seen these modules are they suitable?
My girlfriend has a dv2225nr that I'm refreshing for her. Currently she has 1GB of RAM and I'd like to go to at LEAST 2GB, and preferably 4. Will this sytem accept 4GB of RAM? If not, is it a BIOS limitation?
HP swears it'll only take a max of 1GB of RAM, but I've seen many reports of people using 2GB successfully with it.
I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Does the HP HDX 16t running the Nvidia Geforce GT 130M with 1GB ram run on Gddr2 or Gddr3?
Note that all of the older cards (the 9600m GT) sadly ran on Gddr2.) I just wonder if this newer card has the faster ram.
I've read some threads that the HP DV4T can have up to 8GB memory, but the spec on the HP website says that 4GB is max. So can I upgrade the DV4t to 6GB or 8GB memory? Will they be recognized?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI also have a HP DV800 and i want to upgrade the memory.Currently it has 512 mb, but i'm not pretty sure what is the maximum that i can upgrade.
Is it 1GB or 2GB?
I ask this because one time somebody told me that there are 2 versions (or something like that) of this laptop. One has DDR and other one DDR2. I'm not really familiar with those terms. Can somebody explain to me which one can i do?
I was checking on EBAY, to buy them but i'm not pretty sure:

If you were to upgrade your laptop with dual channel memory, what combination would you use to upgrade to 6GB? Currently, I have a dv8 with 4GB (2x2GB). Would you have a combination of 2GB and 4GB? Wouldn't the ram pieces have to be of the same value and from the same manufacture?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI know the standard for this model is the 667Mhz DDR2, but I was curious if anyone had luck with 800Mhz memory on this model? I would like to upgrade the memory, but in case I cannot find a good deal on the 667 stuff, wondering if the 800 would work (albeit likely at the slower speed).
Also, any one get a quad-core processor working on this model? I know the T9500 is an awesome processor. I'm just curious.
I just bought a new HP laptop and it has 3gb ddr2 memory. It says that the max memory is 4gb, but I was wondering if you can put in say 6gb or 8gb? Reason I ask is because I saw a sony laptop that was essentially the same with the memory being the exception. On the Sony, it came with 4gb and was expandable to 8gb. Oh, and my laptop is running Windows 7 64bit if that matters. If its not possible, Ill just upgrade to 4gb... If you guys could though, maybe tell me what limits a pc's ability to run a certain amount of memory? Mine has 2 slots for memory and I have seen some 4gb sticks for sale, but Im not going to spend the money on something that wont work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to upgrade the laptop memory which originally had one 1GB module in the primary slot, and nothing in the secondary.
I purhased 2GB of DDR memory and installed according to the user manual with no problems. At the time I was running XP Pro, and have now updated to Windows 7. Everything still works very well.
Only problem is, neither XP Pro nor Windows 7 seem to report that I have 2GB of memory installed? only 1GB? was there something I had to change that wasn't mentioned in the manual, like a BIOS etting or something? I thought both Windows versions would automatically detect the upgrade
Sorry if I'm being dumb here, never done this to a laptop before! If you know the answer could you also tell me how please, it would be very much appreciated..thank you
