Internal Dell Wireless 5530 built-in 3G/HSDPA / NO SIM
I have downloaded and installed the correct drivers and also the wireless manager from Sony Ericsson. The problem I am having is with Vodafone. Both my Vodafone SIM cards work perfectly well with my unlocked Vodafone branded USB dongle.
However, these sim cards do not work with the Dell card. When I try my Orange Sim card from my mobile phone it works perfectly. So I know the Dell card works and therefore suspect that I only need to change the settings.
However, I don't have a clue what settings to change-that's where I hope you guys can help! Thanks in advance.
PS. I have a latitude E6500
Dell announced, a few weeks ago, a new replacement for the 57XX and 55XX Mobile Broadband MiniPCIe cards that they are installing as integrated WWAN in select notebooks.
The new Dell Wireless 5600 Mobile Broadband card is based on the Qualcomm Gobi chipset, and therefore supports all major NA carriers (CDMA and GSM/HSPA), and all global UMTS/HSPA bands.
As a result, you can theoretically use this one integrated device on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, O2, Telus, Rogers, Fido, T-Mobile, or any other EVDO or HSPA service globally, just by activating with the provider (CDMA/EVDO) or using the providers SIM card (GSM/HSPA).
I have order an Latitude E4300 from the Dell UK Outlet page. Specs seemed to be perfect: SSD, mobile broadband and so on.
Now, that I have received the machine, the mobile broadband add-on is missing. Description said that it has "WWAN" and, because I was still unsure, I actually asked a representative who told me in a chat (lucky I saved this session) that this machine would definitely have mobile broadband.
There is also one piece of plastic missing at the joint of the display, but it doesn't really affect usability of the notebook. Well, I could live with this .....
i downgradeed my new HP Mini from win7 to xp pro.
but i had a problem now, it seems the system dont recongise when i insert my mobile sim card after i had installed Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers & HP connection manager.
what make things worst, the connection manager actually unable to install complete due to an error msg: no WWAN card found! (Which i did insert)
I did check with the guides/ FAQ in HP site. but i cant find any modem in my device manager.
The only mistake i made is i forgot to check if this part is working in win7 enviroment before i do a downgrade.
Its my first post and i've tried searching but cannot find the info i'm after. I got my Studio XPS13 today and installed Windows 7 64 Bit on it. I have installed all the drivers ok but i cannot get the connection software anywhere to use the WWAN.
Maybe it's late and i'm missing it somewhere but would anybody be able to point me in the right direction.
I was all set to order my CTO Z with Core i7 on sonystyle but it seems that it won't allow me to select the Core i7 unless I also add the $100 Verizon mobile broadband. This seems quite odd as I don't have any interest in the mobile broadband but do want the faster processor. Any way to get around this? I don't want any of the pre-configured models as there are other things I want to tweak.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recieved the W540 a few days ago, and I see there is a slot behind the battery for a SIM card, I tried using my SIM card and I still can't use mobile broadband. Can I use mobile broadband on the W540? do I need any drivers? and if I can't use it, can I buy something like this for the expresscard slot and insert the SIM in the slot behind the battery?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have L440 with 64-bit Win7. Earlier experienced major WiFi connection problems, which were fixed with BIOS and WiFi card driver update.
Briefly after that Wireless Radios Master Control no longer lists Mobile Broadband, it only shows 802.11 Wireless/Wimax and Bluetooth.
Windows Network Connections lists "Mobile Broadband Connection" as "Not connected, N5321 gw Mobile Broadband Driver. Diagnosing this connection suggests to "Turn on mobile broadband capability", which I cannot do as it is not listed in the Wireless Radios Master Control.
I have a t420s and so far I'm happy with it.Recently I purchased a MC7700 card from ebay with lenovo FRU. Everything looks smooth except that I found there is no way to turn on the mobile broadband switch.i believe I have a whitelist-removed bios otherwise it won't boot. The driver downloaded from lenovo website is installed fine, I can see the card working in device manager. I could read the iccid in windows network settings. Everything looks good, but I just can't turn mobile broadband on.
My laptop runs windows 8.1, I heard there is a thinkvantage connectivity tool that might work for windows 7 but not windows 8. I have quite a few files on my laptop and going back to windows 7 is the last option I would like to try.
I have a new X240. It has a sim card slot on the right side. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
it seems that the x240 does not recognize wwan hardware. I can't find it in the device manager. It doesn't connect to any network when I insert a SIM card. Also, no unknown devices show up in the device manager. I installed the following drivers in an attempt to fix the issue:
-Ericsson N5321gw wireless WAN
-Sierra Wireless 7355 - Gobi 5000
... but no success.
I also tried running commands in cmd window to check the status of the wwan:
-netsh mbn sh int
-netsh mbn sh cap int=*
... but I always get the same message: "Mobile Broadband Service (wwansvc) is not running"
I am starting to think that having a sim card slot does not neccessarily mean that the x240 is Mobile Broadband capable.
I need to download drivers for the dell Wireless 5530 Mobile Broadband Built-in Mini-Card.
I have searched various dell sites with no joy! I can find drivers for the 5520 no problem but they won't work. I've had no joy with the vista driver update feature either.
I can't even find them with google!
I have an acer aspire e1-571 g and since last week ,my internet connection (broadband or wireless ,no matter wich i use) drops randomly ..and i can't reconnect untill i restart my laptop..i've tried to change MAC,drop ip,reinstal windows, reinstal drivers of ethernet and wireless,no result.. In our previous residence we had UPC broadband, and I had no problems at all connecting.
I am unable to connect wireless network through my Dell Inspiron 15R(5520) laptop.A red cross sign is shown in front of wireless network name and show the message "This network is not connected with present settings". View 9 Replies View Related1) Notebook Cover -> which is best? black or White?. Will the white get dull and stained over time?, Does the black look like cheapy plastic?. Does the black look like the ones on the black Inspirons because I think those do look nasty?
2) Built-In Broadband card (Wireless 5540 Mobile Broadband HSDPA Mini-Card ) -> how is the reception of these units compared to the USB dongle ones?. Is Access to where they are installed at the bottom of the notebook hence not voiding waranty if i decide to install at a later date? or Am I just better off getting one off ebay at a cheaper price?
I did a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium 32bit and when I was done, I couldn't use the internal evdo card. I installed the driver for the modem, the SmartWi program (both the original and the updated version), and installed the Sony Notebook Control Utilities Bundle but it still doesn't work.
When I try to turn on the sprint modem from within SmartWi, I get an error message: "Hardware switch is off. Please turn ON hardware switch and try again."
I turn that switch on and off and it makes no difference to the sprint connection. I still get that message. Not only that but if I click on "turn off Wireless Lan" in SmartWi, I get the same error message.
What's interesting is that when I turn the hardware switch off, the switch lights turn off and when I turn the hardware switch on, I the lights turn back on - in particular, it shows the WLAN.
So I don't think the problem is really with the Sprint modem. I think that the problem is that the whatever in the software is supposed to communicate with the hardware switch is not working. I just don't know what it is or how to fix it. I spent 3 hours in chat and on the phone with Sony level 2 tech support and they couldn't fix it and kicked it up to the "engineers".
my cousin uses a zoom 5510a usb dsl modem for his broadband. i was able to go on internet through his laptop(vista) till now, but now hes moved out n i thnk he lost the installation cd. i wanted to know if i can find drivers anywhere else? company site only has windows drivers... n also is it possible to covert it into wireless if i buy a different router like belkin or netgear...
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but are the 5720 Broadband cards "locked" to a specific carrier?
Meaning can I give the ESN of the card to either Verizon OR Sprint, and have it work?
Looking to go the cheap route and get a 5720 off eBay, but I don't want to get stuck with a Sprint locked card when I want to use the Verizon service.
I have triedto install the Dell update for my Evdo card on a M1330 running Vista 32bit.
When I run the update the drivers unzip and then begin the install process and then immediately cease and begin a rollback.
I have tried eveything in the book and been on the phone for hours with Dell tech support.
The card works well otherwise but the driver is 2 years old.
Just received my new Macbook Pro (very fast delivery) and on first impressions I'm very impressed with it. The build quality and screen are stunning, and it was definitely worth the extra cash.
I'm trying to set up my broadband connection. I've got an old S@gem modem. I've managed to update the drivers using information from this site, but I'm not able to connect.
Is there an issue with Tiscali and Macs? Will I have to contact Tiscali and get something reset? I've been using the modem for years with my PC without a problem. The drivers seem fine, so I'm wondering if it's a Tiscali issue.
In the last couple of months I've had my cable broadband service go down for a couple of hours to a day or two, then come back up. I thought it was my provider, but then it got progressively worse with almost all pages needing to be reloaded when I surf the web, and then last week my computer will either not recognize ANYTHING on the other end of my ethernet wire, or tells me I have an unidentified network with no connectivity. Since my boyfriend's laptop is working ok with our cable internet, I have to assume it is my computer causing the issue.
Right now I am using dial-up service. No problems getting on, but I am still having to reload pages to connect, no matter whether I am using IE or Firefox or Chrome. The problem is temporarily corrected when I disconnect then reconnect, or reboot the computer, but then it comes back. Also the same for public wi-fi use.
Does it sound like I need a new ethernet/modem card, or could it be an issue with settings or something else? (just to rule out possibilities, yes I have tried different cables, rebooting computer, turning off & unplugging modem and computer and turning back on again, many times, it does no good)
I don't think this problem is directly related, but since the Vista Service Pack 1 came out a few months ago, my laptop won't actually correctly install it, it goes into a reboot loop stuck at 99%. I finally just had to wipe the drive, reinstall Vista again (clean, of course) and not even attempt to update with SP1. My current plan is just to try out Windows 7 when it comes out, and hope that goes better. Are the HP 9700 laptops going to be able to upgrade ok? Anyone been testing the betas?
Anyone else here that has been bitten by the L4D bug? I started playing this game the same day the demo was released, and immediatley bought it when the full game was released. I was hooked.
Not only was it one of the most awesome games out there, my hardware loved it. I could play 1280x800 with everything on high, and blast 80fps on average. Never did I see it drop below 60 fps - dozens of zombies on fire? No problem.
Then the game update came out... Rendering the game unplayable on my hardware. I got hit bad by the performance bug, really bad.
What a great forum! Well well, I've been reading a lot about the M6400 and the M4400. I'm still undecided on what to get. A basic M6400 or a well loaded M4400, but that thread is already up right?
My main question is, what would be the best rig for Linux? For what I've been reading almost everyone is getting these computers because they are the best balance in features and quality while they also serve for gaming. That's why I have decided to narrow my search to these 2 specific models anyway.
Even when these computers come with RHEL 5.2 (Am I right?), I'd be opting for CentOS 5.2 64 bits, which is basically the same. Maybe Ubuntu 8.10 or OpenSUSE 11.1 for all my day-to-day needs and Matlab. Gaming is not that important but its a nice plus.
Who has tried one of those on these machines as hosts (not as Virtual Machines)??? From what I've read, the M4400 is ISV certified while the M6400 uses a desktop chipset to achieve its maximum of 16GB of RAM. Which one is the most reliable, stable, compatible machine .....
Just curious they are both 45nm but the Core i7 is using up 45watts TDP vs the Core 2 Duo only 35watts TDP
any other roadblocks or will it just not fit.
I think the mobile Core i7 has 4 Cores each Hyperthreading they should be very fast.
