Anyone experience this issue? I just woke my laptop up from sleep and noticed the quickset buttons are stuck. The STOP (SQUARE) key is brighter lit than all the other keys and none of the touch sensitive buttons work.
Well, let me explain. When I press the left button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed. And when I press the right button, it detects that BOTH buttons are pressed.
I temporarily got around this by going into the Dell touchpad software and setting the "Both Buttons" to "Click.
I opened up iTunes today and while you are inside it, the touch buttons at the top of the Studio XPS 16 work fine but if you are in firefox, desktop or anywhere else they do not seem to control the music at all? Is there a way to fix this?
I start the laptop.. the lights turn on.. windows loads up.. i press one of the media buttons... it lights up.. stays lit up and stays like that without doing what its suppose to..
I remember reading a thread similar to this a while back but am unable to find it. The fellow had his laptop replaced several times due to the media buttons being too dim when pressed.
I am having the same problem. How bright are your media buttons when you press them? I can barely see them unless I'm right on top of them purposely trying to see what I've pressed.
Is there any way to adjust the brightness of these or am I out of luck? I'm not really in the mood to have the laptop replaced as university classes are about to start back up and I can't be without it.
i purchased laptop vaio vgn-c36mj and the original windows "x64"freezes and i had to format and i downloaded vista x32 and it worked fine but the problem is the touch buttoms aren't working
note:i downloaded all the drivers for x32 from the site and still they don't work and i checked device manager and found nothing not installed and b4 my format there were cool wallpapers vaio and some applications i don't remember from vaio but didn't find them on the site
I have an Inspiron 14z laptop which is just over a year old. Both buttons on the touch pad are very hard to keep down which makes it very difficult to select text.
My laptop is a Studio XPS 1645. I recently uninstalled some surplus programs and seem to also have accidentally uninstalled whatever lights up the touch buttons (e.g. volume control, pause/play, wireless on/off) What program this is and where/how i can get it back?
Is it possible to completely disable the Quick touch buttons at the top of the dv5t keyboard?...I already unistalled quick touch driver...but they still work
I have this laptop Dv7-1110eg.... Vista Ultimate 64bit
Just buy, the video card did not work ... was a hardware problem ... HP came to seek the ... did little more than 10 days ... HP has returned to me the laptop ... and now everything works perfectly, minus the touch volume controls... the play, stop, and other ... activating and deactivating the wireless network...
If turns the volume on the taskbar touch control changes color ... that works, but fingers (touching it) does not work ... Deploying the volume bar in the taskbar and click on the volume control Touch ... volume bar is moved a few millimeters, but always returns to the same place
HP has changed my motherboard for the problem of video ... if I remember that before the touch controls worked lead to perfection ...
Just as I returned the touch controls not working ... trying to solve the problem .... I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit and I downloaded all the drivers here [url] I have installed all ... even update the bios ... touch controls do not work
I installed retail Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on Studio 1537 (the one in the signature) So far whatever I have tested, except the touch buttons, everything works.
I wonder if anyone knows how to get those touch buttons working.
I have a question, isn't there a possibility to change the way how volume increases and decreases. If i press volume button once, then volume increases only 2 points, till 100.
I need to tunr off or remove my wifi touch button from my dv8t. I have spent the last month searching, removing, reinstalling, and skrewing with this laptop to get it off. nothing works. At the moment, my wifi turns itself on and off 28 time a minute on average.
I have already installed the keyboard driver that doesnt have the hp QLB on it. I have also removed the quick launch button drivers.... im at a loss now.
I just got a Acer Aspire V3 771-6605 with Windows 8.1. My touch pad wouldn't scroll or respond to any finger gestures, so I tried installing the ELANTECH and Synaptics touch pad drivers from the acer support site for my laptop. However, after I restarted the computer I keep getting stuck at the screen right before where you put in your password (the lock screen?). The only keys that seem to do anything are the function keys.
I currently own the Studio 14 laptop running on Vista Home Basic 32-bit. I have this problem with missing blue volume as well as brightness bar.
In fact, the Wi-Fi catcher that runs on Quick Set is not working....
My problem is that the QuickSet wouldn't run itself during windows startup eventhough it is enabled in Windows Defender and MSConfig. I really got no idea how can this be happening.
Now, I have to manually click on the QuickSet.exe to enable the bars and function. Imagine something automatic now to be done manually. Cumbersome
Just a quick note to anybody who has been unable to get Quickset to work with Windows 7 Release Candidate. Dell have now made a version of Quickset available for Windows 7. If you go to the dell website for your country, and go to the download drivers page, you will notice that some models of computer now have Windows 7 drivers available.
It doesn't appear to be all computers at this moment in time, and it isn't all drivers either.
If the option is not there for your machine, you could always try the version of Quickset that is on the Dell Inspiron 1545 page. It works fine for me, I now have volume controls appearing on the display once again.
Here is the link for the Inspiron 1545 Windows 7 64 bit drivers:
Inspiron 1545 Windows 7 64bit drivers
No doubt more models will be appearing with Windows 7 drivers over the coming days / weeks.
I have an XPS17 and recently noticed that the "customized by Dell" portion of the Windows Mobility Center no longer works. I was told the bottom info is somehow related to the Quickstart application. You can see in the picture below what it is supposed to look like on the left, and what mine looks like on the right. None of the "customized by Dell" functions work anymore.
Anyone know of a way to make the QuickSet media keys work with iTunes when using another application? Big annoyance to have to navigate back to iTunes when I want to change the song or stop it, though the Win7 Jump List controls help a bit.
I have tried many times and with many methods to fix the pixels, but I am only able to fix it one-by-one, pixel-by-pixel. Is there any way around this? (and BTW its my assigned school computer and is out of warranty)
As I'm sure those of you who installed it are aware, the latest Version of Quickset is now ran on startup as a service. Yay!
However, for me, when it opens it also opens the Windows Mobility Centre on startup. Does anyone know a way to keep QuickSet on startup, but stop the Mobility Centre popping up?
Dell does not release 64-bit Quickset for Vostro 1310 and 1510. The 32-bit ones won't work on 64 bit Vista.
That means you won't know how loud you change your volume, or whether it is muted or not. I tried to install Quickset x64 for other laptops but all shows "unsupported system" during the installation.
The workaround is to download the latest Dell ControlPoint System Manager.
This is the link: Dell ControlPoint System Manager
It is compatible with E4200, E4300 and M6400. However it installs successfully on my Vostro 1310 running on Vista Business x64. The volume indicators works, the mute notification works, change of brightness works. The only drawback is ControlPoint does not work with wifi/BT indicators. You flip the switch and there won't be any indicators for it on the screen.
I acquired a Dell Latitude E5520 that I redid myself and downloaded the drivers from Dell's website. I would like Dell quickset x64 for windows 7. The one I had for my old laptop does not work. I tried googling some but can't find it.
I want to make it so one finger tap would be left click and two finger tap would be right click. Is this possible. If so, how would I go about doing this.
I couldn't find any info on this and seem to have figured this out. On the Dell I got (Studio 1735 / Windows Vista Home Premium), the volume dialogue (the volume slider that appears when you press the up/down volume media touch buttons) showed up in some strange place in the upper left corner. I wanted it in the lower right corner.
So, follow the following steps:
1. Find the Quickset Icon in the icon tray. Right-click it and "Exit".
2. Fire up regedit (Start > Run > regedit).
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDell Computer CorporationQuickSet.
4. Backing up is strongly recommended as when performing any operations with the registry. At least back up the part you are changing. To backup, just rightclick the Quickset node and do "Export" to a file.
5. Find VolumeDlgX and VolumeDlgY keys. These hold the x&y position of the volume dialogue. Change them to whatever you want (note that by default the values are in HEX, but you can change them to decimal when setting them). I used the position of BrightnessDlgX/BrightnessDlgY (the Brightness dialogue which did appear where I wanted it) as reference).
6. Reboot the computer.
Note that if you start Quickset without rebooting, it appears to overwrite the registry values with the ones that were there before the change.
I need those drivers and software. I was looking around but I can't find anything (maybe you had luck). So If it is possible for someone who has already dealt with this to post links, it would be appreciated.
B.T.W - If there is another thread like this, send me messege (with a link of course) and delete this thread...
I just got my new Studio XPS 16, but accidentally disabled the quickset tray icon. I've checked registry and tried reinstalling quickset, but nothing i do can get it back. Is there any other way to do it without having to reinstall my whole computer? (as i've already installed several other programs, it'll be quite some effort).
