Dell :: Yikes: XPS M1530 Remote Won't Go Back In Slot
Apr 27, 2009
I've had my XPS 1530 for 16 months now and haven't really had any issues with it. But on Saturday, I removed the remote control and later tried to replace it, but it just wouldn't go back in. Normally, I just push it in and then it 'locks' in the 'in' position. But I can't push it in to the locked position now... Weird.
If I put the SIM card from my old mobile phone in the back, what will happen? The SIM card is from the Australian telephone company Telstra. Will I be able to access the data on the card?
Will I somehow be able to make cellphone calls? If not, is there a way I can do that?
Is it possible to get the Dell travel remote M09 to work on on the M1530? I have the M08 and that works but olny the buttons in common on the M09 work.
I can't get the MCE button to work or the standby.
If you look here, group 3 dont work or the i button.
I've been looking and can't find any answers. Firstly my laptop specs
xpsm1530 windows 7 ultimate x64 (retail not RC) t9300 cpu 8600m gt gfx card 320gb 7200rpm seagate momentus hdd 4gb ram all the other usual bits with this laptop .....
I have been having some problems with my slot-load drive (TEAC DVW-28SLC). It has been coastering a lot of DVD-DL disks lately and overall it is very slow. I have been reading that they are putting faster drives in the newer M1530's. After a long battle with XPS support, I convinced them to replace the drive. Do you think I will get one of the faster drives or will I be stuck with the same drive? I really don't use it all that much, but when I do want to use it, it is a major pain, especially when it coasters expensive DL-DVD's.
I like the slot load drive, I wouldn't want to go back to the traditional ones. However I've always thought it was a bit rough in the sense that you have to kind of force it in and it makes a lot of noise. Also when you eject it, it kind of 'spits' it out.
I upgraded my M1530 to A11 bios a few days ago. Also had high temperatures, so I rolled back to A09. Still had slightly higher temperatures, but nothing big.
I read about the possibility to upgrade to 64 bit vista, so I got home premium 64 bit edition and started following the installation guides.
I already formatted the partition with media center and started the installation, and the computer shut down in the middle. I think its related to heat problems.
Did anyone encounter a similar problem? Whats my best move from this point (No OS installed etc)?
My keyboard has stopped wanting to type any key back to back without a pause (whether it's a letter or delete or backspace). So if I'm typing a word with two letters that are consecutive, I have to pause or forget and backspace (which I can only do once also without a pause). It's also started this slight click/beep that happens usually in conjunction with the error although sometimes not. And, the click/beep isn't consistent (or at least I haven't found it's rhythm yet).
i saw some pictures that suggest that this unit comes with a remote something like the bluetooth remote offered by dell... but im wondering 3 things... first off does it use bluetooth to work? and secondly does it stick out from the laptop like that other one that dell offers? and lastly can i get it without purchasing a 1330?
i let a friend borrow my m1530 to watch movies one day. when he returned it to me...the remote was stuck in its slot. i'm guessin he tried to squeeze it in the slot, upside down.
i was wonderin if there was a way to take the laptop apart to get to the remote compartment without damaging anything.
i kinda miss havin the remote when i'm listenin to music from far away. if anyone has taken apart their m1530 or know how to, could u please let me know.
Out of the blue today, I received a package from Dell with the accessory kit for my M1530.
I guess I had finally complained enough about not getting it, even though people that ordered it about the same time I did, got theirs.
My only question, is where on the unit can I store the remote. I previously had an HP system where it had an expansion slot on the side that fit the remote perfectly, but I can't remove the little panel on the side of the M1530. Is that where it is supposed to go? Is there a button to push to get that little placeholder out?
I just bought a new Studio 1745 and I was wondering where I can find a remote for it...
Dell wasn't very helpful regarding the issue. I can't even see an infrared eye anywhere but there's gone to be one, right? Anyway, any advice would be appreciated...
I have a Dell XPS M1330. It comes with an IR remote which has a whole load of useful buttons.
I was wondering if there is any software out there which could change the keystroke each button does. I have tried looking for myself but all to no avail!
I know the remote works with Dell QuickSet however, it does not even mention the remote in the QuickSet settings, never mind allowing you to tweak it!
My travel remote isn't working anymore, I think it's because I got a system replacement. Do the remotes get "linked" to the system they are first used with by chance? This is on a SXPS 1645.
I want to use a Universal Remote to control my Dell laptop and my TV in one and since I have a XPS M1530 and one of those media control remotes, I figure I had 3 options:
1 Find a remote that my computer recognizes and/or figure out what buttons do what and pray it works.
2 Find out how to get my computer's IR to recognize a remote and then write drivers or something to do the rest.
3 Purchase IR sensor bar or something and do it that way.
it looks like my XPS 1645 didn't come with a media remote like my old 1530 did. Is it possible to use the remote in the 1645?
It looks like the SXPS does have an IR receiver so I would think that it would be, but I'm not sure what sort of software I would need or how that would work.
this is very handy while use it during playing the media. now i want to use it to control the mouse pointer to browse files with ease. is it possible? if possible how?
Im after a remote control for my studio 17, but im not sure where i should look! Iv tried searching for similar threads but didn't come across many so decided to ask here. ZDFDSFSF Iv found this one on ebay, but it doesn't recharge from the slot. Are there any versions which do? if not how long does the battery last? and finally, will that remote be suitable for my 1737
Is it possible to remote turn on the laptop Dell Latitude e6400 ?
I understand the concept of the magic packet. My question is in which state do I have to turn off my laptop in order to have the Wake up on LAN working ?
I got my m1730 in the mail a week ago or so, and its awesome of course. But all the reviews I saw of them state that it has a remote that fits nicely into the
expresscard slot. But no where on the dell site does it allow me to buy one, nor did it allow me to add one to my configuration when i purchased the laptop. Did Dell stop offering the expresscard remote?
I have formatted the hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate and all of the drivers including Media Direct and Quickset. DSFDSFDSF But, the remote control no longer works. DSFSDDF It worked before with the OEM software. DFDSFDSF There are no bangs in the device manager so I can't imagine I am missing a driver.
ive being having problems with make the remote control or the touch-sensitive control to work with any program other than MCE. What im looking for is them to work within other programs like VLC, foobar(winamp/itunes). the detail here is that those programs needs to be running in background
I have a Studio XPS 13 (aka. 1340) but Im sure this would probably be relevant for Studio XPS 16 owners as well. On the front of the system, you will notice an IR receiver which is meant to go with the Dell IR remote (which I didnt order). In the device manager, it appears as a generic Infrared HID device.
I am just wondering if anyone has been able to successfully get their Studio XPS working with an IR remote? Maybe with a Windows Media Center remote control, or perhaps get it to recognize/learn from a typical remote control you might have laying around?
I ordered a Dell Travel Remote M'08 a while back and I received it yesterday. The problem is that I can't get it to work at all. I have checked the battery and it's .....
