View 10 RepliesAnyone using a remote control with their M6400 for music, video, or powerpoint talks?
Make/model?
Also, Touchpad Speed setting is never saved in the Touchpad Settings on my M6400.
I have bought DELL XPS M1530 Q3 laptop, formatted and reinstal Vista Home Premium which is given.
But now, I can't use my remote control.
I have installed Thomson Remote Control Driver from dellsupport page.
But it doesn't work. What can u suggest.
10x a lot.
Im after a remote control for my studio 17, but im not sure where i should look! Iv tried searching for similar threads but didn't come across many so decided to ask here.

Iv found this one on ebay, but it doesn't recharge from the slot. Are there any versions which do? if not how long does the battery last? and finally, will that remote be suitable for my 1737

I have formatted the hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate and all of the drivers including Media Direct and Quickset.

But, the remote control no longer works.

It worked before with the OEM software.

There are no bangs in the device manager so I can't imagine I am missing a driver.
I just bought a new dv6 on black friday from staples, the dv6-1334 with a t4300/4gb ram.
Is anyone having trouble inserting their remote control into the slot on the left side of the laptop? My remote won't really fit...i can get it about 90% of the way in, but when i push to click it in/click it out, its like its stuck with sticky goo or something, it goes in really slowly to lock in place and comes out really slowly when i click it out of place.
Other than the media remote control issue, I'm liking this ALOT more than my tx2500 tablet with better cpu and graphics/video card.
I contact you because I bought a Dell Studio 1735 a while ago and since I dont like Windows Vista I changed the OS to XP. Reading this forum I managed to make everything work, Wifi, TouchPad, Video, Sound which was a Sound Blaster Audigy not the one that comes in the Std Studio model and everything else BUT the remote control.
I installed the drivers for the IR port from [url]and it says the device is working properly, yet the remote is not functional.
Has anyone been able to make the device work under XP?
i have studio 1537 - windows 7 and my REMOTE CONTROL : TRAVEL REMOTE CONTROL E dont work, is there any drivers to install or i need aplication?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNone of the Vaio notebooks have IR Remote Control which I feel is very useful and has become standard since long in notebooks of other manufacturers, still I have not found anyone complaining about it in this forum. Does no one here miss the lack of it in their Vaios?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought one of these monsters a couple of months ago. Downgraded (?) it to XP pro sp3 and got everything working except the IR remote control.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my HP DV7-1285dx with Vista (64) the remote control that came with it was working fine. I upgraded to the Windows 7 beta when it came out (I didn't do a clean install) and the remote was still working and kept working throughout the several beta upgrades I did later (to newer beta versions). However when the Windows 7 RC was released earlier this week I decided to do a clean install so I backed up the important drivers and files and did a clean Windows 7 install. After that my HP remote simply stopped working, the laptop won't respond to it at all (not in Media Center and not in anything else). I was able to reinstall all the drivers (from the backup) except for one which shows as "Unknown driver" in Device Manager, and when I do a driver update and point Windows to the folder including my backed up drivers, it does recognize the device as the "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor" but says it encountered an error installing the driver software since it "couldn't find the file specified."
I don't know if this "Unknown driver" is in anyway connected to the Remote Control problem. I have no other problems showing in device manager by the way.
Also in an unrelated matter, I am trying to reinstall the MediaSmart software the came with the laptop. I downloaded the packages from the HP website but they won't install (since they're only update packages and not standalone installers I guess) so is there any way to reinstall the MediaSmart software from the recovery discs/partition?
I've just received the remote control I ordered via eBay from a US seller and immediately tried it out. However, it doesn't seem to be working.
First thing I did was trying to pair it by holding the menu and forward button for 5 seconds, multiple times. The problem is, it doesn't seem to get paired.
I'm In the process of successfully downgrading to XP Pro on this AMD machine
I've got all the drivers accounted for in the device manager section, took a while to do but got there in the end!
Now I want to find a way of:
1) Getting the remote control to work with Quickplay - ie turn laptop on/off etc
with it
As i recall early reviews mentioned the inclusion of a WinTV Nova Integrated DVB-T Tuner. watching recent video reviews of the 1640, however..
i have noticed that the right side of the chassis seems to be absent of the antenna outlet. has this feature been removed?? because i had really been looking to make use of it...
I've order my XPS 16 with i5! Comes mid-Feb, but I was told that I can't hae the interal TV tuner as there are compatibility issues.
So basically I need an alternative external one for a good price £50 or less.
If I chose not to get the tuner card in the system when I customise it, does it not have the ugly rubber port on the left hand side? Now that they have started charging for the tuner I think it's better off me just getting a usb tuner because then it frees up slots inside and I can take it out whenever I want and use it on any computer.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Studio 1747 from Dell online. On the left side, I have a tv tuner port.
I have tried hooking up an antenna but Windows Media Center does not detect a tv tuner on this laptop.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? or did dell not install the tuner? or is it a dummy port?
I have read a few places that you can get a tv tuner on the xps 1640, however when I go to dell's site to customize it there doesn't seem to be an option for one.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to understand how to use this with my ATI 4650 HD Mobility Radeon Card,
but it says it's not supported, something about an unsigned driver during install "rivatuner.sys"
I would like to bump my Freq up on the GPU a bit and lock it down. But I am very confused by the instructions and what to do.
Anyways with the new digital over the air tv signal, I heard its very clear quality and was wondering, is there a good expresscard that does the job well for tv over the air? Bonus points if the AV is in sync for game systems.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo i did a little searching about TV Tuners, but i'm still a little bewildered on the topic. I basically need someone to clear up some questions I have about TV tuners. Here are a few questions:
What channels do the "antennas" that come with some tuners pick up? The same as good ol fashion bunny ears would?
If I just had a coaxial cable coming from the wall or cable box (and a functioning cable outlet) could i just connect that to the tv tuner (with the right converter) and get the basic cable channels that you would if you connected that coaxial cable straight to a tv?
If/when this option is available in the US, aren't chances high that the component will overheat/burn-out over time?
The reason I ask is that almost all "usb stick" tuners have heat issues and develop issues over time.
Is it clear yet whether the proposed tuner will be integrated chip (soldered) or socketed somehow and replaceable?
I didn't order mine from HP , but I'm thinking of install one. Is the internal tuner more convenient? I have read some promising review about aftermarket tuners.
Also the point where the tv logo is, is covered Is there a pin connection underneath or does tht have to be purchased? Can this be removed easily for connection to cable input? I'd like to be able to use this notebook as a DVR.
I know that this is a noobish question, but how do I actually use the acer 6920g built in TV Tuner? I have never used it before.
On the side of my laptop there is a USB port just for the TV tuner but i'm not really sure how to work it and what it actually does.
Is it used to record TV programmes and what software will I need to make it function?
I'm trying to get my HP Tv tuner to work right with my dv7 laptop. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight.
First off, either Quickplay doesn't read the tuner at all, or I'm not setting it up right. In the Quickplay TV area, I get no option to view live tv (although I see the option on the left side) and it merely provides a promotional image to buy the tuner.
For Media Center, it works. However its unbelievably complicated to go through channels.
First of all, EVERY SINGLE *point* digital channel (like 4.2, 7.3, 18.2, etc) doesn't come in automatically aside from the .1's. That means I have to manually add every single other channel. Is that normal? Second, all those digital channels are high definition yet they show up in 4:3. Why is that? Third, though this one isn't a big deal, all the channels are listed in the thousands, making it very confusing.
I'm interested in getting a TV tuner for this Laptop. I have been looking at the following models.
Laptop has T7250 2.00 GHz CPU, 4gb ram, 500gb HD, Running Windows 7
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1950 Hybrid Video Recorder 1192
AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid NanoExpress MTVHBNOER ExpressCard / 54mm
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1500 Notebook Express Card MC Kit 1193
i have the DV6-2044CA and i was wondering how could i find out if i have a TV tuner or not, other than searching up specs online
