Sep 9, 2014I want to get a x200 tablet (7453-AH3) just for programming classes, but wonder whether x200 will run VS2013 with win8.1 well, such as response speed, smooth or not, a lot lags or not, etc.. Also, will OneNote work well on it?
If I put a SSD in, will that make it better? If not, is that possible to upgrade X200 tablet motherboard & CPU to make it better?
Lenovo X / Helix Tablet :: Cursor Moves When In Tablet Mode (screen Touching Pointing Stick On X220T)
Jun 12, 2011When I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.
Dell Latitude 10 :: Tablet Is Not Booting To USB
Jan 29, 2013I recently received my Dell Latitude 10 Tablet. I have created a USB install of Windows 8 Pro. The tablet cannot boot to USB. I have tried multiple USB drives and have verified the drives will boot on my Latitude laptop. I have verified USB boot is enabled in the BIOS. When pressing f12 for boot options USB is not an option. When entering the BIOS setup it is not listed as a boot device either. Clicking add boot device does not show it either. I've tried using the USB port on the table and the USB ports on the productivity dock. I have also tried creating the install on a SD card, that does not show as an available boot device either. The bios has been upgraded to A03 and I'm running version 9.14.3.1099, A04 of the clovertrail chipset.

Dell XPS 12 :: Touchpad Not Recognized When Booting In Tablet Mode
Apr 14, 2013I recently had to realize that the touchpad is not recognized when booting in tablet mode.
As I noticed the keyboard and touchpad are disabled when the screen is turned around or just tilted out of the latching, is there a way to enable them again - perhaps a BIOS setting or update?
I think it would be in advantage if keyboard and pad stay active when the screen is rotated e.g. if there is not much space to tilt the lid, then the screen-unit could be tilted in the frame for a better viewing angle.

Jul 23, 2014When I fold the screen back and use the laptop in "tablet mode", the keyboard automatically get disabled but the touchpad does not. I have tried looking in the mouse and touchpad settings to no avail and it is very frustrating!

I'd like to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition on it but unfortunately the tablet didn't come with any discs. I have a working Windows XP Pro Volume License disc and serial number but I've read that you need a specific Tablet PC disc which you have to purchase as an OEM version. I've heard that you can change the PID in the setupp.ini to make the Windows setup think it's a Tablet PC disc but accept a VLK -has anyone done this and confirmed that it works?

HP/Compaq :: Naming Convention On Tablet Pc
Apr 29, 2009Recently I wanted to buy an HP tablet pc since it seemed to me to be the cheapest available to try and see if a tablet pc could help me out in what I'm going to do: an animated thesis that will require a lot of painting.
So I did a bit of research and found out that the newest model they carry doesn't support a lot of professional programs (ex.photoshop) only to add a multi-touch experience. Unfortunately I think this is a very poor choice from HP so I set to find a previous model that had the digitizer that I seek.
It seems to me the previous model with wacom technology is the HP pavilion TX2600, which in turns has a LOT of flavours: 2622, 2635, 2640... etc up to 2650 (it seems). Each of this versions has another subversion like: US, EW, EG, etc...
What is going on? The specks of some of this models are basically the same, but what is the difference? Which one is the latest one that I should try to find?

May 9, 2008I just intalled a new disk that is running quite well, except that I cannot run xpmode. I get the warning that I need to alter the bios, but not setting exists on the chip to alter it for virtualization. Why could it run before on the same chip, but no longer. Is there a workaround. Is there a way to copy the settings from the old hard drive? I suspect not, but I am sometimes an optimist.

Jan 12, 2015My Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop, after having the screen and hinges replaced due to other problems (ghost touches), now won't auto rotate the screen when in tablet mode. The keyboard is also functional when the screen is pushed back past 90 degrees, so when the keyboard is on my laptop but the screen is facing me. This doesn't happen in true tablet mode however.I've tried reinstalling all of the up-to-date drivers; chipset, BIOS, along with the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver.
There are a number of issues I can highlight that stop this from working;
1) in device manager there is no entry for ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, nor Accelerometer or anything I presume makes this function work. There is a Sensors collection, but nothing in there I think is it,. There is also no 'Unknown' device listed.
2) I should see PopUp_DM.exe in the running services and in the startup selection of programs. This is nowhere to be seen.
3) I don't appear to have a "Sensors" applet
4) when I choose 'Normal Startup' in msconfig & then reboot, it goes back to the bottom option, Selective startup. Is this something I need to do via the Dell BIOS Advanced Options?
Other than doing a full restore, which I loathe to do again as already prompted by Dell previous to this issue, what can I do? A bit worried that when Dell replaced my screen they didn't refit or include the accelerometer!

when turning on the power button, i see LEDs on keyboard and around (but not the HHD led), no activities at all. the LCD is totally black/blank. nothing ever appeared on the LCD. so, is the tablet dead?

Jan 10, 2014My function key is always on so that I have to press it when I want it to be off. An example of this would be that I have to hit Fn+Alt+F4 if I want to close a window. I believe this has to do with me downloading a BIOS update for Windows 8 but I cannot find how to disable it.

I have created the special 8gb partition. I have installed RapidStart drivers app and enabled RapidStart. At first it works - i put helix to sleep, and i can see after some time that the led stops flashing so the tablet goes to hibernation. However, after lying some time it wakes up again, and stays in sleep mode, and not hibernated mode, and thus, eventually runs out of battery.

Oct 4, 2014I am having a problem with a ThinkPad Helix and was looking for some advice on the troubleshooting process. The tablet was dropped and it suffered some damage. When I received the tablet I noticed that it still powered on but there was no video. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the monitor is still displaying video but it is very dim. When I shine a flashlight to the monitor I can see the windows logon screen and the touch panel recognizes me tapping the screen.
The first thing that I tried was replacing the cables that connect the monitor to the motherboard as some of them looked like they had forcefully been removed. This had no effect on the issue as the monitor was still very dim when I powered it on.
I thought that the monitor was the problem and decided to replace the entire screen assembly. I was able to get another monitor that matched the part number of mine and swapped it with the old one. When I turned it on after swapping the monitor I stil the had a very dim screen. If it wasn't the monitor or the cables that connect the monitor to the motherboard then the only thing that was left was the motherboard.
Again, I found a replacement motherboard for the unit and swapped it. When I powered it on I still had the same issue as before, very dim video. It doesn't look like the thinkpad helix has an lcd inverter or I would have tried replacing that first.

Jun 4, 2013When I start my X201 Tablet, I always get a Fan error message.
I used compressed air - then it worked for a couple of days, but not anymore.
When I take of the keyboard, I see that the fan is starting to spin, but suddendly stops right before the error message.
Should I replace the fan, or might it be a problem with the motherboard - and how am I then able to fix it?

Sep 25, 2014There is a major issue here with Dell's Touchpad drivers, they simply do not work. Anytime I try to use the Touchpad the mouse goes flying all over the place and is completely useless. Whenever the screen is folded back into tablet mode--they keyboard will not lock.
Have been on phone with Dell for hours on this with no resolve. There are a lot of people complaining about the same thing, Dell doesn't see to understand this.

Apr 26, 2013I just did a BIOS update the other day. No idea what version it is. When I booted it said it "detection error on HDD...". I have since reset the BIOS options to default, and now it boots to a DOS-like boot screen that shows the ATA HDD0 drive. But selecting it and hitting enter just flashes the screen and nothing happens.
When I attach a USB thumb drive with Linux, it shows up in the options on the DOS-like boot screen, but selecting it won't boot from it.The laptop is now totally uselss and I'm losing days of time and it's a major problem.

Aug 14, 2014About 6 months ago I bought a ThinkPad 230t and the battery usually lasts 5-6 hours. Since a few days ago whenever it is on the battery the CPU starts to overheat with a noticeable fan noise and the battery does not last longer than 2.5 hours. There is a significant high CPU usage when the battery is on (even if the adaptor is connected). The battery does not heat itself at all. Only when I remove the battery the overheating stops. I could not find any program in the task manager which is causing this and I updated all the drivers and BIOS but no change so far on this issue.

Dec 3, 2011I have an X220 with a WWAN card. I don't use it anymore so I will be switching it out for an MSATA. I will then have two spare large antennas. I know that sometimes you want to match antenna size to wavelenght and sometimes you just want a big atenna. If in wifi, you just want it bigger, well, the WWAN antennas are bigger. Should I swap the wires so my wifi gets the bigger antennas?
