I have a dv7-1020us, I'm needing to replace the tv antenna that came with it.
Dunno if they're all alike... but here is an image of what the side of mine looks like, where the antenna plugs into the yellow jack.

AMD Turion X2 RM-72 - How does it fare in the notebook arena? I had decided to invest on a laptop with the above processor, but many are advising against opting for the laptop, because according to them "AMD heats up pretty fast and will ruin the laptop"
The laptop is question is HP Pavilion dv5-1203ax [url]

i'm having major heat problems with my DV4 1220US, If I let my CPU use 100% it shoots up to 80+c on Idle, 105c Under load. The HDD is usually over 55c idle, 65+ under load.
It's ridiculous considering how cool it is in my apartment, and how I balance the laptop on my right leg, with the whole left side uncovered and allowed to freely vent air.
I made a power profile that locks the CPU at 75% this helps majorly, however the Default "low power" setting @ 50% is impossible to use this computer with.
Is this because AMD processors suck? Could that be why the C2D version of this laptop with identical specs costs $200 more?
I tried to undervolt it with RMClock but it wouldn't let me change anything. There is supposed to be an advanced tab for messing with the voltage but it wasn't there. I was using the latest version of the program, and had all my drivers up to date with a super fresh install of Vista.
Is there anything special I need to do to get the program to work with a Turion X2 RM-72?

I was thinking about getting one of these laptops but I'm kind of concerned about heating issues that seem to have bothered turion laptops?
Also, does it have space to let you add a secondary hard drive?

I was wondering how does this CPU compare to the Intel line-up.
I could not find any benchmarks that compare it head to head.
So would it be equivalent to T6600 or P7450 C2Dou's series?
AMD Turion Ultra ZM-82 "Griffin" 65nm
Frequency: 2200 MHz
L2 Cache: 2 x 1 MB
Hyper Transport: 1800 MHz

I have a Compaq V6310US with the Turion TL-50 (64 X2 1.6 GHz), I have already sent it in for a new systemboard under HP's recall.
I use CPU-Z HWMonitor to monitor temps, here are my average LOAD temps (HL2/Counter-Strike:Source ~1 hour play time) with and without chill mat.
Without Chill Mat:
THRM: 79C
Core 0: 78C
Core 1: 85C
GPU: 98C
With Chill Mat:
THRM: 77C
Core 0: 75C
Core 1: 82C
GPU: 94C
Idle for both is more around ~30/25/35/58.
I get absolutely no signs of overheating during play. Are these acceptable temps or am I going to fry the GPU (or CPU) again in another year?
Especially the temps without the mat? I don't always use it because the temps are pretty similar with and without it anyway. Also, anyone knows what the THRM temp is exactly?

I am looking to buy a laptop and have zeroed in on these two:
[url]
[url]
They have everything in common except the processor.
2005ax has AMD Turion™ II M500 2.20GHz 1MB L2 cache
1308tx has ntel® Core™2 Duo T6600 2.20 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB
and the difference in their prices, here in India is Rs. 5000 i.e roughly $100.
I have never used an AMD powered PC. Are their any software or hardware compatibility issues with AMDs? Any reason why I should go with the Intel box?

I was wondering if the new Neo X2 chips in the dv2z are a big improvement over the original Athlon Neo MV-40 single core. IIRC All three are clocked at 1.6 ghz and the single core and dual core Athlon Neo have the same amount of cache (512k) but the Turion has 1mb. I'm up in canada and am considering getting a dv2 to play some older games on, and the dual cores are not yet availible up here, so I am wondering if its going to be worth waiting for the dual cores to become availible up here or should I just go ahead and get one with an MV-40. I already know I am going to be getting one with the HD3410 graphics (not even going to try to game on the X1250, although its probably better than just about everything Intels got out there...).

For about a year, I've had an SDXC card in the built-in card reader of my Folio 13-1020us.Â
Â
It's been working fine until a couple days ago. Then something I was downloading to it failed to complete, which is how I noticed that it had stopped working. Now, it doesn't appear in drives under My Computer, and it doesn't appear in Device Manager.
Â
In an older HP laptop, I can at least see the card's drive letter and the name I gave it, so I think the card itself must be fine. But I can't see anything at all when I place it in the Folio.
Â
I have a feeling the reader itself has just failed. I'm out of warranty by just a few months. Do I have to extend my warranty and send it in to get it fixed? I do not want to use an external reader because I use the card as extra storage space.
Â
Operating system: Windows 7
SD card: PNY brand, 64GB SDXC

I want to get a x200 tablet (7453-AH3) just for programming classes, but wonder whether x200 will run VS2013 with win8.1 well, such as response speed, smooth or not, a lot lags or not, etc.. Also, will OneNote work well on it?
Â
If I put a SSD in, will that make it better? If not, is that possible to upgrade X200 tablet motherboard & CPU to make it better?

When I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Â
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.

I've recently bought myself a new HP tc4200 Tablet PC which doesn't come with an operating system. I'd like to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition on it but unfortunately the tablet didn't come with any discs. I have a working Windows XP Pro Volume License disc and serial number but I've read that you need a specific Tablet PC disc which you have to purchase as an OEM version. I've heard that you can change the PID in the setupp.ini to make the Windows setup think it's a Tablet PC disc but accept a VLK -has anyone done this and confirmed that it works?

Recently I wanted to buy an HP tablet pc since it seemed to me to be the cheapest available to try and see if a tablet pc could help me out in what I'm going to do: an animated thesis that will require a lot of painting.
So I did a bit of research and found out that the newest model they carry doesn't support a lot of professional programs (ex.photoshop) only to add a multi-touch experience. Unfortunately I think this is a very poor choice from HP so I set to find a previous model that had the digitizer that I seek.
It seems to me the previous model with wacom technology is the HP pavilion TX2600, which in turns has a LOT of flavours: 2622, 2635, 2640... etc up to 2650 (it seems). Each of this versions has another subversion like: US, EW, EG, etc...
What is going on? The specks of some of this models are basically the same, but what is the difference? Which one is the latest one that I should try to find?

Has anyone used or owned an HP TX25xx?
Are they any good?
How easy is the screen to see outside or in a vehicle where its bright?
Does the touchscreen work ok with fingers or do you always need to use the pen?

I am at my wits end with my e1705. I had a sudden meltdown about 2 weeks ago... screen went scrambled, BSOD,etc...
Performed diagnostic, memory on video card came back as bad. Replaced with new card (from Dell), reinstalled OS, completely reinstalled nVidea drivers from Dell (Used driver cleaner too)...
Everything went smooth for a couple hours after this was completed yesterday (full diagnostic showed no errors), but after booting up today, after about 5 or 10 minutes of use screen freezes and turns either solid cyan or black... a small pattern of thin lines appears also.

The 500GB HD in my DV7t just died. It's definitely dead, as I pulled it out and tested it in a caddy. When the computer goes to initialize the drive, it gets an error in the I/O device. I still believe I'm under my one year warranty from HP. Does it cover dead harddrives? And if so, do they require that I send in the dead drive? I work for a small business, though my boss has a rather strict data policy - all broken, dead, unused or outdated drives are to be turned into them for proper destruction prior to sale, refurbishment or replacement. Even when we send our laptops off for repairs, there are 'stock' harddrives we place in them that have never had sensitive company data on them. A bit paranoid, definitely, but it's company policy.

A friend of my g/f gave me her computer to fix. She said she took it to Best Buy and they said her HD is messed up. Now, if I order a new drive and the restore disks from HP, will that fix this issue? She is not worred about losing any data. Is my thinking correct? Install new HD, put in restore disks, start it up and follow the directions.

I purchased this dv5t laptop back in June 2008, and it has always been reliable. I just came back home from work & now I can't even turn the darn thing on. If I hold the power on button nothing happens. The Ac adapter is still working & I've tried taking out the battery, but that didn't help.

I have an HP dv5t which I purchased new last October. A couple of weeks ago, my HD got fried (think it overheated). HP sent me a new HD, and I had a technician install it for me. I never made recovery disks as instructed by HP (was gonna get around to it; who knew the HD would die in 9 mos?). The tech ended up installing Vista Ultimate Lite instead, which I thought was okay b/c there's no bloatware that way. However, I miss a lot of the elements of the Aero environment, particularly Windows DVD Maker.
I have two questions:
1. Can I get backup CDs from HP to reinstall Vista Home Premium (which is what my lappie was shipped with)? Would doing so reinstall the bloatware?
2. Is there a way to tweak Vista Ultimate Lite so I can have the standard GUI w/o putting bloatware back in my system? The environment in Ultimate Lite reminds me too much of XP (clunky-looking windows, fonts are too large, etc).
