View 7 RepliesI own an XPS M1530 with a WXGA+ screen. My wife has a Studio 15 with a WXGA TL (CCFL) screen.
Why does dust seem to stick to the screen much more and faster on the Studio than on my XPS?
we use both laptops on the same environment... has the screen type have something to do with this?
i just got my Studio XPS 16 in from the dell outlet. it looks perfect other then the fact that between the glass and the screen there are 2 small marks that are not dead or stuck pixels.
i have one on the upper right and the other thats right in the middle. i was wondering if there was a way of fixing this as its anyouing the heck out of me
Recieved my Studio XPS 16 with WLED screen today...and I want to assure those that are worried...it's still beautiful.
No, I haven't seen the RGB LED screen...but I put the same Windows screen (with a large range of colors displayed) of my 1720 next to the screen on my 16...and the 16 blows it away.
I apparently had no idea what "white" really was on a laptop screen...it looks so crisp and nice. And at maximum brightness, my 1720 can't compare to the maximum brightness of the 16.
So don't be crushed if you couldn't afford or couldn't see your way into paying the extra for the RGB LED Screen..it's still a sweet looking screen.
I'm sure the RGB LED screen is probably nicer (for 250 bucks, it had well better be), but I'm FAR from unimpressed with the WLED.
I actually ordered an asus (don't hate lol) g51vx-a1 with a 15.6" LED 1080p screen, since you guys seem knowledgeable I was wondering how many manufacturers of 15.6" LED 1080p screens there were and maybe comment on the quality of them.
My asus g51vx-a1 has the AUO B156HW01 v.5 WLED LCD. It has some cheap bleeding. Here are some pictures.
I just want to know if Dell fixed the problem with their new screens, i am having some dust particles in the lower left hand corner..
i called Dell and after arguing with the rep, he said they will send me a box and i have to ship the Laptop to them for a screen replacement. The rep was saying that this was due because i dropped the laptop and cracked the screen, this is ridiculous because the laptop has been sitting on my desk and never been dropped.
Anyway, i just want to know if they fixed the new screens, because if they don't i can wait because the replacement screen will have to be replaced again in few months..........
I got my Dell SXPS16 (1080p WLED screen) the other day and well I like it but there is something that I do not like, the screens color is WAY off. I have tried messing with the ATI catalyst thing and the control panel color adjustment thing and neither seems to fully fix the problem. I have checked other screens and my old M1530 for accuracy and the SXPS is off.
To give you and example of how the color is messed up the various links on notbookreview have a purple tint and are not the usual blue. The folders (a la my documents, sub folders etc), are quite green and faded as oppose to the normal tan color.
I reduced the gama in control panel but which makes the "purple link" appear a little bit more blue but the folders are still green.
I just bought a Dell Studio XPS 16 second hand, advertised with an RGBLED screen.
The laptop works great but I am very sceptical about this display, all the reviews harp on about how amazing it looks but I can't really see much of a difference between this screen and my WLED monitor.
this is a little thing I noticed just last night, actually, about my 1640, I guess I probably didn't pay much attention to it before, but:
Most easily seen when the background is black (e.g. screen saver, boot-up, etc.), I noticed that the black in the middle is the darkest,
whereas the black on the left and right sides are slightly lighter (as if due to extra residual light from either side), and gradually smooths into the darkest of the black, of course
i got lots of dusts stuck on the surface beside the speakers... i was wondering if anyone could show me the way to get rid of the dust...
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently I've noticed that my entire right hand portion of my LCD is covered with black specs. At first I thought they were dead pixels, but some of the specs are larger, and lighter in color.
I opened up MS Paint and drew a circular dot around the black specs, and then I looked to the side of the LCD. I could still see the black specs underneath the dots, so I think it is dust.
Does anyone know how I could disassemble the LCD and clean the dust off?
I came home from a trip and unpacked my laptop from its case and went about playing some relaxing TF2. When I exited to my desktop I realized how *filthy* my screen was so I started cleaning it off...
and then I noticed one big spot wasn't coming off. If I look at it from a different angle it disappears and its not acting/looking like a dead pixel so I think that theres dust stuck on the LDC itself.. if that makes sense.
I called Dell and they quoted me a price to fix it for $800. I asked if there was a way to fix it myself and they said they couldn't tell me.
Its 2 weeks since i have received my sxpx 16.... i luv it but there is a problem.
i found about 6-9 specks of dust within the Led pane which is only visible when the lap is switched off or on a black/white background..i dont know whether others have this complaint..
I've got a small dust speck behind the LCD pane on my new Dell SXPS 1340, so no amount of rubbing is going to help.
I've contacted Dell, and after a not so short in time yet short in number set of emails, they told me that my LCD screen isn't in a condition to warrant a replacement.
Fine, I don't need it replaced; I just want the spec out of there .....
I have a can of compressed air I'll be using to dust off my laptop.
How do I go about cleaning it? Do I just spray air into the vents or...?
gaphics card has bitten the dust.
M1710 not overclocked
was working fine at the office, when i get it home on de hybernating the screen scrambled progresivly getting worse.
On restart there is a matrix style back ground behind the dell start up logo?
isnt this VGA generated? or does graphics card handle things from power on?
If i allow to boot normally it blue screens and says its graphics driver
I have not inslalled new drivers
it will boot in safe mode but there is still pink dotts behind all images, again isnt safe mode boot in safe mode with graphics from mother board in VGA
have disembled and resembled laptop and made sure graphics card is seated properly has made no diffrence
I got my Studio XPS 13 last night and spent about 5 hours installing Vista Business 64-bit from scratch and setting everything up.
It has been running great so far; however, I just noticed one or two dust particles between the glass and the lcd.
What should I do? It only bothers me when the background is white or light color. Should I ignore all that hard work and get it exchanged or am I being too anal about it? What are the chances of the next one being tightly sealed?
I keep getting dust in my Studio XPS Speakers.
The dust just gets stuck in the little holes, and I can not remove it.
Quite annoying, specially since the notebook is all black and the dust is usually white.
Is the 15'6 inch full hd wled screen the same good viewing angles I hear about on the 16'' RGB? or are they different?
This is really important to me because I have allready returned a handfull of laptops due to rubbish viewing angles and a washed out black on darker images/websites,
really irritating me now! and the dell xps 16 seems to crop up as having the best screen, but I can't really afford the RGB screen, so was wondering if the wled is just as good viewing angle wise?
Anyone have a side-by-side comparison (chart, pictures, anything) of the two screen types available on the Studio XPS 16? I'd be interested to see the difference, and my local Best Buy doesn't have ANY 16s so it's not possible for me.
View 10 Replies View Relatedhave beautiful LG screen in My XPS M1530 but recently i started to notice few black dots in the screen , i thought it might be dead pixel but they look completely different from all the pics i have seen in the internet .
It looks more like a dust particle then a Dead Pixel . and its very annoying
But I want to make sure before i call dell.
here are few pictures ( one in the middle and many in the side of the screen )
(Click On Them to See a Bigger Image)
I Tried for Better Pictures but this what i got any other means guys and if those are Dust Particles , how to remove them i have tried to clean them from outside its not going
Well, i took my D520 apart to give it a clean... And then it hit me to add a dust filter on the fan so it does not get dusty.
I had a OEM speaker out of my Taurus, and that has this very thin cloth like material covering the speaker for what ever reason
might just look nicer then seeing the speaker) I cut a little square out, and then placed it under the fan. The fan holds the filter nicely, and it does not take away from the cooling
Just wondering if someone helps me decide how much is difference between two screen type for Dell 16xx. Should you get Dell i5 with RGB or 15.6 WLED with i720?..
If usage is web browsing, movie watching, some digital pics manipulation (non-professional), does it make sense to get i7 with WLED or i5 with RGB?..
I know this has been talked about in various thread, but nothing really solid...
I want to buy Dell Studio 15, but I have a couple questions. Somebody tell me about DVD Drive and WLED display. I read that the DVD Drive is very noisy and WLED display is very bright. ATI 3470 isn't a good card. Is it true?
What about chipset in Studio 15?
Ok so my screen is faulty. The colors are messed up (Windows folders are green, snow is blue, etc). Dell (India) is being stupid is having trouble verifying my problem.
So I need your help to prove the them (or maybe to me) that I am telling the truth (or am totally crazy).
Here is a link to a picture.
It is my current background on my SXPS16, M1530, and PS3/Samsung HDTV. On both the M1530 and Samsung the rocky part in the bottom right is a definitive blue (with the slightest bit of red). On the my SXPS16 it is a definitive purple. As seen in these screen grabs below (hopefully)...
M1530
SXPS16
M1530
SXPS16
Now obviously viewing on my SXPS16 and M1530 every picture looks about the same. My question to you is this, on your SXPS16 (WLED 1080p) is the SXPS mountain picture purple-ish or something else and is the M1530 picture bluer? Are the folders in the SXPS folders picture green and faded or something else and are the folders in the M1530 folder picture more manila colored?
It is my understanding that the windows folders are manila colored like real manila folders... I could be wrong and they could naturally have a green tint but that seems unlikely.
RGBLED vs WLED, both 1920x1080. I already ordered my sxps16 on 8-4-09, I went with the WLED, I bought it when it was 25% off select laptops, couldn't pick RGBLED at that time.
I have been racking my brain about this, tried to cancel but it was to late. Should be here soon, ten days since order and still not shipped. I HATE WAITING! They told me after I recieved the laptop I could return it.
I just orderet an Dell XPS 16 with a WLED 1080P screen and i should have it on the 25. of August.
Then yesterday i went to dell's side and now they offer the same laptop at same price but with the RGBLED screen instead.
It seems its a new RGBLED screen as its not 16" but 15,6" as the WLED screen.
I dunno what to do. Would you guys return the laptop and order a new one with the RGBLED instead?
Since i've read that the RGB LED's green and red are more vivid, does anyone think that by adjusting the colour/contrast/brightness/gamma WLED screens might display colours like RGB LED?
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn my invoice is says that
Display: 13.3in WXGA (1280x800) - White-LED Display with TrueLife (thinner & brighter)
Camera: Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Camera with Facial Recongnition Software (Software install, no media)
Shouldn't it be CCFL = 2.0 and WLED = 1.3 or am I missing something?
If Dell has made a big mistake like this, should I then take advantage of the situation and demand compensation, because "I thought" it really was a 2.0 webcam and not a 1.3 installed in my laptop.
my order is being messed up with a 15.6" WLED 1080p screen, but I asked for a 16" RGBLED 1080p screen. I read on here that sometimes Dell installs an RGBLED even though it says WLED. How would an end user tell the difference, apart from "colour", which is subjective? Like is there a way to show it in something such as Device Manager or is there a way to look at your part somehow? I'd rather not rip my screen apart, but if it's not RGBLED then Dell is going to have to send a tech and the right screen.
