Dell :: Hard Drive Password On My I9300 -- How To Reset?
May 11, 2009
I have an old i9300 with a sata hard drive (NOT the one that I'm considering parting out). I set the hard drive password years ago, now can't remember it. Is there any way to reset it?
how to reset jumper setting for hardisk and cdrom drives. ...this problem occurred after setting-up cd-rom drives as master using eeprom utility. when i check the bios utility hardisk not detected and cd-rom drives shows instead.
i was wanting to boot from a usb stick to try out ubuntu. and acer rep told me that in order to do that, i needed to set a password in the bios system. so i did so, and turned off security to set the password. when i boot now, i get that little blue screen to put in my password, and i know what is is, but when trying to turn that off and using f2 to enter the bios normally it won't let me. it will ask me in a different format for the password.
My password that i put in is blue. and it takes me to the default screen where i can put in another password to get into windows. acer told me i needed to send in the computer and pay 100 dollars which isn't gonna happen anytime soon. i really need to get into the bios system to change the order up the boot sequence so i can try out ubunu. or any other program i want. i just tried to update the bios driver, and it still asks me for a "sato security password" just to clear the air. it has some number and letters associated with the pop up.
My hard drive went bad so I replace it. Now it will not let me do anything. Keeps asking for Administrator Password. I never had one. It gives me System disabled (66912982) ....
I just received my T530 (2359CTO) and need to encrypt the hard drive. When I purchased it, I opted (among other reasons) for Windows 8 Professional because it comes with BitLocker. I then discovered that some ThinkPads have hard drives that support hardware encryption (FDE).
I've tried to figure out whether mine has this feature, but haven't had any luck. The BIOS gives me the option to set a hard drive password, but I'm not positive that it actually encrypts the hard drive with this setting.
a) how to figure out if my hard drive supports hardware encryption b) how to enable it
Is there a place that sells the blu-ray burner that dell puts into their laptops now?
Do you have to buy from Dell? Is this drive compatible with the inspiron 9300? I have modded the bios on my 9300 to the M170 bios. Also, will my video card handle this drive and blu-ray movies? I have a 7800 GTX.
My Father-in-Law gave me his old computer It's an "hpG60 " p/n"NW149UA#ABA" and the model # G60-447CL Notebook PC anyway , when I turned it on it asked me to enter a "Power On Password?" I asked my Father-in-law for it but he could'nt remember where he had put it, boy did we search for it! We didnt have any luck. Can I bypass the Power on Password?
I have an Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop that has a Bios Password Set on it... and the password is not correct that we thought was the one for the laptop.... The password authentication system wont boot the laptop up until we enter the correct password... I have tried all the combinations that we thought the password is or was, but have not had any luck --- that being said the laptop is registered to me/ owned by me --- Can I provide the computer system tag -- that is shown on the screen and getting a reset password to overcome this obstacle.... The service tag is in my profile information and the computer system tag on the laptop bios password sign in screen is B*B*H*1-595B... I intentionally put the three * in the info, so I wouldn't compromise the service tag for my laptop for the world to see and use..
