View 3 RepliesWhat is a safe overclock speed for me to run my card at? by safe i mean doesnt get too hot that it will wreck my notebook.
I have already used the 790GSUON.ROM to unlock my card.
Wondering what settings i should use?
Using the 90w ac adapter.
i've been given a Dell Inspiron 1525 with water damage to repair.
it doesn't look like a lot of water has gone into it, there's some marks on the metal parts of the internal frame and a little bit of rust marks on the top of the dvd writer drive. There was some corrosion/rust on a couple of the chips which i have cleaned and scrubbed off.
When it's plugged in, the blue battery led comes on, when left on both the power light and the battery light come on aswell as the light under the power button, But it doesn't boot and the fan doesn't start.
at one point the fan did spin but only for about 3-4 seconds and went back off.
My computer is about a year old. When I turn it on, it will Go to the home screen & then it will go to a blue screen with a message that says a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer. Technical Information: STOP: 0x0000007E .How can I fix this so I can get back on to use my computer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 2 year old spilled juice on my new laptop about 3 weeks ago, and now when I power it on it goes to the boot screen, the blue bar doesn't finish loading and it turns off. Ok, today I was just trying things. It's 3 buttons at the top right of the laptop, if I hold the middle one the computer will boot, stay on and I can do everything as normal. But if I let that button go, it turns right off.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried to put it in but there is a 1/4 in pin in the way. Is there a way to remove with out any harm. My Inspiron 9400 video card is having problems.
I have tried the 400 deg for 10 min but it did not last
I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop/notebook which recently has started to get green pixels throughout the whole screen. Have also tested external monitor and get the same result.
I have searched, googled and even called dell and the response on all cases was that i need to replace my graphics card.
The graphics card i originally have in it is a Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 graphics card 256MB. Model number is P494 (if that helps makes it easier)
Could someone pls advise me or any compatible cards where i can get the same card or any other card which is compatible and a reasonable price.
I am also after a WLAN card. WLAN Dell part number 0KC501 and also require the 2 cables for Main and Aux or the connectors which click on them as mine are completely damaged and need to be replaced.
today's finally the day my laptop decided to finally die. Seems like the GPU's memory got corrupted in some way, being unable to run Windows itself unless it's in Safe Mode.
I started realizing this was the case when the Windows loading bar showed green dots all over the screen, plus giving a lot of BSODs about PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA and finally, when I just logged into regular Windows, started having extreme graphics problems.
Can only Dell upgrade my laptop with special RAM?..
I guess it would cost more and also I have to ship my laptop to them which means I will have no laptop for a period..
So can I just buy my own RAM and install myself?..
My inspiron 9400 will not boot. The only functions I can see is the battery light comes on when plugged in to indicate that it is charging, and when I press the power button the power light comes on for 5 seconds then goes off, thats it.
I thought this problem was the board earlier, so I replaced it with a tested motherboard and am having the same problem.
I have also tried booting with just AC adaptor and just battery, no change. Right now my only idea is the CPU, is this feasible? Can somebody help me with this?

Just wondering what the best processor for an Inspiron 9400 is?
I am currently running on a C2D T7400 at the moment, but, would like to upgrade.
While I notice a marked improvement and will there be any issues such as overheating?
I have just gone upto 4mg of Ram and now have a 500mb hard drive, although, didn't realise that I could have got a 7200rpm one until I bought it
If I have head phones in, the sound works though them. If I unplug them, sound doesn't play through the built in speakers.

View 15 Replies View RelatedIm tryin to sell a laptop for a friend and Im not sure what to price it its a couple of years old now and it was bought for about 1500

The reason why I'm here is the Inspiron 9400. I bought this Notebook assuming that it'll be DX10 compatible. However, I recently discovered that the GF 7k series does not support DX10. That's a kinda annoying situation, considering that DX10 was one of the reasons due to which I decided to buy such an expensive laptop.
Well, now I don't have any clue whether it is possible, but I'm looking at exchanging my video card. I was reading somewhere that those Dells are quite handy when it comes to exchanging components. Unfortunately, I have hardly any experience in such a profession and exchanging a video card seems to me a major intervention.
I really would like to know whether there are any video cards available for laptops that will support DX10, and if that is the case, whether they are attainable at a reasonable cost.
I'm attempting to upgrade my wife's 9400/e1705 but it's been so long since I gave a damn about mobile CPU's that I've forgotten which ones will fit and which ones won't.
I know she has a core solo 1.66 yonah, and I know it can fit certain T1** and T2**, and I know there's a screaming fast one out there, but I don't want to buy the wrong thing.
I have an Inspiron 9400 with a Core 2 Duo T7200 and GeForce Go 9700 GS.
While I'm using my computer, after about half an hour, there will be a performance drop. If I am playing a game my frame rate will drop to 5-10fps, Firefox will run slow, et cetera.
I believe it has something to do with the processor and the speedstep throttling crap.
What is the MAX Size hard drive my Dell 9400 can take ?
The 9400 went down during last night and came up on the screen with this.

I would like to upgrade my Inspiron 9400 from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Is it possible? What do I need to do to the hardware?
my HDD, when idle, makes access noises every 2 or 3 seconds. The noise sounds like normal HD access noise (like a watch tick), but in a quiet room it can be very annoying after a while. If it was not for the fact that the HDD light does not light up when the noise occurs, I would assume something was accessing the HDD every few seconds or so.
If I used HDPARM, I can kinda stop the noise by setting the drive to 254. TO be honest though, I'm not really sure what this is doing.
The issue is really annoying as a) everyone just says drive failure, but I don't think it is, and b) it seems to be HUGELY common. Some people say it is headparking, but why would a system park heads every 2 seconds?
Has anyone had this issue fixed by having their HD replaced? I cannot stress enough that the "ticking" is not loud and, unless you were in a quiet room you would never notice. It sounds exactly like access sounds, but just every couple of seconds.

I am replacing my Dell Inspiron 9400 current video card which is a Dell nVidia 7900GS 256MB(dual heat pipes) with a Dell FX2500M 512MB video card.I want to know if it will work ok??I know I have to get a PA-13 for a XPS M1710 power supply to replace the PA-10 supply and I already modded my housing corner by removing the extra metal on the left side to fit the second heat pipe.I have the current bios of A09 in my Inspiron 9400.Besides getting the PA-13 power supply,9 cell battery(already got a 9Cell battery),and the latest Dell video drivers,am I missing anything?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am a long time Dell Inspiron 9400 notebook user. I bought this notebook on February of 2006. So, the notebook is now about 7 months out of its 3 year NBD warranty, which sucks massively as the nVidia GeForce Go 7800 video card has developed some display glitches.
I am having random BSODs with error code: BAD_POOL_CALLER - Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed. After restarting the machine, I can see lots of display glitches both on my external 27" Dell monitor and the notebook screen.
I have run extensive diagnostics - no issues were picked up with CPU, RAM or HDD.
Mind you, the motherboard on this notebook was completely replaced last year due to faulty USB ports.
Questions:
1. What are the chances of paying Dell to extend the warranty? I still would not want to completely ditch this notebook for another year or so.
2. I obviously have to pay for a video card replacement out of my own pocket. What are my best options? Just find a suitable video card on eBay - is that it?
3. Considering I no longer use this machine for gaming, mainly for web browsing, and .NET application development & testing, what is the cheapest video card that will do the job?
I installed a FX2500M 512mb card in my Dell Inspiron 9400.I played Battlefield 2142 using high settings on all the options including 2X AA,1600x1200 resolution etc and after about 3-4 hrs straight of non stop gaming,I noticed my screen graphics getting "shaky"during gameplay. Is this normal because of the max settings I was using?
