View 9 RepliesMy xps m1730 has nvidia 8800M GTX SLI. I am running Windwos 7 64-bit. It only recognizes one of my graphics cards. How can I install the second one?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a XPS M1730 with nVidia 8800M GTX SLI.
When i wanted to start it yesterday it stopped just after initializing the LCD panel. I did not install or remove any software/hardware before it happened.
i tried the Vista repair function but without success.
the computer starts in safe mode and in "normal mode" if i uninstalled the graphics driver before.
i checked my HDD and even reset it to factory settings but still same problem. as soon as i load the proper graphics driver it freezer resp wont start up again.
You can't Change your Graphics card, is there any graphics card that i can use through the PCI express slot, or the the expansion port? the laptop is hp pavillion dv2000 (exactly: dv2132ea) since i don't want to go through the hassle of changing my laptop. I just need a better vga card

View 6 Replies View RelatedAs I had been having a couple of minor problems with a temporary dim screen on startup and occasional screen flicker, I decided to upgrade the NVIDIA display driver on my 5920G.
Unfortunately I rather carelessly installed driver update 180.48 for a 8800 GS rather than the correct 178.24 for the 8600GT on my laptop.
It installed fully and the display still seems to be working OK (but screen flicker still there)
I am wondering whether or not it is OK to leave the 180.48 driver as it is or whether I should roll the driver upgrade back and then install 178.24.
To be honest I find installing drivers quite complicated and difficult so I would prefer to take no action unless the expert advice from members of this forum says it will cause me future problems.
I just received my SXPS 13 today (13 days ahead of schedule, yay) and wished to confirm Dell had sent me the WLED option (as I had canceled a previous order on which the representative was misinformed of the product and included a CCFL monitor on the order).
Is there any easy way to do this? I thought I had seen this question asked before but I suddenly can't seem to find it.
I have an Acer Aspire 7720G which has a Nvidia GeForce 9300M G 256MB graphics card.
Other specs - Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0 Ghz), 3Gb Ram 667MHz
I've installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate but it doesn't recognise that there's a graphics card present. I've tried to instal the drivers from the Nvidia website but it aborts because it can't find the hardware.
I've also tried installing Vista SP1 but still no avail.
Dell offer the Wireless N option so I wondered if the 3rd aerial connection was built in but tucked away if you choose the Wireless G option only so in order to use it I'd have to open the back up to route it into the bay?
I have a 3rd aerial anyway bought from a 3rd party but of course the built in one (if available) would be a better choice for performance .....
I have a LENOVO 03193TG Thinkpad. Someone tweaked the settings on it and removed the need to confirm deletions by pressing ENTER when the DELETE key is pressed. How to restore this option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking at getting a Dell XPS m1730.
If I get it with the 8700m card, can I eventually swap the card out for an 8800m gtx? or are they not swapable?
Also, could I get the single card, then eventually put in an sli co0nfig?
Or if I get the SLI 8700s, can I put a gtx in?
I'm constantly getting the
"Video card driver did not respond but recovered"
Error and enabling SLI makes the problem even worst.
I've returned the laptop to Dell and they changed the MOBO and Vid cards (so it says in the work order) but the problem is still there. It's not as bad as it used to be but it still exists. frankly, I'm gonna call them and ask for another latop to see if that will solve the problem but who knows. I'm wondering if anyone here has managed to get this laptop running smoothly play Battlefield 2, call of duty and other intensive FPS games like Fallout3 or Bioshock, not to mention crysis,
Both m8800gtx have an error code 43 in hardware device manager (vista32).
Well, here is what is going on. I have an m1730 that has been working A1 since I got until yesterday when I installed CoD:WaW.
It might be just a coincidence though because the game was playing good for a while until I got kicked out of the game and when I tried to launch the game again it said I had a DirectX corruption. So I took a look at directx diag and saw no problem, except for video card info showed nothing!
This is where I decided to look in hardware manager and saw the dreaded exclamation point (error 43) for both my cards.
I did a full video driver uninstall, then did a driversweeper and took out all nvidia stuff and tried to install my drivers again and still get the same error!
Are my video cards messed up? I will be attempting a clean install on another spare drive today to see if it really a driver/software conflict.
Card, Graphics, IUPGA5A G84
What video card or cards is this?
Does anyone heard a noice coming from the "circuit board" of graphic card when you are running a game or during the gpu test in 3dmark? The sound like "si si si si" is quite annoying.
I confirmed is not the problem of the fan of gpu and guess the noice is from the circuit board of gpu..
This is a long winded question so bear with me.
Both me and my friend, have Dell XPS M1710 laptops.
mine has the Go7900GS 256MB, and my mates has the 7950GTX 512MB, Graphics cards. have been thinking about an upgrade to a XPS M1730. The base model of the M1730 comes with a single Go8700gt 256MB card in it.
my question is this card any better than our older ones at DX9 and DX10 Games?? there is also an SLI option for the 8700gt, again how would this compare to our older cards??
I have an M90 and my FX 2500M has memory failure. I upgraded the M90 with a T7600 CPU, 4GB Ram, and it is running Vista Ultimate 64. What do I need to do to run the FX 1600M? Any other suggestions on cards is appreciated. I use it for 3D solid modeling and mechanical design.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got this new xps studio 1340 and I noticed in the device manager that the display adapter is NVIDIA 9400 MG instead of g210 (n10). I also checked the Nvidia control panel and it said the same thing. I also installed some gpu detector (GPU CAPS viewer) and it said the same thing .....

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone has received their XPS M1730 and found it to be missing the Ageia physics card.
I don't seem to see the device in my BIOS, and when I boot into Windows and install the Ageia software, it says there is no physics card installed
I'm running Vista home premium
I have a xps m1730 that is equiped with geforce 9800 sli already. I want to know that in case that I want to upgrade the video card, what card I can put in for this laptop.
The configuration is, Intel T8300, 4gb of ram
I am purchasing the original Adamo (not the XPS) with the following specs.

UK - Irish Internal Keyboard (QWERTY) - Pearl

Dell Bluetooth 370 Card
What is the graphics card?
And can you do some light gaming on the lowest settings?
I;ve recently purchased the new dell inspiron 1720, which is little more than a glorified netbook.
The graphics are terrible. and i was wondering if i can uppgrade my graphics card. (Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. 780 mb)
So is the 8400 the best I'm gonna get in a small chassis.. 12.1/13.3? or are there any other brands that have a 8500/8600.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSay I wanted to upgrade the graphics card on my M1710 laptop, is it
a) Possible?
b) Worth it?
c) What are the options in terms of new ones.
I have an inspiron 1720 which came equipped with an Nvidia 8600m GT. I have had it for a few months but recently found that my laptop says that I do not have a graphics card.
I went to Personalization>Display Settings>Adapter and found that it said my chip type: <unavailable> The same for adapter type, DAC type etc.
Also it said that my total graphics memory was <unavailable> and that my dedicated video memory etc was N/A.
My trusty (out of warranty) XPS M170 has given up the ghost shortly before its second birthday. I'm fairly certain the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra is shot; there was a moment of heavily corrupted graphics followed by a BSOD, then nothing more on the LCD since (backlight still working fine). The VGA output has small green lines over the picture.
I'd like to get another year or two's use out of this baby. I hear the M170 can take a GeForce Go 6800, GeForce Go Ultra 6800, GeForce Go 7800 GTX or an ATI X300. I'm happy to put any one of those in the machine; I really just need solid 2D performance. The ATI would be perfect but I have no idea where they can be bought from.
Is there somewhere reliable from which I can source a new graphics card? I have dropped an email to Dell as their UK site doesn't seem to have spare parts. The US site seems to have a slightly ovepriced 6800 card, which I wouldn't mind resorting to if necessary.
can I install the latest ATI drivers from the official site, or do I have to get them from the Dell site?
(Actually..i can't seem to find them on the ATI site :S Does this mean you have to wait for Dell to update? Or am I just not looking in the right place?)
This is for a Studio 15
I've been having a problem with my xps gen 2 laptop lately. I was using it the other day and closed the lid and let the system hibernate while I was at work, when I opened it up again it looked like the video card was artifacting. (It has a 6800 ultra in it) I don't use the system to game anymore, its just my daily laptop and it doesn't do alot of video intensive tasks. I ran dell diagnostics and it said it was experiencing errors writing to memory. Every once and a while I can start the system and there is no artifacting. I'm pretty sure the video card is fried because it artifacts while posting, and on the external screen I tried as well. I pulled apart the system to clean it (it wasn't to dusty, I blow it out with compressed air a couple of times a month).
Also I removed the graphics chip and reseated it just to make sure it hadn't come loose or anything. I just want to be sure before I spend the money to replace the graphics chip. I'm probably going to replace it with an x600 since most of the things I do aren't graphics intense and I plan to get a new laptop some time next year.
I've followed the instructions provided by Dell and have it at this point:

I know the card is located under the big "metal thing" that says PUSH HERE, I've loosened all the screws off (3 are used to secure it to the motherboard, 4 others are used to secure the metal thing to another,
smaller board) but i can't seem to separate the smaller circuit board from the metal...and the last thing I want to do is force it too much and break it.
