Dell :: Nvlddmkm.sys = BSOD

Jul 28, 2008

I decided to pick up Black and White 2 again since I have nothing better to do with my time but wreak havoc or maybe some good, haven't decided yet.

..anyways

I start the game (patched and up to date) and everything's fine until I hit a new cutscene, then the game freezes up and after a few moments I get my most favorite thing in the world: BSOD ()

Regular text "blah blah blah failed you suck at life uninstall kthxbye" It says the error is caused from nvlddmkm.sys.

I did some google-ing and came back with some kind of incompatibility between vista and nvidia drivers. I'm fully updated to SP1, I have the 177.70 forceware drivers; I've tried it with other drivers but it's still not working. Ive patched the game, tried it overclocking and not, and nothing seems to work.

Dell :: M440, Vista X64, Solidworks And Nvlddmkm :-[

Jan 29, 2009

My system keeps crashing when I use solidworks.

Screen blacks out for a few secs and I get a message concerning graphics driver not responding nvlddmkm.sy_ etc.

I am running Vista 64 Business with Duo 2.54GHz, 4G RAM and off course the FX770M which was one of the main reasons I bought this machine.

I tried Solidworks 2009 SP0 and 2008 SP3.1, all the drivers I could get from Resource CD and Dell Site [anyways the same] and finally reformatted, did a clean Vista install with only chipset, card and ricoh drivers.

I will try XP Pro but I am losing my faith and my cool .....

HP/Compaq :: The Description For Event ID 14 From Source Nvlddmkm Cannot Be Found

Jun 14, 2009

I have this problem since last night and there had no problem from I bought my computer last year until last night.

I leave my pc there and I went out somewhere. When I get back, I saw my screen blank, and no responding at all. I force shutdown and restart again, the bios screen didn't show up.

But after a while I turn on my pc, I can see the bios screen again and log on to windows. After that I go to event viewer and check what is that error just now, and the error message is:

"The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer."

And then I didn't bother that and start to play game. But suddenly my screen went to look like low graphic, many pink pixed, and then went to blank screen. I force to turn off the pc and then turn on again.

I searched all over the internet and they asked to uninstall the driver and reinstall again. But still have this kind of problem, even I surfing internet the problem still occurs.

Are there any solutions for this? Any opinions on why this is happening?

I am running the latest drivers on my 9200M GS and have Vista Home Premium for my OS.

Sony :: Display Driver Nvlddmkm Stopped Responding And Has Successfully Recovered

May 11, 2010

Has anyone seen this error on their VPC-Z series?

I've seen it twice now... it flashes up something about "188.8" or something but that vanishes quick. In Event Viewer, it says:

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Is it bad, or just iffy drivers? It recovers instantly.

Dell :: BSOD M1730

Feb 20, 2010

My 1730 is not cooperating this morning. Been trying to figure out why Im having a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) everytime I try to open anything. It even crashed during a system restore and also during a power off at the Windows is Shutting Down screen.

Things had been working great up until last night. I was reading something on a webpage when I got a pop up window on the page I was on, and when I clicked the window closed, I crashed to blue screen of death.

Haven't been able to do much since then. Not sure if its hardware or software related, but I do notice that my McAfee isn't running now and when I try to update it says 'Components Are Missing' and to reinstall.

Can't get far enough in a reinstall before I crash again, so thats getting me no where.

I was able to do a system restore to a day earlier, but the problem is still there.

I also have no way to network in safe mode due to only having wireless internet access.

If anyone has any suggestions on where to get help to find out what might be causing the problem. Please let me know. I can follow instruction if anyone can walk me through what I need to look for.

Dell :: BSOD On Some XPS Systems

Aug 27, 2009

A problem cropping up more and more of late is a BSOD when the machine is coming out of sleep mode, or when the hood is lifted after sleep mode.

The cause of this has been determined to be a Microsoft update patch.

See this thread on the Dell Forums about people having the problem and it's resolution:

Dell :: Studio XPS 13 BSOD Often

Mar 7, 2009

I know people have had issues with the SXPS13 having the blue screen but my blue screen occurs whenever I do a windows update or install a newer video card driver.

I've read posts and none have helped in this particular issue.

This first happened in Vista Home (came with laptop) and bsod at EVERY startup so I boot to cd and installed Windows 7. Ran great until I installed the new nvidia drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com.

I read threads where people have had no issue installing them on sxps13's and received better video performance. I guess my question is: should I waste my time battling with dell to receive another lemon unit that will take a month to ship to me again, never ever ever upgrade my video drivers or possibly I don't have a bad unit

Dell :: Latitude D600 Getting BSOD

Feb 2, 2010

I was checking my email then all of the sudden, I got Dell's BSOD. I restarted it, when I got into desktop, BSOD again. So I decided restore (clone, I used it 2 times before this happened). The restoration was successful, but when I boot it up, after Windows logo, nothing, blank screen. So I did it again, restoring it. But again, blank screen.
Then I decided to do a fresh clean install of XP, but when I tried to delete that partition, BSOD. I booted up again from the XP CD, I found it had been deleted. So I made a new partition, and format it (NTFS - slow method), but when it got into the middle of copying the files, it said it can't copy the files.

In the moment, I am formatting the hard drive into massive one, instead of two partition. I doubt it that it will work.

What's the problem with my Dell Latitude D600?

Do you think that's the hd?

Just FYI, before this happen, I was thinking of upgrading the hd into bigger hd.

Edit: Yup, it failed. Btw, my D600 is at least 5 years old, original hd.

Dell :: M1530 Webcam Causes BSOD

Jan 19, 2010

So I've been having this m1530 since xmas of '08 and this problem has occurred since day 1. Basically, I bought this xps m1530 from the dell outlet and have loved it except for this d*** webcam. Originally had vista 32bit on it. Just upgraded to Win7 a couple days ago(loving it BTW), thinking it may solve it but nope. Everytime I try to start the webcam it sends my comp into a BSOD and then it restarts and functions as if nothing happened. No matter if I try using it through the webcam center, or on a video chatroom. I'm thinking it has to be driver related but I'm not sure.

then i get the dreaded BSOD - I haven't had time to look through the dump file yet, but the thread ks.sys is mentioned.

I've had a look about, and I think the problem is something to do with the ASIO4All driver I installed (and subsequently uninstalled) OR how the IRQs are set up in windows.

Dell :: Xps M1730 Bsod On Startup

Jun 29, 2009

I have had my xps now for almost 2 years without a single issue, other than software screwups here and there. Now without any indication I am having a problem with my xps. After POST I get the awesome blue screen stating the usual run CHKDSK blah blah and this little gem:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xBACCB524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I restarted and ran the full diagnostic suite, passed everything just fine. I then checked the HDD by pulling it and putting it in a spare D830. It started up fine. I even put the D830 HDD in the xps to see if anything different would happen; same error.

I took it all apart to check dust and connections, everything looks great.

My XPSm1530 gave me a BSOD error, but it only flashed on the screen quickly, and I couldn't write it down.

Now the system won't boot: it gets to the windows loading bar, and restarts over and over.

I have tried Safe Mode, but it freezes when crcdisk.sys is trying to load.

I also can't boot from the Vista OS CD, as the system just freezes up at 'press any key to boot from CD'

Dell :: XPS M1330 Windows 7 BSOD Tdx.sys

The problem seems to occur only if my integrated Broadcom wired LAN adapter is connected. I recently ran it for a few hours straight while using wi-fi and no LAN and it did not BSOD at all.

I have read online it has to do with the Broadcom drivers, but even after updating the drivers, the problem still exists. I also tried uninstalling the drivers from Dev. Manager and letting Windows reinstall whatever it wanted. Still no dice.

Dell Inspiron 15R :: BSOD - Will Not Boot To OS

Jan 14, 2015

I have an inspiron 15r, about a year old that returns a BSOD upon boot.

The problem is with Iastor.sys - which I understand is Matrix Storage Manager.

My problem is none of the regular boot options work. No safe mode, no last good config.

Would it be possible to just download a new iastor.sys and replace the existing file with a new one via repair console?

Dell :: BSOD After Upgrading I9400 To A NV7900gs

Sep 9, 2007

I upgraded my inspiron to a 7900 gs from x1400 a while back now (3months ago) and it has been running smoothly (games like quake 4/lotro at high graphics).

However, i have recently started playing Bioshock and after about 10 minutes of gameplay i got a blue screen of death with the following error:

Tried to write to read only memory (or something along those lines)

It specifies a NV4.dsp file

Was wondering if it is a driver problem or hardware?(running bioshock on high settings by the way (1440x900 res) and when it does run it runs well - a very playable 30-60fps)
One thing to note is that i didnt format when upgrading the video card - could there be conflicting drivers?

My sys specs are as follows :

intel duo t2400 (1.83)
2gig 667 ram
nvidia (dual pipe) 7900 gs (running stock on Mobile Force drivers).........

Dell :: BSOD New Harddrive Windows Xp Install

Feb 15, 2009

Ive been dealing with windows vista on this labtop for awhile and i am tired of vista. I had previously tried putting in a XP disk and tried to reformat and got a BSOD when entering setup. So i decided to by a new harddrive for the computer because the old harddrive was small anyways. [url] I put the new harddrive in and bios recognized that the harddrive was there. I then put in the xp cd and tried to set up windows again. The same problem happened so I thought it might be the xp CD. I went to windows msdn and i downloaded windows xp professional NO SERVICE PACK(for free) and burnt the image file onto a cd. I then tried installing windows again, and another blue screen of death. My bios is A07 and there is a new bios A08 and i dont know if it will help. Ive been looking around for posts on similar problems and for dell labtops ive seen they have said to get sata drivers. There are none for the dell xps m1210 to my knowledge. If someone could show me where i can find them that would be great. Ive also read people going onto the dell bios and doing something with autodetect. My dell bios has no section about harddrive, its the worst excuse for a bios. I currently can use the old harddrive with vista, if i need to update any drivers but i cant find any drivers that would help in my situation. [url] Do i need to use a newer service pack of XP to work with newer hard drives ive read that service pack 1 supports sata harddrives larger than 137GB? The blue screen comes during windows setup.

Dell :: Inspiron 1720, BSoD After Installing 4GB RAM

Dec 14, 2008

I purchased CT699854 4GB kit (2GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM from Crucial.com for my Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. The machine already had 2GB in two 1GB chips for both slots.

When I installed the new chips, Windows Vista Home Premium refused to boot. BIOS recognized the new RAM without problems, but when Windows started to load I immediately got a 0x7b stop error. This is strange, because that usually coincides with an AHCI problem, but that's already turned on in the BIOS with Turbo Memory and works fine.

When I take ONE of those 2GB chips out, leaving an empty DIMM slot, it boots fine. When I use one new 2GB chip in conjunction with one of the old 1GB chips, it boots fine and Vista recognizes 3GB of RAM. But when I push it to 4GB, I get the 0x7b BSoD. I've used all combinations of new and old chips, and it appears the new chips aren't bad as far as I can tell.
