Dell :: XPS M1330 Windows 7 BSOD Tdx.sys

Feb 11, 2009

At random times but every few minutes, I keep getting BSODs that reference tdx.sys.

The problem seems to occur only if my integrated Broadcom wired LAN adapter is connected. I recently ran it for a few hours straight while using wi-fi and no LAN and it did not BSOD at all.

I have read online it has to do with the Broadcom drivers, but even after updating the drivers, the problem still exists. I also tried uninstalling the drivers from Dev. Manager and letting Windows reinstall whatever it wanted. Still no dice.

Dell :: M1330 Restart/Shutdown/Sleep = BSOD

Mar 14, 2009

First of all my M1330 has been serving me quite well lately. I've only had it for about 6 months, but the only problems I've had were the computer getting hot.

As of last night, when I pressed the power button to go into sleep mode (I always do this before I go to bed),

it would pop up a BSOD, and then restart my computer, and pop up a black screen asking if I wanted to reboot in safe mode or not

Dell :: BSOD New Harddrive Windows Xp Install

Feb 15, 2009

Ive been dealing with windows vista on this labtop for awhile and i am tired of vista. I had previously tried putting in a XP disk and tried to reformat and got a BSOD when entering setup. So i decided to by a new harddrive for the computer because the old harddrive was small anyways. [url] I put the new harddrive in and bios recognized that the harddrive was there. I then put in the xp cd and tried to set up windows again. The same problem happened so I thought it might be the xp CD. I went to windows msdn and i downloaded windows xp professional NO SERVICE PACK(for free) and burnt the image file onto a cd. I then tried installing windows again, and another blue screen of death. My bios is A07 and there is a new bios A08 and i dont know if it will help. Ive been looking around for posts on similar problems and for dell labtops ive seen they have said to get sata drivers. There are none for the dell xps m1210 to my knowledge. If someone could show me where i can find them that would be great. Ive also read people going onto the dell bios and doing something with autodetect. My dell bios has no section about harddrive, its the worst excuse for a bios. I currently can use the old harddrive with vista, if i need to update any drivers but i cant find any drivers that would help in my situation. [url] Do i need to use a newer service pack of XP to work with newer hard drives ive read that service pack 1 supports sata harddrives larger than 137GB? The blue screen comes during windows setup.

Dell :: XPS 1640 BSOD On Resume From Sleep, Windows 7

Feb 26, 2010

I have an XPS 1640 with the 3670 card. It came with vista, i put ubuntu on it, then figured it give win 7 ultimate 64bit a go since i got a free copy.

I had all the latest drivers/bios on it, and when I would try to resume from sleep id get a BSOD. Nothing suspicious in the event viewer, no dmp files anywhere. Just would not resume.

I tried fiddling with bios version and driver combos, and still nothing. The BSOD doesnt happen anymore, the machine just freezes on resume.

Dell Inspiron N5050 :: Running Windows 7 - BSOD On Hibernation

I have ignored the issue as long as I can but I am too often losing my current state when I hibernate my pc.The screen powers down which makes me think that the hibernation is happening as normal. However I still see the HDD power light remaining active for say 10 minutes.

The computer then throws a blue screen of death and then powers down.When I reboot I get the message Windows did not shutdown successfully. Windows will ask me to upload the crash dump file to Microsoft but I never get any kind of feedback.This process is quite frustrating.

Acer :: BSOD While Installing Windows

Dec 2, 2008

I have an Acer 3100 laptop and I've been trying to install windows on it for the past few days. The problem is after Windows formats the drive and copies the files, i'll get the BSOD after it restarts. I've tried using a different hdd and ram. I've tried installing Windows XP and Vista. I tried loading an image of a fully loaded windows but that didn't work. I ran ram and hdd testes but no problems show up. I'm really out of ideas now. I also updated the BIOS but that didn't help.

Acer :: 3810T Strange Windows 7 BSOD

Jul 2, 2009

Having some very strange Win7 RC install problems on my Timeline 3810T.

First - If the SATA was in AHCI mode in the BIOS, I would get a BSOD every time the partitioning was complete and copying files begun. When this was switched to IDE mode, installation went off without a hitch. This is with the machine's stock 320GB hard drive.

Second - I've received a Corsair P256 SSD drive, based on a new "very compatible" Samsung controller. After installing this SSD, the BSOD occurs no matter which mode I'm in (IDE or AHCI). I cannot seem to find a way around this. I've tried loading all different version of AHCI drivers from Intel for the ICH9M-E, but no go.

I'd really like to unleash this SSD

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W530 With Windows 7 X64 Pro BSOD When Connecting To Projector

Feb 19, 2008

I have 2 identical ThinkPad W530 laptops model 244723G

Both are set to discrete graphics from BIOS because with optimus driver my projector will not work at all.

But how i have other issue that causes BlueScreen when connection laptop to projector.

I have installed latest driver from Lenovo download site -> still BSOB when connecting to projector.

When i install driver from Nvidia site it fixes BSOD issue with discrete graphics and external projector.

Confirm that there is a error on Lenovo optiomus driver when using discrete graphics?

Lenovo U/S Series :: IdeaPad S510p - Frequent And Unpredictable BSOD - Windows 8.1 64bit

Apr 29, 2014

My Ideapad S510p has accrued over 10 BSODs over the past 2 weeks. It is totally random, not due to putting it in sleep mode, and apparently is caused by a failure in the ntoskrnl.exe and usbehci.sys.

I have tried looking for malfunctioning devices, and disabled bluetooth as it was apparently not working.

I also installed several new drivers. This solved nothing, and I am at a loss of what to do entirely.

Lenovo T400 / T500 :: T520 / Windows 7 - Suddenly Receiving Random BSOD And Applications Crashing

Apr 10, 2013

I've been running on a T520 4239-CTO for a little over a year now without issue.  I've been getting lots of random bsod and services crashing in the last few days; even Windows 7 cannot validate itself anymore.

I ran all the hardware checks in the provided Lenovo utilities and it all seems to pass.  I didn't trust this so I manually checked the smart values on the hard disk and noticed around 2400+ reallocated sectors so I decided to replace the hard disk.

It should be noted that there are no viruses/malware on this machine.  After receiving the new hard disk I did a factory restore using the dvd backups I made when I received the machine.  Upon booting the new factory install on the new disk I'm still getting the same random bsod and issues with Windows 7 not being able to validate.

I notice that everytime I boot now on the newly restored os that the "Microsoft Software Protection Platform" service has issues and cannot start.  I started doing some updates using the Thinkvantage tools and they're crashing too.

This machine is currently on pass 4 of memtest without any errors so far.

I've replaced the hard drive and from the looks of things so far the ram seems fine.  Where do I go from here?

Dell :: Will Windows 7 Run On XPS M1330

Sep 25, 2009

I have Home Premium Vista 64-bit and there's a college student offer for $29.99 for a Windows 7 upgrade and I was wondering if there is driver support for all of the gadgets on this laptop. My biggest concern is the fingerprint reader.

I have the bug in Vista where you can't do upgrades because of database corruption so it would be a full installation from scratch. I assume that I'd have to install Vista and then Windows 7.

I went to Dell's website and didn't see Windows 7 drivers at the site; just Vista drivers.

Dell :: XPS M1330 And Windows 7

Dec 30, 2009

I have a M1330 notebook with t8100 processor 3GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS GPU.

The notebook was shipped with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, recently I have installed Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit edition on notebook. I have removed Vista and installed 7 on same partition.

The problem is system is acting weird, after 15 - 20 min of switching it on the fan makes noise and rotates fast and after some time the notebbok automatically shuts down. I checked the device manager and there I saw that it is not listing my GPU.

Are there any drivers to be installed. I have already upgraded my BIOS to A15 which is the latest available on Dell website.

Dell :: Preparing My M1330 For Windows 7 64-bit

Jul 1, 2009

I have an XPS M1330 with an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2.1GHz, and 2 gigs of RAM. I'm currently using Vista Home Premium 32-bit, but I am strongly considering switching to 64-bit when I upgrade to Windows 7..

First of all, can you tell me if my processor capable of running 64-bit Windows, or is it specifically geared towards 32-bit? Since RAM is so cheap at the moment, I'm willing to upgrade to 4 gigs in order to run x64, but I don't think I'll go through with it if it means I have to get a new processor..

Secondly, would you say that it was worth the trouble to make the jump to 64-bit, given my hardware configuration? Will there be a palpable difference in performance? I mostly use my laptop for work and gaming, both hardcore and casual, and if I'll be able to get a significant performance boost by going up to 4 gigs of RAM and a 64-bit OS, I will go for it....................

Sounds ridiculous. The guys name was JoJo (sp?). He told me I couldn't install any updates. Not SP1, nothing.

He said that Dell and MS were working on "issues" that would be cleared up in 2-3 months. Curiously, this is around the expiration of my warranty.

Dell :: [Official] XPS M1330 Windows 7 X64 Thread [Official]

Nov 24, 2009

I created this thread with the intention of grouping all who have, or in the process, or are planning to upgrade to Windows 7 x64 for the XPS M1330.

Personally I'm currently on Vista Ultimate x86 (because it's a Product Red) and I'm entitled to a free Windows 7 Professional x64 license from my school. I've read that it's not possible to upgrade directly from higher-to-lower (in terms of level of OS).

Like for mine I'd only be able to upgrade directly if I had a Windows 7 Ultimate license.

Hence for my case, I would like to seek the advice from the helpful fellas here on my upgrade (sequence) options.

Currently I have 2 partitions, as per default. C drive as OS and main partition of 285GB and D drive as RECOVERY of 9.99GB.

Questions:
1) If I were to install Windows 7 on a newly created partition, ie. F drive (as my DVDRW is on E drive now), would I be able to format my C drive (after backing up data from it) and turn it into a storage drive?

2) If 1) is possible, should I partition F drive to 20-25GB as the norm capacity for Windows 7 OS installation, or should I allocate more space? (I'm asking this because I've never done an OS-only partition + Data-only partition in any computer I own because I don't see the usefulness of it LAST TIME.

3) If I had an OS partition in F drive, 20-25GB, and the Data partition on C drive (after formatting Vista), would I be able to swap these 2 drive letters so C drive becomes my Windows 7 OS Drive and F drive becomes my Data drive?

4) If that's the case, would I still be needing D drive (RECOVERY), or can I format->delete it?

5) Having 20-25GB in C drive, assuming I've swapped F drive with C drive, where would I be installing my applications? Do I need to install applications into the OS drive or can I install it in the Data drive? Because if it were the case that applications NEED to be installed into the OS drive, I'd need to allocate a little more space in now-C drive, right?

Dell :: BSOD M1730

Feb 20, 2010

My 1730 is not cooperating this morning. Been trying to figure out why Im having a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) everytime I try to open anything. It even crashed during a system restore and also during a power off at the Windows is Shutting Down screen.

Things had been working great up until last night. I was reading something on a webpage when I got a pop up window on the page I was on, and when I clicked the window closed, I crashed to blue screen of death.

Haven't been able to do much since then. Not sure if its hardware or software related, but I do notice that my McAfee isn't running now and when I try to update it says 'Components Are Missing' and to reinstall.

Can't get far enough in a reinstall before I crash again, so thats getting me no where.

I was able to do a system restore to a day earlier, but the problem is still there.

I also have no way to network in safe mode due to only having wireless internet access.

If anyone has any suggestions on where to get help to find out what might be causing the problem. Please let me know. I can follow instruction if anyone can walk me through what I need to look for.
