Sony :: Windows 7 X64 On Z, Getting Massive BSOD Attacks
Jul 21, 2009
I decided to try out Windows 7 x64 on my Z, build 7600. I download all the vista64 drivers from sonys website and installs Windows 7.
and then, I'm going to install the drivers, so first of all I go to windows update and it says I have 3 updates, I click to update, BSOD. restart, click search for new updates instead, BSOD.
Confused as I am I start to install drivers from sony instead, chipset and display driver installs fine..
I ran the intel wireless driver installer, BSOD
then i try to install shared library, BSOD. setting utility series, BSOD, event service, BSOD.
and about there I pretty much just gave up and wrote this post wondering w t f is going on.
My friend has a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium.
He got multiple viruses or his computer last week which led to many problems. While we were trying to remove the viruses, I think one of the antispyware programs deleted a system file since a system file had a virus in it. After restarting, the computer said "Missing Operating System". We've tried many things but to no avail. We would like to use the Dell Recovery Partition, but I can't seem to load up the Recovery Tool so it can boot the recovery partition. We've tried holding ctrl-F11 but nothing happens. In the mean time I've been able to boot up a live version of Ubuntu linux from a USB drive.
Is there any possible way to boot the recover partition and restore Windows?
At random times but every few minutes, I keep getting BSODs that reference tdx.sys.
The problem seems to occur only if my integrated Broadcom wired LAN adapter is connected. I recently ran it for a few hours straight while using wi-fi and no LAN and it did not BSOD at all.
I have read online it has to do with the Broadcom drivers, but even after updating the drivers, the problem still exists. I also tried uninstalling the drivers from Dev. Manager and letting Windows reinstall whatever it wanted. Still no dice.
I have an Acer 3100 laptop and I've been trying to install windows on it for the past few days. The problem is after Windows formats the drive and copies the files, i'll get the BSOD after it restarts. I've tried using a different hdd and ram. I've tried installing Windows XP and Vista. I tried loading an image of a fully loaded windows but that didn't work. I ran ram and hdd testes but no problems show up. I'm really out of ideas now. I also updated the BIOS but that didn't help.
I have a FW-550 F/B (specs here: [url]. I want to overclock it to 600/800. After using Riva Tuner to set the clocks, I always run a FurMark stability test (1280x1024, 4xAA), while monitoring the temps with GPU-Z. It always crashes to a black screen (the monitor doesn't turn off, I just stop hearing anything and later I get a loud buzzing noise). The only solution is to do a hard reboot.
- It's not a temp. problem, sometimes it crashes at 60C, sometimes at 70C
- The GPU is not faulty, at normal clocks I beat Far Cry 2, Dead Space, RE5, Crysis, and Fallout 3 at pretty high settings without a single crash. All those games push the GPU load to 100% and temps go up to nearly 70C.
Some interesting things
- I had this problem in Mass Effect at normal clocks. I lowered the settings until it was almost pixelated but it persisted. I did some research and it seems i wasn't the only one, so I stopped playing the game until I could find a solution
- After this problem, I checked the Event Viewer. Apparently, they're all bluescreens. The description says "Display is not active'", with the source being "atikmdag.sys "
Ive been dealing with windows vista on this labtop for awhile and i am tired of vista. I had previously tried putting in a XP disk and tried to reformat and got a BSOD when entering setup. So i decided to by a new harddrive for the computer because the old harddrive was small anyways. [url] I put the new harddrive in and bios recognized that the harddrive was there. I then put in the xp cd and tried to set up windows again. The same problem happened so I thought it might be the xp CD. I went to windows msdn and i downloaded windows xp professional NO SERVICE PACK(for free) and burnt the image file onto a cd. I then tried installing windows again, and another blue screen of death. My bios is A07 and there is a new bios A08 and i dont know if it will help. Ive been looking around for posts on similar problems and for dell labtops ive seen they have said to get sata drivers. There are none for the dell xps m1210 to my knowledge. If someone could show me where i can find them that would be great. Ive also read people going onto the dell bios and doing something with autodetect. My dell bios has no section about harddrive, its the worst excuse for a bios. I currently can use the old harddrive with vista, if i need to update any drivers but i cant find any drivers that would help in my situation. [url] Do i need to use a newer service pack of XP to work with newer hard drives ive read that service pack 1 supports sata harddrives larger than 137GB? The blue screen comes during windows setup.
Having some very strange Win7 RC install problems on my Timeline 3810T.
First - If the SATA was in AHCI mode in the BIOS, I would get a BSOD every time the partitioning was complete and copying files begun. When this was switched to IDE mode, installation went off without a hitch. This is with the machine's stock 320GB hard drive.
Second - I've received a Corsair P256 SSD drive, based on a new "very compatible" Samsung controller. After installing this SSD, the BSOD occurs no matter which mode I'm in (IDE or AHCI). I cannot seem to find a way around this. I've tried loading all different version of AHCI drivers from Intel for the ICH9M-E, but no go.
I have an XPS 1640 with the 3670 card. It came with vista, i put ubuntu on it, then figured it give win 7 ultimate 64bit a go since i got a free copy.
I had all the latest drivers/bios on it, and when I would try to resume from sleep id get a BSOD. Nothing suspicious in the event viewer, no dmp files anywhere. Just would not resume.
I tried fiddling with bios version and driver combos, and still nothing. The BSOD doesnt happen anymore, the machine just freezes on resume.
I bought this model in Japan Z71JB, Vista 64 premium, 4go ram, 320 HDD.
The problem is after getting hibernate, especially from sleep to deep sleep and when resume i got BSOD with " multiple IRP requests complete" and ve reboot fresh start. I ve some clue that Kaspersky internet security can be faulty.
Anyone with this error? Kaspersky user? im stuck with several BSOD on resume always the same.
I have ignored the issue as long as I can but I am too often losing my current state when I hibernate my pc.The screen powers down which makes me think that the hibernation is happening as normal. However I still see the HDD power light remaining active for say 10 minutes.
The computer then throws a blue screen of death and then powers down. When I reboot I get the message Windows did not shutdown successfully. Windows will ask me to upload the crash dump file to Microsoft but I never get any kind of feedback. This process is quite frustrating.
My Ideapad S510p has accrued over 10 BSODs over the past 2 weeks. It is totally random, not due to putting it in sleep mode, and apparently is caused by a failure in the ntoskrnl.exe and usbehci.sys.
I have tried looking for malfunctioning devices, and disabled bluetooth as it was apparently not working.
I also installed several new drivers. This solved nothing, and I am at a loss of what to do entirely.
I've been running on a T520 4239-CTO for a little over a year now without issue. I've been getting lots of random bsod and services crashing in the last few days; even Windows 7 cannot validate itself anymore.
I ran all the hardware checks in the provided Lenovo utilities and it all seems to pass. I didn't trust this so I manually checked the smart values on the hard disk and noticed around 2400+ reallocated sectors so I decided to replace the hard disk.
It should be noted that there are no viruses/malware on this machine. After receiving the new hard disk I did a factory restore using the dvd backups I made when I received the machine. Upon booting the new factory install on the new disk I'm still getting the same random bsod and issues with Windows 7 not being able to validate.
I notice that everytime I boot now on the newly restored os that the "Microsoft Software Protection Platform" service has issues and cannot start. I started doing some updates using the Thinkvantage tools and they're crashing too.
This machine is currently on pass 4 of memtest without any errors so far.
I've replaced the hard drive and from the looks of things so far the ram seems fine. Where do I go from here?
I've had my XPS 1340 for a few weeks. While everything is great, I keep getting crashes. I have had a two freezes where I had to hard boot it and 6 or 7 blue screens when trying to wake it up from sleep. Anyone have any ideas before I call Dell? I already updated everything.
i was surfing the web today using mozilla firefox, and for sum reason it became unresponsive on me, so i let it be, so it would become responsive again. once i had control of it again. the screen went blue. saying that sumthing went wrong and the computer had to restart. it restarted and when it tried to starting up windows the following message came.
"Boot Device Not Found

F2 System Diagnostics
For more information visit:[url]
the computer would not let me click the F2 key to run the diagnostics as well as when i tried to hold down the power button for at least a MINUTE it wouldnt turn off! it is just stuck on that screen!
its only been about a month. So far i am waiting for the battery to run out so i can try and turn it on to see what is wrong Im afraid to pull the battery as i think it may cause damage to the computer!
My 1730 is not cooperating this morning. Been trying to figure out why Im having a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) everytime I try to open anything. It even crashed during a system restore and also during a power off at the Windows is Shutting Down screen.
Things had been working great up until last night. I was reading something on a webpage when I got a pop up window on the page I was on, and when I clicked the window closed, I crashed to blue screen of death.
Haven't been able to do much since then. Not sure if its hardware or software related, but I do notice that my McAfee isn't running now and when I try to update it says 'Components Are Missing' and to reinstall.
Can't get far enough in a reinstall before I crash again, so thats getting me no where.
I was able to do a system restore to a day earlier, but the problem is still there.
I also have no way to network in safe mode due to only having wireless internet access.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to get help to find out what might be causing the problem. Please let me know. I can follow instruction if anyone can walk me through what I need to look for.
My 9months old XPS M1530 has still got the BSOD problem (after being replaced the faulty RAM). this morning i got the problem again but as i was dashing to my work i didn't take a note of the screen.
I had my computer running with a 3D screen saver at night . in the morning when i woke up found this nice BSOD(attached). but i couldn't figure out what has caused this problem. can some expert explain me plz?
I know people have had issues with the SXPS13 having the blue screen but my blue screen occurs whenever I do a windows update or install a newer video card driver.
I've read posts and none have helped in this particular issue.
This first happened in Vista Home (came with laptop) and bsod at EVERY startup so I boot to cd and installed Windows 7. Ran great until I installed the new nvidia drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com.
I read threads where people have had no issue installing them on sxps13's and received better video performance. I guess my question is: should I waste my time battling with dell to receive another lemon unit that will take a month to ship to me again, never ever ever upgrade my video drivers or possibly I don't have a bad unit
I decided to pick up Black and White 2 again since I have nothing better to do with my time but wreak havoc or maybe some good, haven't decided yet.
..anyways
I start the game (patched and up to date) and everything's fine until I hit a new cutscene, then the game freezes up and after a few moments I get my most favorite thing in the world: BSOD ()
Regular text "blah blah blah failed you suck at life uninstall kthxbye" It says the error is caused from nvlddmkm.sys.
I did some google-ing and came back with some kind of incompatibility between vista and nvidia drivers. I'm fully updated to SP1, I have the 177.70 forceware drivers; I've tried it with other drivers but it's still not working. Ive patched the game, tried it overclocking and not, and nothing seems to work.
the thing is during course work teacher told us to download vmware once i tried to run it i got the BSoD. the code was Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x8d885000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000,0x8edb9cf1) i didnt know acer doesnt provide recovery discs so i dint make one..
I get a BSOD just after the install disc loads all the drivers and says "starting windows". It also did this with a clean drive, thus I can't blame the restore partition, at least not in that case.
I tried using the restore partition, and just get "Error 100a". My internet connection here is too bad to do a lot of research on this.
The only install that worked was of a Vista Ult. on the clean drive. Vista Home freezes at "completing installation".
Ran Memtest and sector scans of both HDD's. All %100
I have an Envy 15 1060ea, i7-720qm, 4gb, 4830 etc.
I burnt off the recovery disks because i wanted to install my own version of windows 7 ultimate.
I did so, installed all the necessary drivers and avast anti-virus.
The problem i face is that if i install ANYTHING other than the ati drivers supplied by HP my laptop BSOD's on boot.
I have tried the 10.3 and the 10.2 from strags.com. Even the 9.9 beta from ati's website doesn't work.
The computer is running fine otherwise, without a single hiccup.
I cant overclock when the HP drivers are installed, and i have tried every possible tool, invluding atitool, rivatuner, atitray, and the amd gpu clock tool
I want to overclock the card a bit and get the full slew of options available, since the CCC that comes with the HP drivers is gimped.
i had more than 10 bsods now and the time period was as follows.
~5 bsods and solved by updating graphics drivers.
now, like 2 weeks later, it has been running fine and i decided i want to update my graphics driver by manually modding the inf file in the latest desktop drivers..
it did work out, but now it's giving me bsod errors everytime i close my laptop and come bak later to open it.
i also recently (today) installed a new realtek PCIe family controller driver..
so i dont know which driver is causing the bsod (0x50 non-paged fault)
right now my gfx is on 8.661 (found on a website, but WHQL certified)
I was checking my email then all of the sudden, I got Dell's BSOD. I restarted it, when I got into desktop, BSOD again. So I decided restore (clone, I used it 2 times before this happened). The restoration was successful, but when I boot it up, after Windows logo, nothing, blank screen. So I did it again, restoring it. But again, blank screen. Then I decided to do a fresh clean install of XP, but when I tried to delete that partition, BSOD. I booted up again from the XP CD, I found it had been deleted. So I made a new partition, and format it (NTFS - slow method), but when it got into the middle of copying the files, it said it can't copy the files.
In the moment, I am formatting the hard drive into massive one, instead of two partition. I doubt it that it will work.
What's the problem with my Dell Latitude D600?
Do you think that's the hd?
Just FYI, before this happen, I was thinking of upgrading the hd into bigger hd.
Edit: Yup, it failed. Btw, my D600 is at least 5 years old, original hd.
