0x00000000,0x8edb9cf1) i didnt know acer doesnt provide recovery discs so i dint make one..
im getting a bsod or it dosent boot when there is 4 gb ram but it works fine on 2 or 2.5 gb.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 3100 laptop and I've been trying to install windows on it for the past few days. The problem is after Windows formats the drive and copies the files, i'll get the BSOD after it restarts. I've tried using a different hdd and ram. I've tried installing Windows XP and Vista. I tried loading an image of a fully loaded windows but that didn't work. I ran ram and hdd testes but no problems show up. I'm really out of ideas now. I also updated the BIOS but that didn't help.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Acer Aspire 5315 and was running Bios v1.33. It has been running warm for sometime and thought an updated BIOS would help.
I tried the ACER site but didn't see any BIOS updates listed for XP. I have XP Pro on it now.
I followed a different link and found BIOS 1.45 so i Flashed it using WinFlash.
After it completed it shut down, i waited a couple of min. and powered back up, when i did i saw the BSOD for about 2 seconds and then goes to selective startup (Normal, Safe, Safe w/networking etc...)
I have not tried safe mode yet but in normal it just goes back to that screen again.
I saw the thread on using the FN+ESC mode but not sure if i really need to do that.
what I should do to restore it back to 1.33? I have to check my external HD but i think i still have that 1.33 version saved that i used when i did it the first time.
Having some very strange Win7 RC install problems on my Timeline 3810T.
First - If the SATA was in AHCI mode in the BIOS, I would get a BSOD every time the partitioning was complete and copying files begun. When this was switched to IDE mode, installation went off without a hitch. This is with the machine's stock 320GB hard drive.
Second - I've received a Corsair P256 SSD drive, based on a new "very compatible" Samsung controller. After installing this SSD, the BSOD occurs no matter which mode I'm in (IDE or AHCI). I cannot seem to find a way around this. I've tried loading all different version of AHCI drivers from Intel for the ICH9M-E, but no go.
I'd really like to unleash this SSD

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an Aser Aspire 5610 - 2328. The model is 5610z. I have the same issue with my webcam and it is orbicam with logitech software. I also here the unplugging sound and also get BSOD's. My laptop is under warranty and it has been sent in to be checked. They could not find any issues also when I click the orbicam icon first try it shows it disconnected. I try again it works. They still claim its working and nothing they can do they have also seen what it doese when clicking on the icon and still claim its working.
Not sure if they really checked the connections I will look into it. It is under warranty thru Wal-Mart and was sent to a place called Cyber Test in Longwood Florida.
I've been getting the BSOD error on my PC. The main ewrror is 0x000000f4 but I sometimes get the 77 error as well. Most times i need to reboot and then I get the 200 fixed hard disk 0 failed error . If I click F! i get yet another error, PXE.61 error and this takes my rebooting quite a few times in order to get windows xp (media center edition) to come uo it stays on for a while (the length of time is getting shorter and shoryer these days) and then I have to go through the entire scenario over again. I'm trying to remove the files and programs that I actually care about off this comp. I contacted Acer tech support and was told that it most likely a HArd drive problem and that it would need to be replaced They had the wrong warranty ending date for me and after providing proof of purchase, they changed it to 11/23/07. Now that I have about 8 days left on my warranty. the tech support person told me to purchase the extended warranty because if I ship it to them and the warranty expires, I will have to pay for the service. Now my question is this. I'm not too sure that it would be worth shipping it to them for repairs I will have to pay $99 for the warranty plus tax and At least $100 to ship it back to them. On top of that I have read horror stories about people who sent their comps in to be repaired and it being returned to them with scratches on the LCD, initial problems not repaird or additional problems after the comp was returned to them. I'd much rather carry it in to a shop but was told their are no local repair shops in my city except for geek squad and they will charge me since I didn't purchase my comp from them. WHat would you do take it to a local repair shop or pay the bugcks to extend the warranty and then pay to have it shipped to be repaired? Another reason why I am leery is because I bought a HP laptop last year. the Ac adapter jack ont he comp was loose so I shipped it to HP to have it repaired. they had my comp for almost a month and then told me the motherboard, keyboard, speakers, and LCD display was unsalvageable and that it would cost me over $1000 to have it replaced(i only paid $369 for it on black Friday). They also told me that I had a liquid spill which was a total lie as I keep my laptop in my bedroom and I never eat or drink in my bedroom.( come to find out that loose jacks are a known problem with some Hp laptops I have read horror storeies about Acer using the dreaded liquid spill excuse too and I don't want to go through the drama again. Are the BSOD errors definitely the fault of a faulty hard drive?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi laptop and it has a built-in OrbiCam, every once in a while I hear a sound as if I was plugging/unplugging an USB device, sometimes it does that twice and then stops but there's times, like a few mins ago, that it goes crazy and I get a Blue Screen.
The message I get is "File lv321.sys has caused an error. Page fault in non paged area" and makes me restart.
After I do that, Microsoft Error Reporting tells me that I should update the drivers although I already did that or to unplug the camera, which is impossible since it's built in.
I have searched on Google but couldn't find much information except perhaps the wires that connect the camera might be loose/damaged and that's what causing it.
I have disabled it on the Device manager but it won't solve anything.
Is there a way to completely disable the camera port?
What can I do to fix it?
The laptop is almost 2 years old and is not under warranty.
I'm getting a BSOD while trying to run a few small indie games (reflexive arcade), Diablo II as well. The title will begin to load then I'll be taken to a BSOD shortly thereafter, the screen goes pretty quick and I'm unable to read it. A handful of other, similar games run fine, not sure what the issue is.

Just curious, would the V13 with lowest processor be able to run a XP VM (w/ VMware) fine? Does anyone do this? I am a bit worried with 1.3GHz and 2gb RAM, but the under $450 price tag is making me hope it would work... Do you think that the dual core would help this at all? I mean, I would still have the 2gb RAM limitation even with that.
Otherwise, what would you suggest? I would like to keep my purchase under $500 and 13in class business laptops preferred. I don't mind buying from Outlet (I prefer it). I was thinking (hoping) that worst case scenario I haggle Dell on the 3300 or a new v13, or vostro 1320, but I HIGHLY doubt I can get them down that much.

I'm using the notebook right now, waiting for a blue screen. None so far with a single 1 gig stick. I tested both stick's by themselves no errors, as soon as I use both i get bsods left and right.
Both are Pny 667 1 gig sticks, But i was cheap and since i had a stick already, i snagged another off Ebay. I guess they weren't well matched.
I'm going to test both slots and make sure there's no errors. So i guess it's a lesson not to be to cheap and just buy in pairs.
One more thing i might try is to lower the shared video memory, i noticed that some programs are reporting to much memory allocated to video.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with VMware and Windows 7 64-bit. I was running VMware with Windows XP 32-bit, but having since installed Windows 7 64-bit. I am not able to get VMware to work with the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I believe this is because when I installed VMware I selected the 32-bit OS option because this was what I had when I was running Windows XP via boot camp. Is there anyway to get VMware to work with Windows 7 64-bit without reinstalling VMware. It's starting to get a little annoying booting into 7 with Boot Camp.

I may as well use it in windows since I have a working copy for that. However, I know bootcamp yields the best result but I want/need to be in osx also instead of isolating myself totally when I use Maya so between parallels and vmware, which would run Maya better? after restoring my bootcamp partition from my back up, I can not figure out how to get it to work with VMware. VMware has the special boot camp spot but it won't start up my bootcamp. I have had this problem before and my solution was to completely uninstall VMware and then do the set up it gives you(I don't feel like doing that). So I need to re-add my bootcamp partition some how. Anyone know how to do that with out having to re-install VMware?

I've seen a few things like non apple HDDs not being recognised or being slow. I'm just wondering if this is still the case? If I buy a bigger HDD will it work?

I upgraded to Windows 7 today on my Fusion Virtual Machine on my Macbook today. I preceded it with a Time Machine backup, and it copied a few gigabytes, which I expected since I installed CS4 the other day.
Two hours later...
I installed the Windows 7 upgrade, and then did another Time Machine backup. This time it copied 36 gigabytes (the amount of my virtual machine file).
This got me thinking... Does Time Machine backup the entire virtual machine file each time there is a slight change? If so, then merely launching Windows in Fusion would be enough for Time Machine to backup the virtual machine file, using almost 40 gig on my backup drive most every time I launch time machine backup, even though the change is minor (a few bytes)
The consequence is that for a Fusion user, the backup device is going to fill awfully fast because of the relatively minor changes to the VM file, thus making for paltry space for history on all the Mac files.
I figure that a 320 Gig backup device is effectively extremely tiny for a 250 Gig HDD with only 90 Gig of files. My backup drive is already full after only ~8 backup sessions, hence deleting old history, which is hardly a few months old!
I use my boot camp partition in Vmware. How do I make a bootable copy of that? I want to know because in Boot camp I'm gonna install Windows 7, but I might still need XP so I was thinking about using Vmware for that.

I've been trying to get Quake Live to run in my XP VM on fusion.
It has Internet Explorer 8 installed. When I enter the game I get this really weird sound stuttering and 1fps in game.
Theres been reports that it works perfectly fine in Parrallels.
I've never used Windows on my Mac since I have my PC for PC things, but yeah, which is better in terms of speed and features?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up VMware fusion and win7 it pretty much makes my computer un-usable while it loads,(programs become un responsive) witch takes about 10 min. Then after it finally gets into windows it take another 10 min to finish loading, but programs become usable with some lag. The weird thing is, is that it's not even using half of my CPU or all of my RAM. After all that, and it finishes loading it is usable. Anyone else have this problem? I'm giving it 2gb of ram, and it's 64bit win 7 RC.

its almost to the point of being usless as it doesnt flow as nice as in bootcamp.
what settings are you using? i allocated 1GB Ram and 1 CPU.
if you can run VMWare or Parallels off of a bootcamp drive, however I CAN'T afford to buy that. So instead I got Virtual Box. Now virtual Box wasn't in the stickies so I think this should be ok to discuss, if not please feel free to delete it Mods. Anyway, I can't figure out how to get the Virtual Box to load from my Bootcamp drive. Anyone else use this and know what to do? I dont want to have to delete that partition or create a new one just to use VB. I don't have a large enough Hard Drive.
