Jan 2, 2009im getting a bsod or it dosent boot when there is 4 gb ram but it works fine on 2 or 2.5 gb.

Acer :: BSOD While Installing Windows
Dec 2, 2008I have an Acer 3100 laptop and I've been trying to install windows on it for the past few days. The problem is after Windows formats the drive and copies the files, i'll get the BSOD after it restarts. I've tried using a different hdd and ram. I've tried installing Windows XP and Vista. I tried loading an image of a fully loaded windows but that didn't work. I ran ram and hdd testes but no problems show up. I'm really out of ideas now. I also updated the BIOS but that didn't help.

Sep 6, 2009I have Acer Aspire 5315 and was running Bios v1.33. It has been running warm for sometime and thought an updated BIOS would help.
I tried the ACER site but didn't see any BIOS updates listed for XP. I have XP Pro on it now.
I followed a different link and found BIOS 1.45 so i Flashed it using WinFlash.
After it completed it shut down, i waited a couple of min. and powered back up, when i did i saw the BSOD for about 2 seconds and then goes to selective startup (Normal, Safe, Safe w/networking etc...)
I have not tried safe mode yet but in normal it just goes back to that screen again.
I saw the thread on using the FN+ESC mode but not sure if i really need to do that.
what I should do to restore it back to 1.33? I have to check my external HD but i think i still have that 1.33 version saved that i used when i did it the first time.
Acer :: 3810T Strange Windows 7 BSOD
Jul 2, 2009Having some very strange Win7 RC install problems on my Timeline 3810T.
First - If the SATA was in AHCI mode in the BIOS, I would get a BSOD every time the partitioning was complete and copying files begun. When this was switched to IDE mode, installation went off without a hitch. This is with the machine's stock 320GB hard drive.
Second - I've received a Corsair P256 SSD drive, based on a new "very compatible" Samsung controller. After installing this SSD, the BSOD occurs no matter which mode I'm in (IDE or AHCI). I cannot seem to find a way around this. I've tried loading all different version of AHCI drivers from Intel for the ICH9M-E, but no go.
I'd really like to unleash this SSD

Apr 20, 2009I have an Aser Aspire 5610 - 2328. The model is 5610z. I have the same issue with my webcam and it is orbicam with logitech software. I also here the unplugging sound and also get BSOD's. My laptop is under warranty and it has been sent in to be checked. They could not find any issues also when I click the orbicam icon first try it shows it disconnected. I try again it works. They still claim its working and nothing they can do they have also seen what it doese when clicking on the icon and still claim its working.
Not sure if they really checked the connections I will look into it. It is under warranty thru Wal-Mart and was sent to a place called Cyber Test in Longwood Florida.
Acer :: Aspire 5102- BSOD Error
Nov 15, 2007I've been getting the BSOD error on my PC. The main ewrror is 0x000000f4 but I sometimes get the 77 error as well. Most times i need to reboot and then I get the 200 fixed hard disk 0 failed error . If I click F! i get yet another error, PXE.61 error and this takes my rebooting quite a few times in order to get windows xp (media center edition) to come uo it stays on for a while (the length of time is getting shorter and shoryer these days) and then I have to go through the entire scenario over again. I'm trying to remove the files and programs that I actually care about off this comp. I contacted Acer tech support and was told that it most likely a HArd drive problem and that it would need to be replaced They had the wrong warranty ending date for me and after providing proof of purchase, they changed it to 11/23/07. Now that I have about 8 days left on my warranty. the tech support person told me to purchase the extended warranty because if I ship it to them and the warranty expires, I will have to pay for the service. Now my question is this. I'm not too sure that it would be worth shipping it to them for repairs I will have to pay $99 for the warranty plus tax and At least $100 to ship it back to them. On top of that I have read horror stories about people who sent their comps in to be repaired and it being returned to them with scratches on the LCD, initial problems not repaird or additional problems after the comp was returned to them. I'd much rather carry it in to a shop but was told their are no local repair shops in my city except for geek squad and they will charge me since I didn't purchase my comp from them. WHat would you do take it to a local repair shop or pay the bugcks to extend the warranty and then pay to have it shipped to be repaired? Another reason why I am leery is because I bought a HP laptop last year. the Ac adapter jack ont he comp was loose so I shipped it to HP to have it repaired. they had my comp for almost a month and then told me the motherboard, keyboard, speakers, and LCD display was unsalvageable and that it would cost me over $1000 to have it replaced(i only paid $369 for it on black Friday). They also told me that I had a liquid spill which was a total lie as I keep my laptop in my bedroom and I never eat or drink in my bedroom.( come to find out that loose jacks are a known problem with some Hp laptops I have read horror storeies about Acer using the dreaded liquid spill excuse too and I don't want to go through the drama again. Are the BSOD errors definitely the fault of a faulty hard drive?

Apr 15, 2009I have an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi laptop and it has a built-in OrbiCam, every once in a while I hear a sound as if I was plugging/unplugging an USB device, sometimes it does that twice and then stops but there's times, like a few mins ago, that it goes crazy and I get a Blue Screen.
The message I get is "File lv321.sys has caused an error. Page fault in non paged area" and makes me restart.
After I do that, Microsoft Error Reporting tells me that I should update the drivers although I already did that or to unplug the camera, which is impossible since it's built in.
I have searched on Google but couldn't find much information except perhaps the wires that connect the camera might be loose/damaged and that's what causing it.
I have disabled it on the Device manager but it won't solve anything.
Is there a way to completely disable the camera port?
What can I do to fix it?
The laptop is almost 2 years old and is not under warranty.

Jul 6, 2007I'm getting a BSOD while trying to run a few small indie games (reflexive arcade), Diablo II as well. The title will begin to load then I'll be taken to a BSOD shortly thereafter, the screen goes pretty quick and I'm unable to read it. A handful of other, similar games run fine, not sure what the issue is.

Driver irql not less or equal BSOD occurs when I surf the net using Mozilla Firefox... I just open up a few more pages and some downloads or download... and it appears...
McAfee Antivirus could have some problems? or my Nvidia Geforce 9500M GS drivers? ( Forceware 179.28 beta, from Nvidia site)

Acer :: Travelmate 2450 Bsod Errors With 2x1gig Sticks
Oct 23, 2009I'm using the notebook right now, waiting for a blue screen. None so far with a single 1 gig stick. I tested both stick's by themselves no errors, as soon as I use both i get bsods left and right.
Both are Pny 667 1 gig sticks, But i was cheap and since i had a stick already, i snagged another off Ebay. I guess they weren't well matched.
I'm going to test both slots and make sure there's no errors. So i guess it's a lesson not to be to cheap and just buy in pairs.
One more thing i might try is to lower the shared video memory, i noticed that some programs are reporting to much memory allocated to video.

I have tried mashing f2 a million times, but no luck. f12, f8, ...none of these get me into the BIOS.
What key combo will get me into the BIOS?
I have BSOD and cant access Windows via Safe Mode, but only the command prompt from Windows Repair.
The BSOD is a 7b meaning some disk issue...tried all troubleshooting like unplugging all peripherals, removing RAM 1 board at a time, swapping RAM position....etc.

Jun 27, 2009i was surfing the web today using mozilla firefox, and for sum reason it became unresponsive on me, so i let it be, so it would become responsive again. once i had control of it again. the screen went blue. saying that sumthing went wrong and the computer had to restart. it restarted and when it tried to starting up windows the following message came.

the computer would not let me click the F2 key to run the diagnostics as well as when i tried to hold down the power button for at least a MINUTE it wouldnt turn off! it is just stuck on that screen!
its only been about a month. So far i am waiting for the battery to run out so i can try and turn it on to see what is wrong Im afraid to pull the battery as i think it may cause damage to the computer!

Feb 20, 2010My 1730 is not cooperating this morning. Been trying to figure out why Im having a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) everytime I try to open anything. It even crashed during a system restore and also during a power off at the Windows is Shutting Down screen.
Things had been working great up until last night. I was reading something on a webpage when I got a pop up window on the page I was on, and when I clicked the window closed, I crashed to blue screen of death.
Haven't been able to do much since then. Not sure if its hardware or software related, but I do notice that my McAfee isn't running now and when I try to update it says 'Components Are Missing' and to reinstall.
Can't get far enough in a reinstall before I crash again, so thats getting me no where.
I was able to do a system restore to a day earlier, but the problem is still there.
I also have no way to network in safe mode due to only having wireless internet access.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to get help to find out what might be causing the problem. Please let me know. I can follow instruction if anyone can walk me through what I need to look for.

Mar 7, 2009I know people have had issues with the SXPS13 having the blue screen but my blue screen occurs whenever I do a windows update or install a newer video card driver.
I've read posts and none have helped in this particular issue.
This first happened in Vista Home (came with laptop) and bsod at EVERY startup so I boot to cd and installed Windows 7. Ran great until I installed the new nvidia drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com.
I read threads where people have had no issue installing them on sxps13's and received better video performance. I guess my question is: should I waste my time battling with dell to receive another lemon unit that will take a month to ship to me again, never ever ever upgrade my video drivers or possibly I don't have a bad unit

I start the game (patched and up to date) and everything's fine until I hit a new cutscene, then the game freezes up and after a few moments I get my most favorite thing in the world: BSOD ()

I did some google-ing and came back with some kind of incompatibility between vista and nvidia drivers. I'm fully updated to SP1, I have the 177.70 forceware drivers; I've tried it with other drivers but it's still not working. Ive patched the game, tried it overclocking and not, and nothing seems to work.
Sony :: BSOD's While Overclocking
Feb 15, 2010I have a FW-550 F/B (specs here: [url]. I want to overclock it to 600/800. After using Riva Tuner to set the clocks, I always run a FurMark stability test (1280x1024, 4xAA), while monitoring the temps with GPU-Z. It always crashes to a black screen (the monitor doesn't turn off, I just stop hearing anything and later I get a loud buzzing noise). The only solution is to do a hard reboot.
- It's not a temp. problem, sometimes it crashes at 60C, sometimes at 70C
- The GPU is not faulty, at normal clocks I beat Far Cry 2, Dead Space, RE5, Crysis, and Fallout 3 at pretty high settings without a single crash. All those games push the GPU load to 100% and temps go up to nearly 70C.
Some interesting things
- I had this problem in Mass Effect at normal clocks. I lowered the settings until it was almost pixelated but it persisted. I did some research and it seems i wasn't the only one, so I stopped playing the game until I could find a solution
- After this problem, I checked the Event Viewer. Apparently, they're all bluescreens. The description says "Display is not active'", with the source being "atikmdag.sys "
Maybe it's a driver issue?

Mar 15, 2010I get a BSOD just after the install disc loads all the drivers and says "starting windows". It also did this with a clean drive, thus I can't blame the restore partition, at least not in that case.
I tried using the restore partition, and just get "Error 100a". My internet connection here is too bad to do a lot of research on this.
The only install that worked was of a Vista Ult. on the clean drive. Vista Home freezes at "completing installation".
Ran Memtest and sector scans of both HDD's. All %100

Mar 10, 2010I have an Envy 15 1060ea, i7-720qm, 4gb, 4830 etc.
I burnt off the recovery disks because i wanted to install my own version of windows 7 ultimate.
I did so, installed all the necessary drivers and avast anti-virus.
The problem i face is that if i install ANYTHING other than the ati drivers supplied by HP my laptop BSOD's on boot.
I have tried the 10.3 and the 10.2 from strags.com. Even the 9.9 beta from ati's website doesn't work.
The computer is running fine otherwise, without a single hiccup.
I cant overclock when the HP drivers are installed, and i have tried every possible tool, invluding atitool, rivatuner, atitray, and the amd gpu clock tool
I want to overclock the card a bit and get the full slew of options available, since the CCC that comes with the HP drivers is gimped.
