Dell Inspiron 15R :: BSOD - Will Not Boot To OS

Jan 14, 2015

I have an inspiron 15r, about a year old that returns a BSOD upon boot.

The problem is with Iastor.sys - which I understand is Matrix Storage Manager.

My problem is none of the regular boot options work. No safe mode, no last good config.

Would it be possible to just download a new iastor.sys and replace the existing file with a new one via repair console?

Dell Inspiron 2105 :: BSOD Without Options At Boot

Jan 27, 2015

Here is my HW: Dell inspiron 15iR-2105 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits

My wife said she just fell a sleep with her computer on, ok but now her comp won't boot at all.

Here is the history:

1) At first boot the next morning she was getting IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have tried all the options after pressing F8 without any success the comp kept on rebooting and showing the BSOD or 2 options start windows 7 normally or start windows 7 repair (recommended). When I select either of these I get the BSOD (IRQL....)

2) The command prompt was getting stuck on aswRvrt which I found out to be an avast file. 3) I wanted to secure my wife's data first so I removed the HDD used an USB adapter and connected to my computer and was able to get all of her data. I also was able to remove (so I think) avast from here comp by using www.avast.com/uninstall-utility and run it on her HDD. I also removed all avast driver in windows/system32/driver from her comp because after removing only the aswRvrt another avast driver was getting stuck (aswVmm)4) Now I still get the BSOD and when using command prompt, it gets stuck on classpnp5) I found that ALT + F9 would show me this:

Edit boot optionEdit windows boot option for: Windows 7Path:WindowsSystem32Winload.exePartition 1Hard Disk 9430081d

/NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

Press Enter To Sumbit

I do not know how to use this option so I just hit ENTER.

Dell :: XPS M1530 BSoD And Now Won't Boot

Oct 28, 2009

My XPSm1530 gave me a BSOD error, but it only flashed on the screen quickly, and I couldn't write it down.

Now the system won't boot: it gets to the windows loading bar, and restarts over and over.

I have tried Safe Mode, but it freezes when crcdisk.sys is trying to load.

I also can't boot from the Vista OS CD, as the system just freezes up at 'press any key to boot from CD'

Apple :: Getting The BSoD While In Boot Camp

Mar 28, 2009

I've been noticing whenever I run XP in boot camp I'll get the BSod much more often than running XP on a dedicated Windows machine. For example I got the BSoD the other day while just attempting to save my Word doc. I'll get BSoD for other weird reasons like switching the screen resolutions, closing windows, and opening simple programs. I never had problems like this with my old laptops. For some reason I think Apple is just doing this so users will think Windows OS are more prone to crashes.

Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y510p Refuses To Boot - BSOD

Jun 20, 2013

I have my Ideapad y510p laptop and it is refusing to boot. Basically, I was simply restarting my computer and then it stopped working. The computer seemed to have been getting finicky lately and taking longer too boot prior to this issue, but that may just be me. When I press the power button the Lenovo logo pops up and the spinning thing starts. This spins for an extremely long time then a BSoD appears and the laptop reboots.

And for a split second the BSoD flashes "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" (the BSoD sits for a few seocnds then this message pops up for a very short amount of time, I had to film it and go frame by fram to figure out what it said) On the next boot cycle a little "Preparing Automatic Repair" pops up. This goes on for a long time too, and when it finishes it takes me to a blue screen asking for my keyboard layout. Upon selection I am greeted with an option to troubleshoot or turn off the PC. Troubleshoot then allow me to refresh my PC, reset my PC, and advanced options. The refresh option when selected states "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." The reset option brings up a "Please Wait" then comes up with an error stating "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing." Under the advanced options I am presented with an option to do a system restore, which errors out and tells me to specify which Windows installations to restore, an option to do a system image recover, which errors out giving me the error code 0x80070002, an option to do a startup repair, which then says that it could not repair my PC and nothing is listed under "Log file", an option to adjust my UEFI Firmware Settings, which just loads up the BIOS, and an option to load up the command prompt. The command prompt is where things start to get intresting.

I ran diskpart then list disk and list volume, list disk returned "There are no fixed disks to show" and list volume returned "There are no volumes." I proceeded to run chkdsk /r /f /x but that returned that the drive was write protected, which I am assuming is because I am running off the recovery x drive. I also ran sfc /scannow which stated that there are pending repairs and that I need to restart to fix them. So, after all this it would appear that my hard drive is not mounted or malfunctioning. However, in the BIOS the hard drive is listed, also I tried changing from AHCI to compatible and that yeilded no results. I then proceeded to simply try to use the novo button and do a system restore, however when I tried this it poped up a screen saying "Windows is loading files" and when the progressbar completed the computer reset and when back to the boot screen and put me back where I started.

I tried booting from a USB flash drive and a USB CD drive and both of them failed and just reset the computer and brought me back to the boot loop. I tried reseting the BIOS, pulling the power plug and battery and holding the power button for 20 seconds, and a BIOS update to v3.05 (I used the CMD prompt to open notepad then navigate to a folder that contained the BIOS update exe and updated the BIOS), and none of these worked. I then proceeded to pull the hard drive from the laptop and stick it in my desktop. I tried booting off this hard drive on my desktop, but this did not work. I was able to grab all my data from the drive and back it up on my desktop perfectly fine.

Also, when I loaded up disk management, I noticed another 350mb recovery partition. Shortly after getting the laptop I made a post on these forums asking about what all the partions on the primary hard drive and I included a picuture of the disk management (the thread with image can be seen here) and in that picture there is only one 350mb recovery, however, now there is two. Not sure if this is of any use or not, but I am just trying out be as through as possible. Also, I ran a chkdsk of the primary partition (c drive when on the laptop) when I had it in my desktop and that did not work any.

HP Pavilion G6 2010tx Lockups :: BSOD - Unmountable Boot Volume

Aug 13, 2012

I was using my notebook pc when it suddenly crashed with the BSOD popping up giving the error:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Technical Information: ***STOP: 0x000000ED (OxFFFFFA8005252870,0xFFFFFFFFC00000B5,Ox0000000000000000,Ox0000000000000000)

On restarting I was given two options:
1. Launch Startup Repair - Choosing option 1 gave me an error message HP Recovery window stating - Create file fail. On clicking Ok, it takes me to another screen (HP recovery manager window) stating Recovery not supported under current configuration, please enable accelearation option for intel Smart Technology and try again. When I click Ok the screen closes and the computer shuts off.
2. Start Windows Normally - Choosing Option 2 gets me back to the BSOD with the same error

Then I tapped on F8 while stating up. I was given a host of options:
1. Repair your computer - Error window (Windows Script Host) Script: X:Rita-toolStart.vbs; Line: 93; Char:14; Eror: The system cannot find the file specified; Code 80070002; Sourcenull). then it goes back to the error reported earlier for Launch Startup repair
2. Safe mode - BSOD same error
3. Safe mode with networking
4. Safe mode with command prompt
5. Enable boot logging
6. Enable low-resolution video (640x480)
7. Last known good configuration (Advanced) - BSOD same error
8. Directory Services Restore mode
9. Debugging mode
10. Disable automatic restart on system failure
11. Disable driver signature enforcement
12. Start Windows normally

I did not try any of the other options as I was not sure what it was. Then I tapped F2 while starting up and went into the HP Advanced Systems Diagnostics screen. There were a lot of options for running tests.

Every test I run ends up as failed. Failure ID: 0U6G3A-63C785-MFPX0J-60R803. It always says Hard Disk Short DST: Failed

Bottom line is any option I take it gives me one of two errors, either the BSOD UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME or the error that my repair utility cannot create a file.

My system information:
Model: HP Pavilion g6 2010tx Notebook PC

Dell :: Inspiron 1720, BSoD After Installing 4GB RAM

Dec 14, 2008

I purchased CT699854 4GB kit (2GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM from Crucial.com for my Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. The machine already had 2GB in two 1GB chips for both slots.

When I installed the new chips, Windows Vista Home Premium refused to boot. BIOS recognized the new RAM without problems, but when Windows started to load I immediately got a 0x7b stop error. This is strange, because that usually coincides with an AHCI problem, but that's already turned on in the BIOS with Turbo Memory and works fine.

When I take ONE of those 2GB chips out, leaving an empty DIMM slot, it boots fine. When I use one new 2GB chip in conjunction with one of the old 1GB chips, it boots fine and Vista recognizes 3GB of RAM. But when I push it to 4GB, I get the 0x7b BSoD. I've used all combinations of new and old chips, and it appears the new chips aren't bad as far as I can tell.

Tried Startup Repair many times. Toggled SATA Operation in BIOS to both ATA and AHCI.  Imaged the disk, and did a Factory Restore via Startup Repair in AHCI mode then tried again in ATA.. I get the same exact error every time.  I am pretty sure that the virus messed with one of the other partitions that is required to boot.  I assume that I could order a CD and reinstall, but a way to repair this error.

Dell :: Inspiron 17r SE Will Not Boot

Mar 31, 2013

I have had my Dell Inspiron 17r SE laptop for nearly three months and it has functioned without any issues. All of a sudden the computer will no longer boot up. It reaches the screen where the Dell logo is displayed and then displays a black screen and fails to boot, remains on and does nothing. I called customer support and they had me take out the battery and discharge any remaining power by holding the power button for two minutes; this did not solve the problem. The customer service agent then instructed me to run the hardware diagnosis tests, which all passed which led the agent to conclude that my problems were software based. I was transferred to software support where, after being put on hold for over half an hour they tried to get me to pay for them to fix my problem.

I have a hard time envisioning ever dealing with Dell again, as I am extremely unsatisfied with both the product that they have shipped me and the customer support I have received. It is simply not acceptable for a laptop that cost me nearly a thousand dollars to stop working within three months, and then to be milked for more cash to fix a problem that seems to be common. I am a programming student, and to be without my laptop for any length of time is going to be a massive inconvenience.

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Won't Boot

Jan 10, 2010

My cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".

I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.

Here are some of the specs:

T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA HDD

Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?

Dell :: Inspiron 6000 Won't Boot

Jan 2, 2009

I just recently tried to power on my Inspiron 6000 and I got no display. The num lock, caps lock and another green light all lit up together briefly and that was it. The hard drive light blinked a couple times indicating the hard drive was trying to work, but nothing happened.

I put my ear to the laptop to see if I could hear the fans running and it appears the fans are on. The power button stays illuminated, so I know the laptop is on. The laptop just won't go through it's boot process at all and the screen is blank.

I just got my laptop back from Dell right before Christmas and the extended warranty expired the day after. They were fixing some cosmetic issues such as missing keys from the keyboard, the palm rest, etc. They also checked the functionality and performed all necessary changes to ensure my laptop was working properly as I purchased the complete care warranty initially.

I had just ordered new memory for it right before it stopped working. I have received the memory, but now the laptop doesn't work. I only had 512mb of memory originally so I ordered 2 Kingston 1 gb sticks to install. I've done some reading online and it seems my problem could be anything from a bad motherboard, memory, video card, etc. I don't want to post a novel but I can provide more info about the functionality of the laptop before sending it to Dell, if needed.

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Won't Boot Up

Nov 3, 2009

I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.

Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.

I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal

Basically what happens is, I press the power on button of my machine, everything appears to be normal, the power LED turns on, the Hard drive activity LED flickers on and the DVD drive "clicks" (im sure some Dell owners know what I mean by this) BUT then all the lights go out (besides the power) and nothing is shown on my screen, no BIOS loading, nothing.

Does anyone know what might cause this?

I tried yesterday to get it to work but after about 7 hours I just gave up, nothing I did changed anything (I thought the CPU/GPU may of come unattached from the motherboard but after reseating them the problem was still there
