i bought a windows game that requires 64 mb, and my dell inspiron e1705 only has a 32 mb, it said.
i tried running the game, then it gave me a blue screen. the attached image shows the error message that i got.
is there any way that i could expand/upgrade my 32 mb video card to a 64 to properly run it?

everything is great till now but i was checking to video card memory and its only showing 64MB ,, its should be 224 according to the specs "i know its 64MB dedicated memory"
i took a look to the BOIS and didn't find any option the increase the memory ,,, so what i have to do to take the full 224MB

Is there a way that i can change my video card memory. It says im using 32MB but my maximum is 1792MB. How to I make it run at 1792MB?

Can increase anything on my laptop to play this game faster?
I upgraded my daughters Inspiron 1520 to Windows 8 and everything works well. The only problem we are having is the memory card reader does not work. Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. We install the driver R188776.exe, install it, and re-boot, but the memory card reader still doesn't work.. Is there another driver we can install?

My configuration is: i7 2630QM, GT555M, 6 GB.i played video online and played game ( Skyrim, COD, A.V.A online) smoothly. But for 2, 3 months ago, my laptop slows down and spikes very much. When i watch video online, the screen will freeze 3 to 8 seconds but the sound is still playing. And all games that have run smoothly before, now they lagged too much, for example in Skyrim, when i start a conversation with a NPC, the game will freezes 2,3 seconds, and in the combat it freezes everytime when there's a sound is played (i.e screams, sound of sword slashing, footstep).

And i have re-installed the Win 7 ultimate, but nothing is fixed, i've updated all my drivers, BIOS, Graphic card, sound card, wifi.i can't do anything with my laptop now, even opening Google Chrome is not easy. i have a dell inspiron 1505 notebook. I bought it new about 1 year ago, i had it upgraded from dell with the 1.86 core 2 duo processor 1 gb of ram and a 128 ati x1300 mobility graphics card. 1 year ago most games only required a 128mb card which was fine, but now most seem to run on 256, there was a 256 option from dell for another 80 dollars on top of the other upgrade fee i already paid and i did not think it was necessary. So i know there is one out there. I have searched around on the internet for a while off and on and i can only find reviews of products i can not find any info on where you can actually buy an upgrade for this computer... I would like to get it upgraded to the 256 if it would not be too much. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
And also i play Battlefield 2142 occasionally and it had a freezing issue on the load screen so i dropped the graphic settings down a bit then it worked fine. But it has happened again, and i dropped the settings down as far as they can go with no luck it still does not work, and the EA tech told me to look for an update for my graphics card which i did and installed one that said it fixed "some gaming issues" but it did not fix the freezing issue.
I just finished installing Windows 7 on my new dv7-1285dx and while everything works just fine after a Windows update (audio/video/touchpad/sd card reader), when I run device manager there are three devices with no drivers and a small yellow exclamation mark on their icon. These three devices are all listed as "Base System Device" and when I tried searching for a driver update online it didn't find anything. I visited HP's drivers page for my model and I think I have everything listed there already working... It's just these three devices which I don't even know what they are.
In the original Vista install that came with the laptop there are no such errors in Device Manager. I already have my recovery discs if these might help in this situation.

1.I really didn't find much info on the (now not so) new white unibody Macbooks, expect some items for sale. And please, don't tell me that just buy the aluminum model for the extra $200, my question is strictly from an engineering point of view: heat. We all know aluminum Macbooks are quite hot, right? But how does the white unibody compares to the aluminum regarding heat issues?
2.What might be the reason that the whole bottom of the white unibody contcts the table beneath it, compared to the aluminum model, which has four rubber contact points on the four corners?
3.On the other thread I read a dedicated graphics card does not really add to battery consumption. Can you confirm that?
My main usage profile is office, web and seeing (HD, if available) Youtube videos. This one is rather a 15" vs. 13" Pro question, and half hypothetic. Let's say, all things are being equal on two models, the processor none the least, the only differences are one model has the integrated Nvidia, the other the integrated Intel plus discreet Nvidia combo, which one would serve me better, regarding performance and battery life? The discreet graphics would at least turn on when playing the HD videos?
4.Running native Windows (7 or XP) still suck on Macbooks, because of the drivers?

I purchased the laptop mid october from Dell.
A friend just showed me his new Dell Vostro lappy. He has 4 GB of DDR2 800mhz memory on it when compared to my 4 GB of DDR2 667mhz memory on my XPS 1530
However, under his windows experience score - he gets 5.9 score for memory operations while I just get a 5.1. I can't believe that a couple of hundred mhz can result in such a drastic difference.
Is there something optimized for his system but not for mine?

I may have to replace my fan assembly for a dv9500. There are 2 different parts, one for discrete video system memory and one for UMA type memory. Any suggestions on how to determine the type I have? I have had no luck finding it in the device manager.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am considering a new laptop. The HP I am consdering has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics with 128MB cache memory. The other I am considering is the Samsung R580 which has a smaller screen, smaller battery, but 512MB dedicated video. Since the HP has an 8 cell, it will get beter battery life.
So, the 4200 is integrated into the AMD Turion chip, yet has 128MB memory onboard for the graphics chip whereas the Samsung has a separate GPU?
Both laptops have bluray and are within $50 of each other in price.
On my experience index, I see that I have 1696 mb available in Video Memory, but only 64 mb dedicated.  Is there any way to increase that 'dedicated' amount? Â

Taking the Mini apart is very easy. Slide the putty knife, as others describe, into either side of the Mini, and just bend outward. That process takes under 30 seconds, and don't be afraid to make little scratches on the white plastic underneath. It WILL happen a little bit, but it's so minor that nobody will notice, and... well.... it's underneath! So who cares?
Here was my model Mini with 1GB, out of the box, with only 128MB Geforce 9400m available.
Taking it apart is VERY easy. Just remove the lid as described above, remove the 3 antennas from their clips (NOT from the motherboard). That takes about 5 seconds. Then unscrew the 4 screws in the corners of the system, taking special note of their original location! Then all you need to do is prop up the DVD drive and get your hand in there and remove the single DIMM. I was pleasantly surprised to see a 1GB DIMM in there already, not 2x 512MB, so for those wanting to upgrade to 2GB and not 4GB DDR3, you just need one stick of 1GB! Nice one, Apple! (I, of course, assume that ALL 1GB Minis come like this...)..........................
I have a g6-2002au notebook, running Win7 home premium 64bit on dual core 64bit cpus, 2.7ghz clocks and an AMD Radeon 7520G gpu, that is mostly used to preview (for a class) movie projects created in a video editor. And for video project files - stored on a usb stick inserted into one of the usb ports - that have a playing time longer than approx 4 minutes, the play presentation runs for a while and then becomes stuttering - pauses the image for a while, altho the audio continues, then the video seems to catch up, and after a short period repeats this stop and go activity. Like the editor keeps running out of data faster than its work space is filled up.

I sourced equivalent (to the original brand and specs) RAM memory to increase the installed RAM to 8Gb without apparent impact on this. A change of memory stick type - usb2 to usb3 - worked a bit but the issue remains. And disciussions with others using notebooks - Toshiba's actually - did not have this problem.

The dedicated video memory in the machine is 512mb (windows display settings details), and this probably isn't enough for video editing. With 8Gb of RAM now available, there should be plenty to enable me to increase the amount dedicated for video editing. Changing that seems to be a bios function, but there isn't any apparent/accessible setting in the Insyde F.03 bios on the machine to enable me to do that.Â

I have just recently purchased an HP 17-e049wm. This laptop has the AMD Radeon HD8650G integrated graphics with up to 4206MB of total memory. I understand that this graphics "card" uses the onboard memory to act as video memory. How can I increase or decrease the amount of memory allocated to the graphics? I don't seem to be able to make any changes from the BIOS. Is this something that adjusts automatically?
