Basically the hard drive (of my XPS m1530) has been going a bit slower than usual recently.
I figured it was just Vista been more sluggish than usual.
So I decided I'd back it up, wipe it and install my new copy of Windows 7 RTM.
After booting from the DVD, setup stopped halfway through giving me this '0x00000e9' error code.
I subsequently ran the dell diagnostics.
Which gave me this :
Hard Drive - DST
Test Results : Fail
Error code 2000-0142
Msg : hard drive 1 - Self test unsuccessful.
Status : 70

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop model is DELL XPS 11. when i press the power on button, the Dell logo came out and it loads "preparing automatic repair...", then the whole screen turned black, there is nothing on the screen but I can only see the mouse cursor.
What did i do?I rebooted the laptop and immediately pressed F12 to go into diagnotics. After scanning, there was an error code 2000-0142 and the error message was Hard drive 0 - short self test unsuccessful. I even tried to use recovery media to factory reset my laptop, but it failed.I did not open up my laptop to check for any cable connection problems, because I dont know if it will void my warranty. My laptop is still under warranty.
