We have purchased an HP Pavilion G6 2300st to our parents with Windows 8 installed. Unfortunately, they are having diffuculties to use Windows 8. So I thought that we need to downgrade to the windows 7.  I tried to install Windows 7 last night and I wasn't be able to do so because of Legacy Support and UEFI etc.  After that, little search on the web and I think I will be able to install windows 7 now. However, when I was searching on the web I realized there are many people have the same problem includign drivers problems. Then I find out that G6 2300st does not have W7 drivers.  I found someone here downgrade the G6-2306el to W7 in link. [URL] ......  Now here is the question; Can I use the same drivers that stated in those posts?
locate working drivers for G6 2300st for the Win7 OS?

It seems that Sony is updating their FTP with Win 7 drivers. Some drivers are Alps touchpad(Win 7/Vista 64-bit), Nvidia 186.56(Win 7/ Vista 64-bit), Intel chipset,
SATA driver, etc.
Link : ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/ (Look for the most recent dated drivers)
Where can I find the Windows 7 drivers for SZ series. Its a pity that sony just says that the hardware is not compatible. They just suck at the support which they should be providing and now us guys.
who have tried the RC and can gain from that experience to install the full upgrade.
I am wondering what will be with drivers when Windows 7 will be available. Now when I go to Sony website and try download drivers and utilities factory installed with my Vaio TT21 XN/B it is not available. Only one way of reinstallation is recovery partition (or DVD's) or semi clean install. But question is how to install Windows 7 when it will be available without drivers? When Microsoft will lunch W7 I am going to upgrade but how I will can do that?
IIt seems than Windows 7 brings many drivers, that works well - no need for installing all Software, which are suggestet here:

My first challange was to get Dualboot WinXP, and Win7x64 to work.
Short solution for the EFI GDT Problem //Edit: see VGN-Z Windows 7 x64 Drivers for a better way (with advanced Menu) (only needed for x64, if you doesnt want to format your disk)

I can not decipher Sony's support site. I have looked for windows 7 32 bit drivers but can't find them for my model, a Z590. I can't find them for any model. Are they hiding these for some reason? Why can't they be normal and just put up the drivers in a coherent fashion?
I just installed Windows 8 on my HDX 16 and I quickly found out the drivers for the network adapters are not installed by default. When I go to HP's website, there are no drivers for Windows 8, just Windows 7. When I tried installing windows 7 drivers, it told me it was the wrong verson. That was for the Ethernet port. For my wifi, it's telling me I need to have .net framework 2.0 or higher, and won't let me install that driver. After making sure I installed the latest version, it still doesn't detect that I have the latest .net.Â
I am loving W7. Its really slick and best of all simple. So far just about everything important seems to be working fine. I updated the nvidia driver. But there are some things that seem to be non-functional...
such as the the sound drivers (even though I get sound. Sound Blaster says I need them in order to install), webcam, bluetooth and scroll bars on the mouse pad.
I was wondering if there are any drivers that have been released that fix these issues. If not... oh well don't really care but it would be nice to have everything working.
I finally received my 14z yesterday afternoon and was excited to to install Windows 7 via USB.
I used this guide (Install Windows 7/Vista from USB drive) which worked flawlessly, but now
I'm wondering where you guys are downloading your x64 drivers. I'm also wondering where I can find drivers for two instances of "Base System Device" showing up in my Device Manager
I just noticed that if you go to Acer support page you will find that in some laptops there will be Acer official drivers for Windows 7. So if you have windows 7 and you need some drivers for your hardware to work ok, you might be lucky and find the right drivers there. There are some Acer's applications there as well.
Just choose your laptop and then in the Operating system drop down menu check if there is a Windows 7 option and pick the Windows 7 version you have, 32-bit or 64-bit. They are not all there that you might need but I guess in a couple of weeks more and more drivers are going to be uploaded on the site and more laptops are going to be supported.
It came with Win 7 Home Premium and I clean installed Win 7 Pro after I got it.
When I enter my Model number on Sony.com Drivers and Support, I can only see Win 7 Home Premium driver and no way to trick the website into showing me Win 7 Pro drivers.
I have installed recently Windows XP professional SP3 on My Acer Aspire 5920 notebook , after that I faced a problem on installing some drivers and most of the utilities.
Some of the drivers which I was unable to install are the audio driver and the modem even though I downloaded the drivers which supposed to be compatible with Windows XP from Acer website . I used this website [url]
None of the utilities also worked with me on Windows XP except the Acer eRecovery Management software.
When I tried to setup the Acer eAudio software I got the error message "This software can only be installed in authorized machine"
I also tried to install the audio driver but every time it ends up with the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
The audio driver is : Realtek High Definition Audio

I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64bit and not sure what drivers to install next.
I know I need an audio driver as I no longer have 5.1 sound, and possibly chipset and graphics drivers but I'm not sure where to get them from.
I cannot find any drivers for the HD 3650 card and I don't know which chipset the laptop has. I'm sure realtek will have the sound drivers though.
Is there anything else I will need?
I did see Acer had a drivers page but it says my laptop has the RS780 chipset, but when I googled this it said it had a HD 3200 graphics which I do not.
Can anyone confirm that the following driver can be used on my Vaio SR with the upgraded ATI graphics card? I am getting occasional crashes with the default Vista drivers.
