View 4 RepliesI'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
if the hp hdx is good for gaming ?
Here are the specs im getting
the single video card ( only available )
130m
4gb ddr3 memory
quad core processor
Crysis is an afterthought, so just the regular other games . I had a sager with
2gb ddr3 m
2.5 dual core
and 8800 gtx, and ran all the other game almost greatly except far cry 2, which had a bit of frame rate, and crysis . But I could play both at high, far cry 2 without any frame rate, but crysis with a bit .
I have a dv7-1135 nr laptop .. spec's are as follow's amd turion x2 rm-70 cpu speed is 2.0 each core. the problem I notice is that my cpu is slowing down at the wrong time.
I use the program cpu to determine that my cpu is dropping sometimes as low as 500mhz .
I know that laptops have a throttling function but i have that disabled . I have looked in the bios for that feature also and can not turn it off. can someone please Help as i do notice an extreme loss of power during gaming .
I'm probably going buy and HP laptop soon, the HDX 16"...
So therefore, I was wondering how the gaming is on your sexy HP. Not graphically wise or fps and such, but temp wise. For instance, how long do you get to game for before things get too hot or do you manage to keep things at decent temps for a full day worth of gaming
Personally I don't play too intensive games, mostly world of warcraft. Nothing hardcore like crysis and stuff. So i'd imagine i'd get some decent gaming hours as long as i keep things cool haha by getting a zalaman pc cooling pad and if i decided to undervolt.
I have dv7 with Intel Core 2 duo 2.4 and 512 Nvidia as my main entertaiment computer.I have few games which I like to play from time to time.Anyone do same with dv7?
I can play on full specs on CS Source but on Crysis I can play at medium and medium hgraphics to be perfect.
i want to play games on my laptop but every game i install has low fps for e.g wow, guild wars, gta and etc games like that i went on to can you run it site thing and i sed my cpu processor is too low but it cant be i have a amd dual core rm 70 any suggestions on what to do? my laptop is only 3 months old it is basically new it has 3gb ram 160gb hard drive nvidia geforce 8200 so it cant b any of dem
View 8 Replies View RelatedBuying a new laptop soon... choices are a HDX16t (P8400 and Nvidia 9600M GT 512MB) or a DV6t (T6400 and ATi HD 4650 1GB). I'm just looking to play Everquest 2, and even though it's a 2004 release, it's pretty intensive. So I'm wondering if I should deal with the slower CPU and slightly better GPU or vice versa?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHP has great customer service.....i have an hp compaq laptop and hp printer..and had great experience with customer service...they come to your place to collect n everything.
but one problem..they never seem to make laptops with high end specs...all their laptops have great design, great secondary features..but the specs never touch the gaming level.
especially the graphic cards.
of course they made the 20" dragon..but i am talking about smthg in 15 - 16" area.
are there any models out yet which have atleast 8600M GT?
I dont really want to bother reading through the enormous lounge topic, but has anyone tried out gaming on the DM3Z with Radeon 4330?
I'm specifically wondering how CoD4/5 plays and if you think CoD: MW2 would be playable on it (assuming I decide to get it,will wait for reviews).
Which one do you recomend for casual gaming?
8540p with 5100M or 8540w with 880M
Price difference is minimal, so i'm going for a configuration that will offer better gaming performance
It has the ability to plug in RCA cables but when I tried to play Wii on my laptop today there was a slight delay that would make it impossible to play.
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan any ENVY owners (any model is fine), comment on the cooling system, hardware temperatures, physical temperatures, etc.? And if anyone knows about the cooling system/features/vents for the ENVY 14.
Also, compare ENVY's gamingability to the m11x, MSI GE600 or MSI GX640, if possible.
Having an issue with my Envy. As soon as I got the machine I installed a SSD and clean copy of Win7. Drivers were downloaded from the thread in this forum section. The computer seems completely fine, temps are well within normal range (68c load CPU 74c load GPU). Besides the crashes, I have not experienced any other sort of instability with this machine.
The issue is an annoying hard lockup-my games will completely lock up and go into an infinite sound loop. The only remedy is a hard reset-I can not access the task manager or any other Windows functions. This happens at seemingly random, whether it be 5 minutes into a match or 2 hours in. The crash is not being triggered by heat-my system stays very cool, even during gaming.
The crashes seem to happen in any 3D game (but not furmark, for some reason)-at first I thought it was an issue with Bad Company 2, but after having time to muck around, I've realized that it is happening in all my games (including Just Cause 2, Team Fortress 2, GTAIV, Trackmania, Battlefield 2, etc).
I can't think of any reason why this is happening-I have a relatively clean Windows installation (need to save space on SSD) and up to date drivers. The only program I run in the background is NOD32, which has not given me any issues in the past with my other machines (I have tried disabling NOD32, to no avail).
My best guess is that it is video driver related. I have tried the Catalyst 10.4 driver from HPs website, as well as the 10.x ALL 8.74 beta driver-the 8.74 driver unlocks more resolution options and fixes BC2 load times, but both drivers are susceptible to the crash.
I aquired this Laptop in...October 2009. I'm really happy with it, but I have a question.
It reaches high temperatures while gaming, about 90º-95º and it's keeps around 70º in idle.
I haven't noticed any problem with performance or anything, only the fan kicks really high as soon as I start a game.
Is it normal? I always heard that AMD Cpu's are hotter than Intel.
I've been looking at the Mini 311 on Amazon, which is selling for $399. I'm going to send my (slow!) dv2 to my daughter for a spare laptop as soon as the Windows 7 upgrade arrives (which won't be real soon from what I'm reading!! ) Amazon says their Mini 311 has the Ion LE graphics. On the HP website though, they are selling the same system for the same price - but it doesn't have the "LE" qualifier listed. Do the newer direct-from-HP editions have the "full" Ion - or is this just an oversight by HP on their website?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know that this has the new ION chip, but how far will that go? Like what kind of games will that let you play. I know that this is far from a gaming machine but do you think it would be able to play like d2 and tf2 on low setting pretty well?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to get the HP Mini 110, but am curious as to how long the battery actually lasts, and if anyone has the 6-cell battery, how long does that last as well?
I've looked at a few netbooks already, including dell/toshiba/asus/acer, but I've fallen in love with the HP keyboard and want to go that route.
Also, i know the N270 and N280 processors are 'almost' identical, does the battery life differ on either?
I've been thinking about getting a netbook for a long time now, ever since the firsts Asus EEE was released. I was so sure to get the Sony Vaio P but now after seeing how sleek this machine is (and cheap!) I just can't get it off my mind. @_@
Here's an unboxing vid I found - [url]
The 5101 seems to have just about everything I was looking for in a netbook. It is currently available for $399. Is that a good price or are there discounts (student, etc) that would drop the price even further?
Also, is there any reason to wait? Some new hardware about to be released? Or is Windows 7 going to be worth the wait for a netbook?
I am ready to buy the HP Mini 2140 (maybe the 6 cell too). Where can I buy this right now in Vancouver, Canada? I can't seem to find any major retail stores with these in stock.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a student looking to buy a new laptop. I've done some research and stumbled on to the hp mini 311. Ive come here to ask whether you guys know how it preforms. I was wondering if anyone that has it can tell me how it handles some of these tasks that i will be using it for:
dfgdsgdsgdfsg
Write some code/and compile
take notes
surf the internet(flash)
watch some movies(i hear it can do hd movies)
How it handles win7 home premium?
Does this OS run like windows? can i pop in lets say world of warcraft and install and play it normally? will it run blizzards background loader? i just want to know if this OS will run like a normal OS.
Or is the Mi OS ment for people who really just want a netbook for internet and small media and nothen more because the OS wont let them do anything else other than what HP gives them?
I'm thinking about getting an HP Mini 311 from the HP website. I plan on getting it with the N280 CPU, Ion graphics and Windows XP (I need XP for some hardware I want to use that doesn't have W7 drivers). The problem is that the HP site won't let me order it with 2 or 3 GB of RAM unless I order it with Windows 7. Is the Mini 311 limited to 1 GB of RAM under XP or can I upgrade this on my own later? I thought XP could address up to 4 GB of RAM?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHp has pulled the cloth off their new HP netbook, the HP mini 2100. Now from what I've read most if not all the specs are same to the mini 1000. Only thing i can see that is diffrent between the two is it's not all black, the keyboard might not be a copy of the famous 1000 keyboard and the 2100 is offering the holy 6 cell battery! which is said to give 7 hours of net time! thats alotta . i mean office work *cough*.
I'll post the artical in a few mins, if this was posted sorry i didnt bump it.
question. is the keyboard on the HP 2000 same as the keyboard on the mini 1000?
Today my HP Mini 1035NR netbook arrived, and I was extremely happy to get my hands on a new toy. Upon opening it up and starting it up I liked how bright the screen is. It's small and light, and looks very cool.
The keyboard is spacious, and I needed only a few minutes to get used to typing fast on it. I do need more time though to become proficient in using the lesser keys, including the Home and End keys, and the function keys which are smaller.
The wireless works very nicely, picking up my home network easily. It's speedy, and downloads stuff very quickly.
The trackpad and its buttons are very responsive. The two mouse buttons being on the side are not a problem for me.
i have a HP DV5T which is awesome. plays all my games, and is quite possibly the perfect laptop. but, has anyone seen how cool the mini note is? dear god, my only problem is justifying the price, and if i need it. i go to college and live in a dorm. would buying the mini note completely destroy the reason i have a $1500 laptop in the first place?
i do work at best buy, and theirs is $399 and it's got 16GB SSD, 2gb HP flash module.
1.) it says it has a "bluetooth bus enumerator"? is that a bluetooth module or no? i do ask because it plays a small factor in the purchase.
2.) secondly, does anyone know if the mini note at Best Buy has that cool HP software on it? our display doesnt, so i do wonder.
[at HP.com in the APP store i can get the same one (16gb SSD, and bluetooth for sure) for $437. i might go there?]
Any one know what type of mini connector this is? MMCX? MCX? MMC?
It is for the internal tuner on my HP dv8t. HP customer support can't help me and the tuner manufactuer, AverMedia can't help me either.

I have a HP Mini 1030NR which I got as a present, I already have my own MSI Wind u100 which I absolutely love.
Anyways, the HP has a 16GB SSD and I wanted to know if I could swap that with a 60GB 2.5" HDD I have laying around?
would this be a direct swap? how do I go about cloning the SSD first and then restoring that onto the HDD?
I also have a 2.5" HDD enclosure I could use for the cloning...
HP is about to release their new netbook which is successor of HP Mini 2133. It's called HP Mini 2140. On their website it say it will be available later this month. There is more info on their website: [url]
