I've got a tc4200. 1.7mhz, 1gb ram. I bought it used, seems to be pretty solid save the fact that no matter what I do I cant seem to get the processor to budge from 789mhz. Power schemes make no difference.
View 5 RepliesI've recently bought myself a new HP tc4200 Tablet PC which doesn't come with an operating system. I'd like to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition on it but unfortunately the tablet didn't come with any discs. I have a working Windows XP Pro Volume License disc and serial number but I've read that you need a specific Tablet PC disc which you have to purchase as an OEM version. I've heard that you can change the PID in the setupp.ini to make the Windows setup think it's a Tablet PC disc but accept a VLK -has anyone done this and confirmed that it works?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my brand new dv7 out of the box, booted her up, went through the setup and did first reboot... on boot it just sits at a black screen beeping?!? If I go into bios first and then exit and cont booting it goes to windows, but then it acts as if its got a stuck key? at the password prompt the whole form box is full of characters already... so i disabled the password prompt so it would go straight to windows, reboot, into bios, back out, past password prompt, into windows and it then makes the 'ding' noise of a incorrectly pressed key, does this for about 30 secs then stops.
I was convinced to go HP even tho my gut was telling me different!
My hp.com customized dv4t arrived this morning and I have already managed to create a problem. I attempted to stick the media center remote into the eSata(or w.e) slot and I managed to push it in all the way, but now it is stuck. This isn't a problem as I probably will never use the remote, but it will be a pet peeve for a long time. Is there anyway to remove it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy battery will not charge even though I just got it about 2-3 months ago from HP while my laptop was still under warranty. When I hover over the battery status it tells me 0% available (plugged in, charging) but no matter what I do it won't charge. I've tried charging this battery on my other dv5t with a different AC adapter, but the same thing is happening. Are there any tricks or anything that I can do? This is a new battery and for it to die after 2-3 months just doesn't make sense. HP battery check tells me the battery health is Good.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI think the SD card eject spring in my envy 15 has failed-- the stupid card won't pop out, can't be pushed in at all, and doesn't stick out enough to grab with anything. What the heck do you do if this happens? Is there a place to stick a paper clip to manually eject it like old CD-ROM drives? Am I completely hosed and in need of warranty service just to get a memory card out?

I own a Hp dv5t and recently the speakers on the laptop stoped working. the only way i can get sound is by plugging in headphones. It seems the computer is stuck in headphone mode. I've been searching for an answer the past few days but couldn't find a solution.

I had to do a clean install of Windows Vista Home 32 bit. I installed service pack sp42635 for the nvidia driver. The highest resolution I can get is 1024 X 768. it was higher before the operating system re-install. I have uninstalled the Nvidia drivers back to the generic VGA drivers and then reinstalled the Nvidia drivers. Still max resolution is 1024 x 768 under display settings.
What am I missing to get the resolution to 1440 x 990?
when i turn on hp dv5t laptop, it stays stuck on "hp invent" splash screen.
pressing esc or any f-keys does nothing. it just stays on the splash screen.
it is still under warranty but i want to recover my data myself (i don't trust HP repair person will do it for me).
Well after succesfull XP installation (knock, knock) installed all the drivers except wifi ( cause it show when i turn it on but doesnt give me the options like in Vista ) and Memory Card Reader....

I have clean installed Windows 7, undervolted, optimized everything, and discovered just recently a stuck pixel near the top edge of my screen.
Bought a 13" MBP two weeks ago and I love it. I noticed a stuck red pixel, and tried a few methods to fix it. The flashing colours method didn't work, but then I tapped with a pencil and it disappeared for a couple of hours and came back. Then I massaged it and it's been gone for a few days. has anyone been successful in permanently getting rid of a stuck pixel? Do the stuck pixels usually come back, and if so, about how long does it last?

The computer didn't pick it up.

So speedtstep is enabled in bios and it says its running at the minimum which is 800 mhz and it shows a maximum of 1.8 ghz. I am running A05 bios.
I have tried all the different power settings in windows and they do not change it. I try running a few games and programs and it still sits at 800 mhz. I think something is messed up and don't know how to fix it.
Anyone know what I can do to see if the speedstep is working correctly so Im actually using my cpu to its max when needed.
I am running the E6400 on Vista Ultimate x64 with the 7.102.101.216 trackpad drivers.
Every so often (probably once week) the trackpad will stop functioning: the buttons keep working but the pointer does not move. At that point the only thing I can do is to shut down and reboot. There doesn't seem anything systematic about what I am doing before to trigger this.
I normally have the pointing stick switched off, I've turned it back on to see how that interacts

The operating system went into hibernation when the battery died and would not come out when plugged in again(blank screen after acer splash screen, but i am able to load bios) when booting to the vista cd, all i get is a black screen. i tried a win xp disc and was able to boot to this. I put the hard drive in my desktop computer and when i tried to boot to it i got the error message that the computer was in hibernation and unable to come out of this mode. I then formatted the partition and was still unable to boot to the vista cd so i installed xp, however... after the splash screen and the windows loading screen, i again get a black screen. i've tried removing the battery and unplugging it for a while but nothing seems to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get Vista Business x64 to recognize the graphics driver. Both Catalyst and XtremeG install fine,
but when I reboot the highest resolution I have is 1400x1050 and Windows only displays 'Standard VGA graphics adapter' in device manager.
Is this a common problem or do I need to do something else? I know the XPS m1330 had a quirk where you needed to install the SATA driver before installing windows which had me baffled for hours...
