View 5 RepliesI've recently purchases a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked just fine untill earlyer today. While i was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem. It only registeres right click where ever i click.I've deleted the drivers, even tho they were the knewest ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed it after the reset and what not and it still has the same problem.
If i turn off the touchpad in the ultranav software and enable only trackapad, the buttons work like they should, the large area in the touchpad registeres as the left click and the small area in the top right is registered as the right click. Tho i can't use the touchpad for navigation. So clicking doesn't works, well neither does tapping. I can doubletap normaly, but i cannot tap and drag such as selecting a block of text.
Again, i've already tried a fresh install of ultranav drivers and it didn't work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing was installed nor changed hardware vise. It litteraly changed in a second.how to solve it since the driver reinstall didn't work.
How do I go about getting a new touchpad from Dell on an in-warranty laptop? My left-click button incessantly sticks. It is not a software issue, and I am well within my warranty. I have already done the software trouble-shooting. It is a hardware issue and I'm relatively certain I need a new touchpad.

I have a problem with double clicking. (assume that all clicking is the left click) It is most apparent on the internet, when I hit the back button once, I go back two pages. Its annoying, but now i'm having trouble highlighting, and other important tasks. I do know about keyboard alternatives, but the mouse is just more convenient.
This problem started soon after my laptop survived having orange juice spilled onto it.
I have done my own research, and most forums state a software problem, but I am sure that I have a mechanical problem. I noticed that there is an "upstroke" and a "downstroke" to my click. When I click, that is the downstroke, the mouse performs as it's supposed to; but when I lift my finger, there is a second click that I did not intend, the upstroke. I've tested this on button clicking games on my laptop, and on other computers.
My left click button is only working intermittently,
View 7 Replies View Relatedi've noticed now, and it's annoying that sometimes when i touch the trackpoint or touchpad LIGHTLY, like just right before.
i use it, it'll register it as a left click and i'll end up dragging things around instead of moving the cursor..
so now i try to plan and leave the cursor at an area of the screen/desktop where it won't select anything.. .
happens maybe 5% of the time, but since i use those pointing devices so much it's annoying. doesn't happen when i have a mouse though btw..
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. How to reactivate the touchpad left and right-click buttons.

The left mouse button on my laptop (model 15-d037dx) doesn't click when I press it. The laptop is almost brand new, can I get a replacement button?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe left click on my 3690 has quit working, and when I use the touch pad to control the cursor,it drags a blue box around.I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling but I get the same problem.I also tried to update the drivers with no luck.I think it's a hardware problem.Any other suggestions?I wouldn't worry about it,but I use it to run my GPS,and I can't use a mouse in my vehicle.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am encountering serious problems with my Thinkpad Edge E520.
The left-mouse-click function of my UltraNav and Touchpad are not working anymore. The buttons are clicking normally, but do not have any functionality.
I am using a dual boot system with Win7 Home Premium SP1 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS... I did several checks:
Touchpad navigation and right-click button working properly
Touchpad left-click-button clicking properly, but no functionality
Touchpad click functionality not working
UltraNav Trackpoint and rickt-click-button working properly
UltraNav left-click-button clicking properly, but no functionality
Switching to Left-handed setup results in a properly working right-click-button with left-click function for Touchpad and UltraNav
External USB mouse working properly with Win7
External USB mouse not working properly with Ubuntu (no left-click functionality)
Fresh format and reinstall of dual boot system - problems remaining ... Since the behavious is the same with Win7 and Ubuntu and also remains after a fresh installation of both OS, I assume it is a hardware defect!?
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.
I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.
To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). This generally resolves the issue for a while.
I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
The left mouse button on my m1530 has taken a battering. It has gone all lop-sided, crunches every time I press it, and now doesn't work at all unless I press down on it very very hard with two fingers.
I work fast, so this is an incredibly frustrating thing to happen, as everything now takes ten times longer to do.
I've had my M1530 for about 5 months and in the last few days and have had a problem with the screen.
Twice in the last 3-4 days I have come home from work to find the left hand side of the screen substantially dimme(darker.
The screen was left on regular settings, no screen saver etc. Within 5 minutes of use the left hand side of the screen had returned to normal brightness..
I have a collapsed left mouse button on my m1530 touchpad. The button still works but does not return to its original position so it is most likely the return spring (or whatever it is) that is broken.
The laptop is out of warranty so I'm looking for a way to fix this myself. I've tried searching for this part but with no success,
and I can't find any pictures of this part to tell whether I can use some other substitute.
i just discovered this recently after running left 4 dead on my computer. every 5-10 min when playing the game, everything would slow down and become a slide show for about 10-20 seconds before returning back to normal. i assume this is because of my GPU/CPU becoming too hot and they were downclocked to prevent damage to the motherboard.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS M1530 that has seen very little use but unfortunately won't boot now. It is stuck on the bios screen that displays the dell logo - the progress bar on this page only displays about 15% complete and will not progress any further under any circumstances. I have performed the diagnostic boot option of holding down the <FN> key before power on and this displays just the caps lock flashing rapidly - the flashing does not halt. The other diagnostic lights (scroll and num lock) remain unlit except at the initial boot they flash once as per normal.
As dell has not published the diagnostic codes. The laptop is "as new" if a few years old now and I would like to keep it for sometime to come - the purchase price at the time was ~£1300. One reason I bought dell was for the after sales care - I understand there have been various issues with this particular series of laptop which is unfortunate but I am hopeful to get it working again at reasonable cost.
Why does my Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop mouse double click when I only click once?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMost keyboards have a handy key that performs the logical equivalent of a mouse right-click on whichever screen item currently has focus (no mouse involved). The right-click usually brings up a context menu, of course.
My Dell XPS 12 has no right-click key on its keyboard; not even with the 'Fn' function key.
I'm looking at purchasing an Inspiron Studio 1555 laptop for a friend through the dell outlet store in the UK.
However all the processors show up as 'Click System ID - 0'

Dumb as it sounds, can anyone confirm for me that the refurbished models do in fact come with a processor and what spec it is?
I emailed Dell a week ago and still have had no response, which I suspect is par for the course.
I've noticed that when I shut down the computer, just before everything turns off I hear a loud(ish) click from the back of the computer. Same sort of noise as when you turn on a light switch, maybe a little sharper.
At first I thought it might be the speakers, but not so sure. Anyone else have this? It might just be hardware turning off
The left speaker on my Dell XPS M1330 went silent some time ago for all sound sources (Window Media, iTunes, QuickTime) without so much as a crackle.
I suspect that either the speaker itself died or the connecting wire has been dislodged. Do these suspicions seem plausible? Are there other causes I need to consider?
I want to check the connecting left speaker wire and re-attach it, if applicable. Can someone provide me a URL to diagrams that illustrate the speaker wires and their attachments clearly? I tried a Google search without success.
Does anyone or have anyone had their left side speaker replaced with DYI. I need a new left side speaker cause mines blew up.
If I were to call dell and order a new one, is it going to be hard to replace or can someone share some pictures with instructions! By the way would the speaker need to include the LED lightings too?
I've started feeling a slight tingling sensation when resting my palm on the notebook, to the left of the touch pad. It is subtle, not painful, but noticeable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any Studio XPS 1640 users out there who gets perfectly balanced sounds from their left and right speakers?
My right speaker's volume is louder by default. Yes, I can adjust the balance using one of Windows' sound configuration screen, but it's annoying to have it reconfigured back whenever I plug a headphones.
Whenever I'm viewing the smallest things, like images or even streaming on youtube. The far left fan goes into gear -- but it sounds like it's hitting a wire, making a loud and obnoxious grinding sound.
And recently my computer would go at 100% CPU Usage, requiring me to restart a couple of times until it became neutral.
Any ideas other than opening the computer?
I'm using an Inspiron 1520. It's 2 years old.
