The left click on my 3690 has quit working,and when I use the touch pad to control the cursor,it drags a blue box around.I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling but I get the same problem.I also tried to update the drivers with no luck.I think it's a hardware problem.Any other suggestions?I wouldn't worry about it,but I use it to run my GPS,and I can't use a mouse in my vehicle.
View 4 RepliesI recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.
I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.
To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). This generally resolves the issue for a while.
I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
I've recently purchases a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540 and it worked just fine untill earlyer today.While i was browsing the internet, some how my touchpad developed a problem.It only registeres right click where ever i click.I've deleted the drivers, even tho they were the knewest ones, downloaded a fresh .exe and installed it after the reset and what not and it still has the same problem.
If i turn off the touchpad in the ultranav software and enable only trackapad, the buttons work like they should, the large area in the touchpad registeres as the left click and the small area in the top right is registered as the right click. Tho i can't use the touchpad for navigation.So clicking doesn't works, well neither does tapping. I can doubletap normaly, but i cannot tap and drag such as selecting a block of text.
Again, i've already tried a fresh install of ultranav drivers and it didn't work. The problem manifested itself during normal browsing, nothing was installed nor changed hardware vise. It litteraly changed in a second.how to solve it since the driver reinstall didn't work.
first my left click is stuck and is sunk in below my touch pad Im not sure how to fix this and another problem is my battery doesnt charge at all should i try to get a new battery?.....

I have a problem with double clicking. (assume that all clicking is the left click) It is most apparent on the internet, when I hit the back button once, I go back two pages. Its annoying, but now i'm having trouble highlighting, and other important tasks. I do know about keyboard alternatives, but the mouse is just more convenient.
This problem started soon after my laptop survived having orange juice spilled onto it.
I have done my own research, and most forums state a software problem, but I am sure that I have a mechanical problem. I noticed that there is an "upstroke" and a "downstroke" to my click. When I click, that is the downstroke, the mouse performs as it's supposed to; but when I lift my finger, there is a second click that I did not intend, the upstroke. I've tested this on button clicking games on my laptop, and on other computers.
The left mouse button on my laptop (model 15-d037dx) doesn't click when I press it. The laptop is almost brand new, can I get a replacement button?

i use it, it'll register it as a left click and i'll end up dragging things around instead of moving the cursor..
so now i try to plan and leave the cursor at an area of the screen/desktop where it won't select anything.. .
happens maybe 5% of the time, but since i use those pointing devices so much it's annoying. doesn't happen when i have a mouse though btw..
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. The left-mouse-click function of my UltraNav and Touchpad are not working anymore. The buttons are clicking normally, but do not have any functionality.
I am using a dual boot system with Win7 Home Premium SP1 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS... I did several checks:
Touchpad navigation and right-click button working properly
Touchpad left-click-button clicking properly, but no functionality
Touchpad click functionality not working
UltraNav Trackpoint and rickt-click-button working properly

dell 5547/win 8.1 touchpad left click not responding correctly randomly, not all times, left click not work and both clicks respond as right click sometimes once or twice a week….or two or three times a day.
latest driver updated and also driver uninstall and re-install OS format and reinstall but problem still there.
As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. It comes and goes. I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6.
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.
I've started feeling a slight tingling sensation when resting my palm on the notebook, to the left of the touch pad. It is subtle, not painful, but noticeable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dell Studio 1558 laptop. I'm extremely careful not to have liquids anywhere near my keyboard. However I was drinking tea and felt I was far enough back that liquids should not even reach the laptop. I was probably about a foot back. Well one of my cats nudged my arm and hit it with enough force that a few drops hit the touch pad. I cleaned it up. This morning I turn my laptop on and now my left touch pad button does not work. I figured that I probably needed to clean it. So I pried the button off gently. And used a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaned it off. When I pried it up it didn't look really dirty at all. There was no residue on the inside that I could see. I put the button back on, and it still doesn't work. So now I'm wondering if enough got inside to actually cause damage or if it's just coincidental that the button stopped working at the same time? I used it all the time for copying stuff and scrolling. I can use all the other buttons and scroll without using it.
Should the cleaning underneath have cured it if it was the liquid? If the liquid got past the underneath of the key itself then it should have affected the whole key pad not just one key, right?
1) What is the battery life you get on Windows 7 compared to OS X?
2) Does the right click (bottom right area) work in Windows 7? What about the double touch right click?
Before the end of 2013 I bought an Ideapad U530 Touch for school and it's been working fine up until a few days ago when the backlight for the left most CTRL key stopped working and shut off completely. Every other key on the board is fine, except for this one. Is there any easy to fix to this problem, or do I need to send the entire computer back?

I live in Spain, so finding a repair facility is difficult (believe it or not).
I would like to replace the keycap - but I can't discover what key type it is (I was going to try to get a replacement from a seller on eBay in Canada). The seller lists key type A-11, A-12, A-18, A-37 . To purchase, I need to specify which type.

A friend has a 3690. Haven't seen it, but this is what they describe as happening.
Sometimes! on startup four? beeps are heard and nothing appears on screen. Turn off/on again and it will most likely boot into Windows BUT the clock is wrong, reverts to July 2005 I think. Reset the clock and all OK, until the next time it happens.
Somedays it behaves, other times not so, maybe doing this twice in a day.
As the clock is wrong does this perhaps point to the CMOS backup battery?
Any other checks we can do?
Would entering the BIOS at start up ? "F2" prove anything. I know it's difficult when its not in front of you.
I have a aspire 3690 running vista. The left side of the keyboard types fine. The right side some keys don't work other type multiple letters and preforms different action. I replaced the keyboard twice thinking i bought a faulty one but still have the same problem. If i use a external USB or the onscreen keyboard it works fine. I also flashed the bio and still no change.

It is a Intel Core Duo T2300 @ 1.66 Ghz. Now I have been wanting to know if the SOCKET is correct. Now according to NewEgg, it says it is a Socket M. Now according to utilities I have been running it says mine is a Socket 479.
So I looked that up and it turns out is it is basically a 478 (478 Pins) but they just said 479 for differentiating. And I have heard that Socket M and 479 are NOT the same and i have heard that they are, because sites such as NewEgg dont have Socket 479 processors cause they are actually Socket 478 Processors.
So anyways, i wanted to look up the package type to help me identify. My Package is a Micro-FCPGA. Now the one I want to get is a Micro-FCPGA as well. Now NewEgg doesn't tell you this.

They called there Socket a: Socket 479 Pin.

I'm working on my friends laptop (model mentioned above). He does not have the eRecovery CD so I'm unable to restore the machine back to factory. I tried loading XP Pro (Volume License) before and after disabling D2D in the BIOS and wiping the HDD.
Once the installation begins, the machine begins to install the necessary files normally, I reach the "Starting Windows" prompt then the machine crashes to the following error(s):

i have a acer aspire 5532 laptop. well, the usb ports(both) quit working. i tried everything from doing my laptop back to factory settings, tried un-checking turn off to save power. everything i could find, i tried. im wondering is there something i can use to get some usb ports? like in the front is a multi-in-1 card reader. is there like some adapter i can plug in there, and it have like usb ports? is there anything i can do or buy? with out taking it back. i have 3 items that use usb that i no longer can use
View 7 Replies View RelatedBought an Acer E 15 ES1-512-c88m first of December. Barely got 12-20 hours of use out of it. Worked fine for 3 weeks and then all of the sudden last night I opened the lid after sitting idle plugged in for 20 hours and immediately the touchpad began acting like I was trying to highlight, drag, or draw boxes around things continuously - when all I was trying to do was move he cursor. At first I assumed it was cold or confused. Shutdowns, restarts, HID driver reinstalls did nothing. After a hour or two of troubleshooting the touchpad performance worsened, to where at this point NO clicks of taps of any kind will work, so I can't pick or select anything - and am forced to navigate menus and options by keyboard - many of which I can't get to.
Final result: all I can do now with the touchpad is move the cursor around, but nothing else. The clicker is mechanically free and never stuck.I'm disappointed because my older Acer 10" D255 from 2011 has never had any issues.Sadly the only impression I'm getting is that the circuitry for the "click" function either shorted or has somehow gone "out of spec" or "out of cal". There is no way to even find out what kind of touchpad it is, because it's not listed on any data sheets.I'm guessing the best thing to do is get it replaced free of charge because it is practically new, but I wondered if there may be any other solutions with less hassle. Who would do this - Acer or NewEgg (where I got it from)?
I just got my new carbon touch thinkpad today, and I couldn't be happier, until I closed the lid and reopened it a couple of minutes later. The screen froze for a while and then I got a BSOD with the notice CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. I hoped it would be just some coincidence, and updating my drivers and installing windows updates would solve it. So I did, and closed the lid again. After reopening it, I got the same error. So I figured I could just as well restore to my factory settings. Without luck. After updating everything for a second time, still no luck. I check the disk and did a memory check, but everything seems fine. The lenovo Solution center isn't reporting any issues either. I looked into the minidump created by the blue screen, and it seemed the process failing is called csrss.exe.

I got DDR2 533 SO-DIMM, 200-pin memory for it 1 gig but can't for the life of me determine where the memory chip is located
I have looked in two areas on the back of the notebook and can't find it. I looked under Hardrive. and then there is another small panel with one screw but when I opened that there was just this chrome box in there.
Question 2 once I find it can I use both the 512 and 1gig together or only the one 1 gig chip?
I tried locating a tech manual on this notebook and none of the links showed manuals for this model.
My PC allows me to save and burn files onto CD-Rs- but everytime I insert a DVD-R to do the same, a message pops up saying "please insert a writeable disc."
I've tried formatting the DVD-Rs, but the same message appears, or says "no disc detected, please insert a writeable disc."
Do I need to use DVD+Rs or buy a DVD driver?
