I've had my M1530 for about 5 months and in the last few days and have had a problem with the screen.
Twice in the last 3-4 days I have come home from work to find the left hand side of the screen substantially dimme(darker.
The screen was left on regular settings, no screen saver etc. Within 5 minutes of use the left hand side of the screen had returned to normal brightness..
What can I do about this problem? Is there a fix for it or must I purchase a new screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe MBP I bought in Aug '07 2.4 GHz model seems to be having some screen issues... in particular ... pixel issues on the far left side of my screen... I'm attaching a pdf shot of the areas in question that i took with my camera ... there are quite a few patches of pixels that are remaining a shade of white and are not responding to any colour change in desktop wallpaper/ movies/ anything...
I'm terribly dissappointed with this... i've taken pains to ensure that the MBP is always padded when i take it out (and i can count the number of times i've taken it outside home with fingers on one hand) .... so... i'm sure i haven't bumped it anywhere...
I have the apple protection plan...
any advice on what my options might be at this point? would apple look into screen replacement options? I'm in India and there aren't any official apple stores out here either:| (the closest thing out here to an apple store is a premium reseller) ...
on a totally separate note .. my battery seems to be performing excruciatingly badly as well.. health is at 84% after 64 cycles ... and that's after i've done the battery calibration tests ......
The McAfee expired and each time it opens a new windows I get an error message and am asked to buy again. Started to freeze the screen and I'd have to shut down the unit and start again if I had more than 3 open windows.There was a system restore logo on the left side of the screen - so I thought maybe that would work - wrong thing to do!
Now it starts, and then the windows colored balls appear and turn into the logo - then nothing but blue gray screen. Tried doing F-8 system restore to factory settings, the last option, as recommended by MicroWarehouse where machine was purchased for Army son-in-law in 2011 - would not run completely. the instruction at 0x0411c2e3 referenced memory at 0x0db81030. The memory could not be written. went back to that F8 screen automatically so I tried it again - same message ar 0x44cc2r3 and back to the screen
since it said memory, I clicked on restore memory - which may have been wrong as it said I had videos, and I did not, and it said I had pictures, which I would only have had in e-mail. but I clicked to do it. Took several hours to run. and still screen is blue/gray. Now it won't even F8. Thinking my son-in-law may have disturbed something when he re-set it for me (took all their info off prior to military deployment - and when I tried to restore that may have conflicted with what he did. (We got him btter unit, I got old one)
My 1530 has recently been overheating when left idle for a while(30 min or so). When I come back I find that the fans stop working, the system overheats and the laptop restarts with blazing temperatures.
In order to turn the fans back on, I have to shutdown the laptop and then switch it back on
This sticker (the one saying "regulatory information...." in 50 languages)
would NOT come off by trying to pick at the corners. It was leaving the sticky part on.
When I pulled at the "tab" built into the sticker, I got that off but it left the whole rectangle sticky part on the laptop. In other words, the whole printed part of the sticker came off leaving all the clear sticky material on the palm rest still.
I kept picking at the corners trying to grab them but no luck.
What finally worked was sliding my fingers while pushing on the surface of the palmrest, upward, into the bottom of the sticker. In other words, press your finger on the plastic of the laptop just below the sticky stuff left behind. Keep sliding your finger while pushing on the plastic INTO the bottom line of the sticky part. It will eventually start to roll up. Do this all along the bottom edge of the sticky part and eventually you can grab the "rolled up edge" and pull at it. It should then pull off in one piece. There will be little tiny sticky marks left on the plastic but they come right up when you place the sticky rectangle piece down onto it and pull fast up.
I have tried many settings on the computer, as well as cleaning out all my nvidia drivers and installing them back. There seems to be no solution. How do I fix this?

220 GB Hard Drive
I leave my computer on during the day, and leave it occasionally for short periods of time..Lately, when I come back to it, the screen will be black..It is black because the computer turns itself off, for no reason that I can find out. When I turn it back on I get a caption that says the "user (name)has been locked out." Below that is a caption that I can click on that reads "switch user." If I click that caption, it says "user logged on." Which is the user that was just locked out! I click on that and my desktop comes up like nothing happened....
So far, to try and correct it, I have flashed the BIOS, because it needed updating. I thought this might work, but it has not corrected the problem. I have also done all of the standard things like defrag., cutting down on desktop icons, fewer starting programs, etc.
The left side usb port appears to have fallen into the laptop case. It is rattling around, visible and does not appear to be connected to anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a one year old sz680 CTO with a bluetooth vaio mouse VGP-BMS33. The strange thing is that the mouse only works well when I position it to the left of the vaio.
When I have it between me and the laptop, the mouse pointer moves in shocks, and on the right it doesn't work at all. (As a test, I also tried it behind the laptop and there it also in shocks).
I have tried to move the laptop to a different location, away from external power. I have turned of wlan & wwan. I have used different batteries, both common and rechargables.
The 2 USB port on the left hand side of my HP pavilion g6 not working after i formatted my system, it does not detect any devices plugged in these two ports, the operating system before was window 7 home premium but now it having window 7 professional, what can i do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought an HP touchsmart pavilion N229tx last week and I noticed now that it started creating grinding noises every 3 seconds whenever my laptop is on and running. The noise is coming from near the vent where the air is supposed to come out.
Also when I bought the laptop and opened it the first time I keep having the fan error upon startup saying that it had found that a fan is not operational I think it is error 90B. this now happens everytime I turn on the laptop.
I've been listening to a bunch of podcasts on my laptop lately and realized that the right hand side speaker is MUCH louder than my than the left speaker, in fact if I lower the balance on the right speaker to 0% and left to 100% it's not half as loud as the right at 100%. Is this normal? If not is there a fix for this?
Also when typing, if I press the Caps lock key too fast the cursor disappears and my typing is interrupted anyone know is up with that?
Does anyone's screen dim itself every now and then? I don't know if it's a defect in the screen or maybe a bug in Quickset or something else, but occasionally my screen just dims a few levels.
Quickset shows it still maxed out and lowering it a notch and raising it back up using the keyboard shortcuts makes it go back to normal.
I've had my MBP for about 4 month now and have been having problems with its keyboard since I bought it. First, the "Z" key sank in (I think there was a problem with the spring). I took it to the Apple Store, and they "fixed" on the spot (it's much harder to press and only registered a key press 70% of the time). The lower right corner of the "E" has noticeably sunk in, and I need to resort to pressing the upper left corner. Also, the left side of the keyboard feels "mushy", not hugely so, but definitely noticeable after typing a few sentences. Can I request that Apple just replace the entire keyboard instead of just individual keys?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an XPS M1530 which just had its motherboard replaced. I've now noticed that the underside of the laptop directly under the touchpad gets very hot. Its far hotter than any other area of the laptop even on load!
Its a new mobo and not a refurb. After using for half an hour it becomes quite uncomfortable on my lap. I initially thought it might be the WLAN card but ive switched it off and used ethernet instead. The problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their systems?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got a HP DM3T and so far it is great, except for one thing. For some reason when on battery power the brightness seems to randomly darken (not turn off) and then it will lighten back up when I go to a different program or page. I am sure this is some sort of power saving feature but it is driving me crazy. Is there any way to disable this feature so when on battery the screen stays the same brightness? I apologize if this issue has been covered already, I must not be searching with the right terms. . .

In the last day or so I noticed that pressing the fn+Fx key combos to dim or brighten the screen are no longer working. Nor is the battery status key combo. Volume and mute seem fine. Wireless is fine. The "Info" and "Presentation" keys as well as the sleep combo all appear to be working as usual. But the 3 mentioned above have stopped working. Has anyone had this issue or have any idea what the problem might be?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust picked up this model from Best Buy yesterday. Like everyone else in the large thread I am having the yellow color issue as well. However, I have another issue that I can't seem to find any information on.
The brightness on my screen is constantly adjusting. It is most obvious when making the move from the desktop to Metro. After hitting the windows key, I can see the brightness increasing in stages (about 4 times) after flipping over to Metro.
I have disabled Auto-Brightness under the Change My PC Setting -> Power and Sleep menu. I have also disabled Enable Adpative Brightness under Windows Power Mangement but the issue still persists.
Is there any other location I might be missing a setting that can be affecting this ? Brightness is set to full and keeps dipping down.
I bought Sony FW490 with full hd screen (1920x1080) but after hearing so much about wonderful RGB LED display on Dell, I got one from Dell outlet and now I can compare them both side by side and send one back. To my surprise Sony's screen is a tad brighter,
white color is white and red is very accurate too, on Dell screen is dimmer (on full brightness) red is more brownish and white is yellow-greenish.
I was reading this forum for a few months and almost everybody says that RGB screen is very bright, that one can use it on half brightness, but that is not the case with my SXPS16.
first my left click is stuck and is sunk in below my touch pad Im not sure how to fix this and another problem is my battery doesnt charge at all should i try to get a new battery?.....
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought acer aspire 6920 with vista home premium (OEM) preinstalled 64bit version. I have made recovery dvd discs from erecovery option for factory defaults.
I have two questions:
1: will Acer provide recovery discs free of cost if requested.
2: Will I be able to install vista home premium 32bit version on D drive from a retail version I have, side by side with 64bit on C drive. Shall be thankful if someone can clarify with procedure for item 2 since I am not very familiar with notebooks working.
The left mouse button on my m1530 has taken a battering. It has gone all lop-sided, crunches every time I press it, and now doesn't work at all unless I press down on it very very hard with two fingers.
I work fast, so this is an incredibly frustrating thing to happen, as everything now takes ten times longer to do.
I have a collapsed left mouse button on my m1530 touchpad. The button still works but does not return to its original position so it is most likely the return spring (or whatever it is) that is broken.
The laptop is out of warranty so I'm looking for a way to fix this myself. I've tried searching for this part but with no success,
and I can't find any pictures of this part to tell whether I can use some other substitute.
i just discovered this recently after running left 4 dead on my computer. every 5-10 min when playing the game, everything would slow down and become a slide show for about 10-20 seconds before returning back to normal. i assume this is because of my GPU/CPU becoming too hot and they were downclocked to prevent damage to the motherboard.

The cable recently came out of the VGA port and when I plugged it back in there is now a black strip at each side of the screen and the image doesn’t go across the full width any more. In display settings I’ve got the monitor set at the highest resolution possible, 1440x900, but this makes no difference (I’m on Windows 7).

I have adjusted all Battery profiles (including the "on battery" setting) and the screen seems to adjust to lowest background light settings every time I close the lid to my laptop.
I have adjusted all known settings for this, and still no resolution to the problem! Every time I close the lid to my laptop, windows makes a dis-connect sound (notification), you know, the sound it makes when you dis-connect a thumb drive or other USB connection.
so iw as installing a couple of things and all of a sudden when my computer restarted my screen is dim. LIke when you take the charger off dim. I tested it with and without the charger and it's still the same thing. any clues?
