Dell :: M1530 Screen Left Side Dimming When Idle
Jan 21, 2009I've had my M1530 for about 5 months and in the last few days and have had a problem with the screen.
Twice in the last 3-4 days I have come home from work to find the left hand side of the screen substantially dimme(darker.
The screen was left on regular settings, no screen saver etc. Within 5 minutes of use the left hand side of the screen had returned to normal brightness..

May 5, 2014I have a HP 1000-1405TU Notebook PC. My Notebook Product ID is D9H61PA#UUF. I am using Windows 7, 64 bit version. I tried using the F2 and F3 keys to lower the brightness and I tried to adjust it from settings and control panal but the brightness doesn't adjust when I move it up or down. (Note. When I use Windows 8 on this PC then there is no problem like that).

I was wondering how is your Vostro 1400? are you happy with the brightness?
I'm not sure what make of a screen I have but I'd gladly buy a new one and replace this one if I knew other screen makes for this model are brighter.
Here's the comparison shot with 1400 vs Vostro 1300, brightness of both is set to max.

Mar 4, 2009I have a Dell Vostro 1500. While working on a Ispiron 1525 I noticed how much brighter the screen was than my Vostro.
I had the brightness turned up all the way on both notebooks. But the screen was noticeably brighter.
The Inspirons resolution was 1280x800 or something along that line.

Dell :: Dimming Screen On SXPS 1340
Jun 28, 2009Does anyone's screen dim itself every now and then? I don't know if it's a defect in the screen or maybe a bug in Quickset or something else, but occasionally my screen just dims a few levels.
Quickset shows it still maxed out and lowering it a notch and raising it back up using the keyboard shortcuts makes it go back to normal.

Nov 10, 2009I just got a HP DM3T and so far it is great, except for one thing. For some reason when on battery power the brightness seems to randomly darken (not turn off) and then it will lighten back up when I go to a different program or page. I am sure this is some sort of power saving feature but it is driving me crazy. Is there any way to disable this feature so when on battery the screen stays the same brightness? I apologize if this issue has been covered already, I must not be searching with the right terms. . .

Aug 15, 2009I have an HP Compaq 8510p, T7300, running Windows XP Pro. In the last day or so I noticed that pressing the fn+Fx key combos to dim or brighten the screen are no longer working. Nor is the battery status key combo. Volume and mute seem fine. Wireless is fine. The "Info" and "Presentation" keys as well as the sleep combo all appear to be working as usual. But the 3 mentioned above have stopped working. Has anyone had this issue or have any idea what the problem might be?

Dell Vostro 1000 :: Indicates Charging But It Actually Isn't?
Feb 6, 2013My Vostro 1000 has recently been failing to charge the battery. There's no adapter warning, no battery warning, nothing. It'll indicate that it's charging normally, so I will leave it overnight to charge only to find it deader than a doornail the following day. I typically shut it down when I'm not using it, so it's charging with the power off anyway.
The battery is a nine cell Rayovac COM 10025 and the chargers are both Dell PA-90s. I know one of the chargers has a break in the communication line, but I can still get it to charge the battery if I hold the wire just right as I put the plug into the computer. The other charger, which is my main one, seems to work OK.
When this happens, the laptop will not charge the battery at all until I pop the battery out and back in. The battery is only three months old, so I shouldn't be having trouble with it. The last battery, which had to be replaced under warranty, was the same model and had lost 2/3 of its capacity in less than a year.

Oct 23, 2013Just picked up this model from Best Buy yesterday. Like everyone else in the large thread I am having the yellow color issue as well. However, I have another issue that I can't seem to find any information on.
The brightness on my screen is constantly adjusting. It is most obvious when making the move from the desktop to Metro. After hitting the windows key, I can see the brightness increasing in stages (about 4 times) after flipping over to Metro.
I have disabled Auto-Brightness under the Change My PC Setting -> Power and Sleep menu. I have also disabled Enable Adpative Brightness under Windows Power Mangement but the issue still persists.
Is there any other location I might be missing a setting that can be affecting this ? Brightness is set to full and keeps dipping down.

Mar 9, 2013On my Dell Vostro 1000 which is equiped with a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H ATA DVD/CD writer, it appears I can't write to disk anymore. I can still read DVDs and CDs without errors. Just when I attempt to burn disks, the drive fails with unspecified errors. One thing I noticied is that when I recently used Roxio to burn an ISO image to a CD, the operation completed. But when I reinserted the disk nothing was found on it. It appeared to be blank when reading it from the Vostro laptop. So, I inserted the disk into another DVD/CD drive on another computer. The CD appeared blank but when I tried to write to it from the other computer the pre-write check reported that only 13MB of space was available. So something was on the disk but it ws not visible to either computer. Weird. I tried cleaning the optics but the write operation still failed. Should I consider the drive dead?

Aug 5, 2009I bought Sony FW490 with full hd screen (1920x1080) but after hearing so much about wonderful RGB LED display on Dell, I got one from Dell outlet and now I can compare them both side by side and send one back. To my surprise Sony's screen is a tad brighter,
white color is white and red is very accurate too, on Dell screen is dimmer (on full brightness) red is more brownish and white is yellow-greenish.
I was reading this forum for a few months and almost everybody says that RGB screen is very bright, that one can use it on half brightness, but that is not the case with my SXPS16.
Dell Vostro 1000 :: Windows 7 Not Detecting Battery Charge Properly?
Oct 19, 2010I have a question regarding my Dell Vostro 1000's battery.
To start off, I did the recharge and discharge method and after that, when I disconnected the AC-Power, it only shows the "Total Battery Charge 100%" but the primary, it doesn't say anything. Plus, when it was unplugged, it stays at 100%. Few minutes later, it will drop to 7% and the Battery LED will flash orange to tell me that the battery is low.
And my Battery health is good, but why is Windows 7 not detecting the battery charge properly??

Acer :: Can 32bit Vista Home Premium Be Installed Side By Side With 64bit
Dec 23, 2008I have recently bought acer aspire 6920 with vista home premium (OEM) preinstalled 64bit version. I have made recovery dvd discs from erecovery option for factory defaults.
I have two questions:
1: will Acer provide recovery discs free of cost if requested.
2: Will I be able to install vista home premium 32bit version on D drive from a retail version I have, side by side with 64bit on C drive. Shall be thankful if someone can clarify with procedure for item 2 since I am not very familiar with notebooks working.
Apple :: MBP : Screen - Pixel - On The Far Left Side Of My Screen
Jun 12, 2009The MBP I bought in Aug '07 2.4 GHz model seems to be having some screen issues... in particular ... pixel issues on the far left side of my screen... I'm attaching a pdf shot of the areas in question that i took with my camera ... there are quite a few patches of pixels that are remaining a shade of white and are not responding to any colour change in desktop wallpaper/ movies/ anything...
I'm terribly dissappointed with this... i've taken pains to ensure that the MBP is always padded when i take it out (and i can count the number of times i've taken it outside home with fingers on one hand) .... so... i'm sure i haven't bumped it anywhere...
I have the apple protection plan...
any advice on what my options might be at this point? would apple look into screen replacement options? I'm in India and there aren't any official apple stores out here either:| (the closest thing out here to an apple store is a premium reseller) ...
on a totally separate note .. my battery seems to be performing excruciatingly badly as well.. health is at 84% after 64 cycles ... and that's after i've done the battery calibration tests ......
