Mar 6, 2010I unplug my laptop and after 15 mins it says "your battery power is low (7%) if you don't plug in your computer soon it will hibernate automatically". I know its fully charged and i press the button on the battery and all lights are on..what should i do?

Dell Vostro 1000 :: Indicates Charging But It Actually Isn't?
Feb 6, 2013My Vostro 1000 has recently been failing to charge the battery. There's no adapter warning, no battery warning, nothing. It'll indicate that it's charging normally, so I will leave it overnight to charge only to find it deader than a doornail the following day. I typically shut it down when I'm not using it, so it's charging with the power off anyway.
The battery is a nine cell Rayovac COM 10025 and the chargers are both Dell PA-90s. I know one of the chargers has a break in the communication line, but I can still get it to charge the battery if I hold the wire just right as I put the plug into the computer. The other charger, which is my main one, seems to work OK.
When this happens, the laptop will not charge the battery at all until I pop the battery out and back in. The battery is only three months old, so I shouldn't be having trouble with it. The last battery, which had to be replaced under warranty, was the same model and had lost 2/3 of its capacity in less than a year.

Jan 31, 2010I have a Dell Vostro 1000 and my SD card slot will not work. My brother has the SAME exact one as I do and his works.
I tried my same card on his and it worked fine. We ordered the laptops together, added the same stuff just changed the quantity.

Mar 9, 2013On my Dell Vostro 1000 which is equiped with a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H ATA DVD/CD writer, it appears I can't write to disk anymore. I can still read DVDs and CDs without errors. Just when I attempt to burn disks, the drive fails with unspecified errors. One thing I noticied is that when I recently used Roxio to burn an ISO image to a CD, the operation completed. But when I reinserted the disk nothing was found on it. It appeared to be blank when reading it from the Vostro laptop. So, I inserted the disk into another DVD/CD drive on another computer. The CD appeared blank but when I tried to write to it from the other computer the pre-write check reported that only 13MB of space was available. So something was on the disk but it ws not visible to either computer. Weird. I tried cleaning the optics but the write operation still failed. Should I consider the drive dead?

Oct 19, 2010I have a question regarding my Dell Vostro 1000's battery.
To start off, I did the recharge and discharge method and after that, when I disconnected the AC-Power, it only shows the "Total Battery Charge 100%" but the primary, it doesn't say anything. Plus, when it was unplugged, it stays at 100%. Few minutes later, it will drop to 7% and the Battery LED will flash orange to tell me that the battery is low.
And my Battery health is good, but why is Windows 7 not detecting the battery charge properly??

How do I get the sound working and stay working as well as the videos becoming playable? so far the only option that has worked is shutting down the PC and tuning it back on, but the issues reoccurs within 10 minutes.

When I restart my computer, my sound works for an hour or two and then suddenly shuts off. It does this with or without headphones. It works again as soon as I restart the computer, but I'd really love not to have to restart my computer every hour just to get the sound to work.
Also- downloading Windows 8 isn't an option as a lot of my work is incompatible with windows 8.

Jul 25, 2014Had to format my hard disc and reinstall Windows XP, then upgraded to Win 7. Windows has generic VGA driver that's OK, but it can't run any copmplex videos that it used to be able to run. I know it's 5 years old, but everytime I download stuff for the "specs" listed on website, I can't get anywhere. I'm sure there have been more than one video card integrated into the board, but I don't know where else to turn!

Windows problem report suggested to update video drivers, so from nvidia website i found new drivers (version 185.85).
Everything updated well, but then I tried to connect to LCD TV through HDMI i run into the problem:
the was no sound. I've changed to HDMI output in control panel (usually that way sound was working) and still cannot hear anything. Strange that with old drivers i was able to configure HDMI sound, but with new drivers this function is disabled. Rolled back and sound started to work.
