View 1 RepliesI recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.
I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.
To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). This generally resolves the issue for a while.
I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.
HP Mini 110-3100. When power up, get the HP logo and then a blank screen with curser flashing upper left hand corner.
Ran diagnostics --- everything passed.
Cannot get into System Recovery
Cannot get into Safe Mode
I do get into the Setup Utility but nothing there that fixes the problem.
I do get into System information, but again, nothing there to fix this start up problem.
Estimates at local shops to fix start at minimum $110 - obviously could be higher
However, Amazon selling HP Mini 110-1030NR for $110
Questions:
1. How I can recover to operate the HP MIni 110-3100 I have?
2. What are the differences in 110-3100 versus the 110-1030NR
3. If I decide to buy the -1030NR instead of having the -3100 repaired, what I am giving up and ALSO, what does the NR stand for?
I just found that my E6530 keyboard bends a little in the left upper corner. When i push a little bit harder the A or S or D key, the keys around move a little bit.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have an inspiron 1420, and want to bring it around school, i usually use it as a desktop at home using an external monitor(FN + F8), for some reason my laptop only works when plugged with a monitor, the laptop monitor is blank but you can see light at least, but no images whatsoever. I got it to work after reformatting the second time but not the 3rd 4th or 5th time.
I've noticed something strange though when formatting with xp, the letters were both gray and red, and when it gets to the page with the estimation(usually about 30 minutes) the picture quality was crap like 4bit.
I've noticed that when i successfully got the laptop monitor working the picture quality ran at a full 32bit
I received my M6400 with 1920 x 1200 RGB LED Display, I just noticed that at the Left Bottom corner there is an Orange type color shadow, just on top of the Start buttom in the taskbar, is this normal ? do I have to ask Dell for a replacement ?, do I need to do any color adjustment configuration ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy 1420 is suffering from a bad screen problem. There is a horizontal split in my screen so it is showing double.
Also I cannot start up my laptop. It runs the Dell thing then some garbled letters/numbers are everywhere. This problem started when I took off my battery since my notebook was charging.
Afterwards my screen froze, I got the BSOD and when I rebooted I was stuck with this problem.
I've got an Inspiron 1420 running vista ultimate. I've had some bug issues in the past where I would set the screen brightness to 100% in both battery mode and plugged-in mode and it will still look dim but those issues always got resolved after a reboot.................................................
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a one year old sz680 CTO with a bluetooth vaio mouse VGP-BMS33. The strange thing is that the mouse only works well when I position it to the left of the vaio.
When I have it between me and the laptop, the mouse pointer moves in shocks, and on the right it doesn't work at all. (As a test, I also tried it behind the laptop and there it also in shocks).
I have tried to move the laptop to a different location, away from external power. I have turned of wlan & wwan. I have used different batteries, both common and rechargables.
The McAfee expired and each time it opens a new windows I get an error message and am asked to buy again. Started to freeze the screen and I'd have to shut down the unit and start again if I had more than 3 open windows. There was a system restore logo on the left side of the screen - so I thought maybe that would work - wrong thing to do!
Now it starts, and then the windows colored balls appear and turn into the logo - then nothing but blue gray screen. Tried doing F-8 system restore to factory settings, the last option, as recommended by MicroWarehouse where machine was purchased for Army son-in-law in 2011 - would not run completely. the instruction at 0x0411c2e3 referenced memory at 0x0db81030. The memory could not be written. went back to that F8 screen automatically so I tried it again - same message ar 0x44cc2r3 and back to the screen
since it said memory, I clicked on restore memory - which may have been wrong as it said I had videos, and I did not, and it said I had pictures, which I would only have had in e-mail. but I clicked to do it. Took several hours to run. and still screen is blue/gray. Now it won't even F8. Thinking my son-in-law may have disturbed something when he re-set it for me (took all their info off prior to military deployment - and when I tried to restore that may have conflicted with what he did. (We got him btter unit, I got old one)
Model number of the original 1366 x 768 screen for this laptop? My screen is dark in one corner and I need to know the model number in order to order the correct one to replace for this laptop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe screen does work in "safe mode", so the screen is functioning. It might be something with the graphics settings (I use a separate screen on this computer often). Step-by-step procedure to run in safe mode to check out the problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that lately I have been receiving notifications of certain events on the upper right of my screen. I just figured out that it's a thing called "Growl". I have no idea how it got on my system. Is it a third party program or was it installed in one of the OS X updates?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it normal for the Dell Inspiron 1420 to run hot?
This is my GF's notebook.
The specs are:
CPU- Intel Core 2 Duo 1.5GHz
RAM- 2GB
OS- Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
HDD- 160GB
It gets almost too hot to touch on the bottom.
Its pretty uncomfortable to use.
I've searched all over for an solution to this and can't seem to find any straight answers.
I'm trying to upgrade my Inspiron 1420 to wireless-n, but I'm running into some problems. I know that the recommended card is the Intel 4965agn, but that card only uses the 40Mhz band at the 5Ghz frequency (at 2.4Ghz, it only allows 20Mhz).
My router (Linksys WRT-160N) only uses the 2.4Ghz frequency, so if I use the 4965, I would only get 130mbps. I was led to believe that the Intel WiFi Link 5300 would work at both bands on 2.4Ghz, but I just installed it, and it doesn't seem to be compatible with my computer. I get a code 10 (unable to start) error.
So my question is this: Is there a wireless-n card that is compatible with the Inspiron 1420 and that will utilize the 40Mhz band at 2.4Ghz?.
I updated the bios on my 1420 from A09 to A10. I downloaded this from Dells support site. The utility runs from within windows and looked like it was working fine. It stated it would shutdown windows then reboot. Well it never rebooted. It is briecked. It gives me two LEDs onthe front and does nothing, no hard drive, no POST beeps.. nothing.
I called Dell and guess what, I'm 18 days past my warrenty. They are not much help.
I've searched for a way to revert back to the last bios but it seems laptop makers don't keep the old version on the chip like desktops do.
I've seen some people have had luch with a USB floopy drive but this is for Mini 9's. I've tried removing the battery and hlding the power button down for 20 secs but it does not start up (didn't think it would).
Does anyone know of anyway to restore the bios? I definately don't want to replace the motherboard.
I try to stay up-to-date with new models coming out, and have noticed that Dell is releasing a 17", 16", and 15" model with the new i7 processors. My question is will there be a 13-14" model coming out soon, or is that form factor too small for the new i7 processors? I have an aging Inspiron 1420 I am looking to replace sometime between now and the holiday season, but don't want to be waiting around for something I'm never gonna see.

I'm buying my girlfriend a refurbished 1420, and it comes with a dual core pentium (Blehc!). What C2D chips am I able to swap into this thing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI removed everything - but in the process - the camera board - located behind the bezel - broke. I figured that the screen should still work - until a camera can be bought - but it does not. It lights up a bit: dim black - but it will not show a picture.
Do any of yo know - if there could be another cause: cables not not plugged in right - etc? I just don't see how the camera board could be the cause since it's just an extra device.
There are two white and black connectors - under the keyboard - that are part of the lid - which I plugged in. There's also the power plug for the screen (also under the keyboard) and that's plugged in. The only thing I can think of is the camera board. Let me know if I'm missing something - though - because - if so - I'll just do something to fix it now.
Has anyone tried windows 7 on inspiron 1420? how is it running? is there any benefit apart trying something new? a user experience description would give some insight before becoming unnecessarily brave ...

The MBP I bought in Aug '07 2.4 GHz model seems to be having some screen issues... in particular ... pixel issues on the far left side of my screen... I'm attaching a pdf shot of the areas in question that i took with my camera ... there are quite a few patches of pixels that are remaining a shade of white and are not responding to any colour change in desktop wallpaper/ movies/ anything...
I'm terribly dissappointed with this... i've taken pains to ensure that the MBP is always padded when i take it out (and i can count the number of times i've taken it outside home with fingers on one hand) .... so... i'm sure i haven't bumped it anywhere...
I have the apple protection plan...
any advice on what my options might be at this point? would apple look into screen replacement options? I'm in India and there aren't any official apple stores out here either:| (the closest thing out here to an apple store is a premium reseller) ...
on a totally separate note .. my battery seems to be performing excruciatingly badly as well.. health is at 84% after 64 cycles ... and that's after i've done the battery calibration tests ......
this is very handy while use it during playing the media. now i want to use it to control the mouse pointer to browse files with ease. is it possible? if possible how?
