HP Mini 110-3100 OS/Software :: Blank Screen With Cursor Flashing Upper Left Hand Corner

HP Mini 110-3100. When power up, get the HP logo and then a blank screen with curser flashing upper left hand corner.
Ran diagnostics --- everything passed.
Cannot get into System Recovery
Cannot get into Safe Mode
I do get into the Setup Utility but  nothing there that fixes the problem.
I do get into System information, but again, nothing there to fix this start up problem.

Estimates at local shops to fix start at minimum $110 - obviously could be higher
However, Amazon selling HP Mini 110-1030NR for $110

Questions:
1. Â How I can recover to operate the HP MIni 110-3100 I have?
2. Â What are the differences in 110-3100 versus the 110-1030NRÂ
3. Â If I decide to buy the -1030NR instead of having the -3100 repaired, what I am giving up and ALSO, what does the NR stand for?

I have an old HP pavilion dv5 laptop wish won't start up, fan works power light on screen is on but blank with just curser dash top left corner, now I've took hard drive out and tryed starting in BIOS no joy took ram out and I get 3 bleeps when I turn on ....

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook. Â It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while. Â What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen. Â The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable.

I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening. Â However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes.

To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input). Â However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset). Â This generally resolves the issue for a while.

I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occasion.

I just found that my E6530 keyboard bends a little in the left upper corner. When i push a little bit harder the A or S or D key, the keys around move a little bit.

I have an HP G32-205TX notebook...I had a problem which was the device would loop on start without showing the start up post or HP logo.
I changed the Ram memmory and it was fixed. Now I am having a some kind different problem, The notebook stopped looping on start but has all its LED flashing(Caps Lock, Wifi, Lan and the side LED)....

I have a 1 year old inspiron 1520 laptop which has suddenly stopped working.
When I press the power button, the power light comes on but I don't hear a fan whirring, the battery light also comes on. The screen is totally blank and the caps lock icon continually flashes and after about a minute the computer shuts down.
This happens with the battery attached or connected to the mains.

I received my M6400 with 1920 x 1200 RGB LED Display, I just noticed that at the Left Bottom corner there is an Orange type color shadow, just on top of the Start buttom in the taskbar, is this normal ? do I have to ask Dell for a replacement ?, do I need to do any color adjustment configuration ?

I have an HP Pavilion g4-2149se Notebook running Windows 7.For the past 2 weeks almost, whenever I start my computer, before getting the Windows welcome screen, I get a lingering blank screen with a cursor. Then, it'll finally get to the welcome screen, but before it loads my desktop, I'll get another lingering blank screen with a cursor. Honestly, I'm grateful that my computer is still starting up at all... But is there any way to fix the lingering blank screens? It's making me nervous.I've looked around the web for a solution for days, and anything I could find I've tried, but nothing has worked. I uninstalled all recent Windows updates, hoping one of them had went wrong, but no luck I scanned for virus' and malware and found nothing. I've only downloaded one program since I noticed the problem began (4K Video Downloader), though the program doesn't seem to be a problem.Â

The entertainment part on the laptop on the left hand side the touchpad has somewhat frozen so it is impossible to use, it has put itself ontohold somehow and now will not work, i have attempted restarting the laptop and shutting it down completly still the touch pad will not work.

I have a second monitor connected to my TP yoga and I want to work with laptop lid closed.

I set "When I close the lid" action to "Do nothing" when on battery power.Â
Â
Now when I close the lid, the system is still on, which is good, but mouse cursor behaves strangely. After several seconds, it is usually moved to right bottom corner (over the clock/date area in desktop), with circle around it. Mouse is just completely unusable.Â

I am not sure what is wrong, maybe the touchpad/trackpoint/touch screen is being activated when the lid is closed, but the system is still running?Â

I've been listening to a bunch of podcasts on my laptop lately and realized that the right hand side speaker is MUCH louder than my than the left speaker, in fact if I lower the balance on the right speaker to 0% and left to 100% it's not half as loud as the right at 100%. Is this normal? If not is there a fix for this?
Also when typing, if I press the Caps lock key too fast the cursor disappears and my typing is interrupted anyone know is up with that?

I have 2 new E7420 laptops that are replacing some older ones.
When I dock either of them, all I get is a flashing cursor on either the external screens, or the laptop screen. I get the Dell logo, then just a flashing cursor on the top left of the screen.
I can turn the laptop on, wait for it to boot, then dock it, but of the 3 times I've tried that, the USB didnt work once.
Have just upgraded to the latest BIOS, but it didnt change anything.
Is there some BIOS setting or something I need to change?

I have an issue with my Latitude D400 laptop which has now occurred twice. Basically, after operating normally and shutting down properly it has stopped booting. After the POST screen it simply hangs at a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner.
Using the recovery console to repair the MBR and boot sector on the HDD has no effect. Neither does a repair installation of Windows XP Pro. The first time it happened I backed up, wiped the disc and started with a fresh installation of XP Pro.
However, it's now happened again. The hard disc is completely undamaged (all files are intact) but will not boot at all.

We have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.

Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.

But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.

Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?

As a confirmed trackpoint user, having the mouse built into the trackpad of the T431s is causing me all sort of grief, including sore wrists - but there are two problems I can't seem to diagnose.
1) Â When clicking the pad for left mouse click, it often does not work until I click it a few times. Â I notice this more when I disable the trackpad for cursor movement (which I had to do because the cursor moves when I try to click) - but its there even when that is enabled. Â It comes and goes. Â I guess there could be some foot trapped in there, but I've only had it a week and been pretty careful. Â I'd rather not learn to remove the keyboard on day 6. Â
2) The right click gets into a condition where, when browsing,a click brings up a new tab of the link I clicked on, rather than showing me the options (open in new tab, incognito window, save link, etc). Â If I connect a real mouse, it is normal.

My 4-year old Dell Mini 10 has started flashing orange just after bootup & then turns off. (Adapter LED is solid white, the flashing orange is the one at the front.) Removed the battery for an hour, since some postings say it's probably just hot; when it's reinserted the problem returns. But when I run it on AC power with the battery out, no problems.
This machine has had a weird life for a laptop, in that it has almost never been taken anywhere -- that is, it has only rarely run on battery power, and the battery has been fully discharged only a handful of times.
I'll be replacing it soon regardless, but for the month or so between now and then, is there anything wrong or unsafe about running it with no battery in the bay?

The MBP I bought in Aug '07 2.4 GHz model seems to be having some screen issues... in particular ... pixel issues on the far left side of my screen... I'm attaching a pdf shot of the areas in question that i took with my camera ... there are quite a few patches of pixels that are remaining a shade of white and are not responding to any colour change in desktop wallpaper/ movies/ anything...
I'm terribly dissappointed with this... i've taken pains to ensure that the MBP is always padded when i take it out (and i can count the number of times i've taken it outside home with fingers on one hand) .... so... i'm sure i haven't bumped it anywhere...
I have the apple protection plan...
any advice on what my options might be at this point? would apple look into screen replacement options? I'm in India and there aren't any official apple stores out here either:| (the closest thing out here to an apple store is a premium reseller) ...
on a totally separate note .. my battery seems to be performing excruciatingly badly as well.. health is at 84% after 64 cycles ... and that's after i've done the battery calibration tests ......

Hey guys I have had my SXPS 1645 for almost 8 months now and I recently have had issues with it. Whenever I turn it on, it seems to boot fine (maybe a few more clicks then usual) and the boot up screen is tinted blue and the screen flashes. The OS seems to work fine as it logs in and everything, yet the screen tint and flashing remains. I assume its a problem with the RGBLED display, but I am not sure how exactly I can remedy this problem.

I rarely use this machine but a couple of months ago I went to boot it up and found that I was not able to get past the Windows splash screen. Sometimes I don't even get the Windows splash screen, I just get a black screen. Rarely I get a Windows screen saying that it is diagnosing a system problem or something to that effect and I can even get to where it will allow me to do some Windows diagnostics but nothing ever comes of it and the process is extremely slow.

I called Lenovo, but of course my machine is out of waranty so the tech just gave me a few pointers and said I could send it in to the depo but the potential repair cost could range up to about 75% of what I paid for the machine in the first place. Anyways, after having me try a few things in the BIOS he suggested that it was likely the hard drive. I mistakenly thought from the time that I bought this machine that the OS was installed on the 24 GB SSD so I ordered a new SSD and swapped it in. This made no difference at all as I have now learned that the mSATA SSD drive is merely for cache to speed up booting.

I am afraid that this means the main HDD is at fault, and quite frankly, if I replace it I am going to do a fresh install of Windows 7. But I do have pictures and docs that I would like to salvage if possible.

my daughters DV4t began having video issues. The unit had been flawless for a year but after the unit had run for 5 to 10 minutes, every 4 or 5 seconds or so it would begin flashing a pencil thin green line horizontally across the entire bottom of the screen. The longer the unit ran the larger the line would become until it consumed the entire task bar. It demonstrated this behavior in normal mode, safe mode, and in BIOS mode. I tried everything I knew (drivers, BIOS, etc…) to solve the problem without resolution.
Luckily we have an extended 3 year warranty with ADP. The unit is/was just over its initial 1 year warranty period (Christmas). The unit was returned for repair and HP replaced the lid, LCD, and associated parts. I’m happy to say that in 8 days the unit came back with no issues and in flawless condition, but I must also say that it’s a bit disappointing that such a failure should occur so early in it’s well cared for life.

I have an Inspiron 15r that acts up sometimes. I never know when it going to do it. Online or just using computer of my pictures or anything!
Along the left side of the screen bubbles start coming up then the screen starts flashing sometime its whatever web sight I was on or email or looking a my documents.
It started when the machine wasn;t ever 6 mo. old. I doesn't do it every day. But yesterday it did it every time I turned it on.
My warranty is coming up and I'd like to get this fixed.

I recently purchased an Inspiron 7720 in October 2012. A week ago, the laptop started freezing up while playing world of warcraft. I checked my Nvidia video card and there were some updates. I installed them and the computer started working normal again. On Saturday, while I was using Skype to transfer a file, the computer gave me a white screen and I had to hold down the power button to get it to shutdown. It rebooted and was working normal again. Then yesterday (Sunday), while using video chat on Skype the computer screen went into a flashing color pattern and I had to hold down the power button to get it to shutdown. Are there any diagnostic tests that I can run before calling Dell's tech department? I believe it is a video card issue but not completely sure.

flashing screen on a Envy m6-1125dx?  After log in it starts to flash between a blue screen and the desktop. It's impossible to perform any task. This problem started after an automatic upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1. I am able to launch the task manager, but there is no response to any command.Â
