I think the SD card eject spring in my envy 15 has failed-- the stupid card won't pop out, can't be pushed in at all, and doesn't stick out enough to grab with anything. What the heck do you do if this happens? Is there a place to stick a paper clip to manually eject it like old CD-ROM drives? Am I completely hosed and in need of warranty service just to get a memory card out?
I have a envy 17 laptop with Windows 8.1 and I was trying to change the display settings after applying one the mouse and all the icons on the desktop disappeared I tried accessing task manager but the screen just switched to a light blue color with no error message. Ive tried restarting it but that hasn't done anything, what to do?
So recently I was on my laptop, and I walked away to go handle something it died of no more battery charge pretty normal I left and tried to use my laptop when I came home some hours later, and now it will not proceed to my password screen. It turns on and the circle loader just spins I'm putting this up from my phone seeing as I can't use my laptop. I ran some test that told me it failed because my dst drive , or something hard drive 1, system E I'm not really sure.
Sometimes when I turn it on it will say "starting automatic repair" or something I'll leave it on then the screen just goes black, it'll still be running. I really don't know what's wrong with it...it's very sudden my laptop never occurred problems before. It won't even load when I press f12.I have a HP ENVY m6 sleekbook. It's not touch screen. It has beats audio but, it doesn't have a press able beats audio button. No CD/disk drive I can't load disk in my laptop. The batteries built in Model # m6-k010dxHard drive short dst fails extensive test....
I just got my brand new dv7 out of the box, booted her up, went through the setup and did first reboot... on boot it just sits at a black screen beeping?!? If I go into bios first and then exit and cont booting it goes to windows, but then it acts as if its got a stuck key? at the password prompt the whole form box is full of characters already... so i disabled the password prompt so it would go straight to windows, reboot, into bios, back out, past password prompt, into windows and it then makes the 'ding' noise of a incorrectly pressed key, does this for about 30 secs then stops.
I was convinced to go HP even tho my gut was telling me different!
I have an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition running Windows 7. Its card reader is not working. When I insert an SD card, I get a message that the device is not installed properly. Windows prompts me to update the driver, so I have let it, but it cannot find the driver. In the Device Manager, with the SD card inserted, it shows under "Other devices" a "Disk drive" with a yellow "!" symbol. The device status reads:
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
I have tried to update the driver from there, but again no driver is reported to be found.
By the way, the Device Manager says that the Realtek PCIE CardReader is working properly. I have updated its driver using sp66065.exe, but there is no difference. The card reader is still not reading, nor is there a drive letter showing up for the inserted card.
If I disable the Realtek PCIE CardReader, then the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager goes away. But the card reader is not functioning all the same. If I enable the card reader, the same error returns with a yellow '!" under the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager,
My hp.com customized dv4t arrived this morning and I have already managed to create a problem. I attempted to stick the media center remote into the eSata(or w.e) slot and I managed to push it in all the way, but now it is stuck. This isn't a problem as I probably will never use the remote, but it will be a pet peeve for a long time. Is there anyway to remove it?
My battery will not charge even though I just got it about 2-3 months ago from HP while my laptop was still under warranty. When I hover over the battery status it tells me 0% available (plugged in, charging) but no matter what I do it won't charge. I've tried charging this battery on my other dv5t with a different AC adapter, but the same thing is happening. Are there any tricks or anything that I can do? This is a new battery and for it to die after 2-3 months just doesn't make sense. HP battery check tells me the battery health is Good.
I've got a tc4200. 1.7mhz, 1gb ram. I bought it used, seems to be pretty solid save the fact that no matter what I do I cant seem to get the processor to budge from 789mhz. Power schemes make no difference.
I upgraded to windows 8.1 from store on my HP Envy DV6 7206tx and now, i am have problem with drivers for video and wireless cards. Both of them are not detected... checked in the windows device manager in video drivers Intel HD 4000 is detected and dedicated Nvidia card is not detected, it say "Microsofts Basic Display Adapter" instead.I just installed RaLink's Drivers from HP site got my wireless card working yet with problems like frequent disconnects and slow speed. When are the update from HP for all drivers expected for windows 8.1 ?
Basically I'm having some issues with my laptop battery, which seems to be stuck at a particular percentage. By this I mean that when its plugged in the indicator says:
However, when I unplug the mains the laptop turns off immediately, giving the impression that there is no charge at all.
I own a Hp dv5t and recently the speakers on the laptop stoped working. the only way i can get sound is by plugging in headphones. It seems the computer is stuck in headphone mode. I've been searching for an answer the past few days but couldn't find a solution.
I have tried many times and with many methods to fix the pixels, but I am only able to fix it one-by-one, pixel-by-pixel. Is there any way around this? (and BTW its my assigned school computer and is out of warranty)
I reinstalled Windows 7 from disk, and can't get the Card Reader to work properly. I tried the drivers from the site and it installs but still doesn't work.
I have a three year old DV 9207us. Has GeForce Go 7600 video card.
I had to do a clean install of Windows Vista Home 32 bit. I installed service pack sp42635 for the nvidia driver. The highest resolution I can get is 1024 X 768. it was higher before the operating system re-install. I have uninstalled the Nvidia drivers back to the generic VGA drivers and then reinstalled the Nvidia drivers. Still max resolution is 1024 x 768 under display settings.
What am I missing to get the resolution to 1440 x 990?
I have a HP ENVY 17t-j100 Leap Motion QE CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) with optimus technology. Can I disconnect the optimus technology and only use the NVIDIA card?
I have HP Envy dv6 7200t laptop which I purchased directly from HP.
In the speifications I requested a special graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M with 2 GB dedicated ram.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit in English.
Now I didn't have much use for such a graphic card until today - I installed a game and it pointed out my graphic card sucks and the game won't run smoothly on it - it said my graphic card is Intel HD Graphics 4000.
I checked the device manager and found out 2 graphic drivers - for both of the listed graphic cards.
both of them are up-to-date (I made sure about the second one from nvidia control panel, and even reinstalled it just incase)
Assumptions:
I am not much of a hardware expert but I assume I do have 2 graphic card - internal on the motherboard (intel) and external (GeForce) - And if thats the case, somehow Windows chooses to use Intel instead of GeForce.
I also made sure of it by disabling the Intel HD Graphics 4000 from the Device Manager and my screen went black - I guess its safe to assume that indeed the intel driver is the one in use.
You can't Change your Graphics card, is there any graphics card that i can use through the PCI express slot, or the the expansion port? the laptop is hp pavillion dv2000 (exactly: dv2132ea) since i don't want to go through the hassle of changing my laptop. I just need a better vga card
I'm shopping for laptops right now and I'm pretty much stuck between these two. My main question for the 14 is will it be able to do full hd? I know 1920x1080 is a bit much to ask for on a 14.5" screen but I haven't been able to find a solid answer for this question. The 14 has more features and the internal cd drive is a plus, but not a dealbreaker for the 15 since the cd drive isn't used too much. Taking out price, which one would be a better buy?
I have a couple of questions about the Envy v2. I'm certain the answers are somewhere in the massive owner's thread but it's way too long to want to go through at this point.
My questions are:
1) Audio quality of external speakers. Is there enough bass in them? Do they sound "tin-y"?
2) Noise from the fan when the GPU is in high use. How loud is the fan? Has anyone put a decibel meter to it?
3) Temp of the GPU. My Studio 15 is hitting a high of 70c when running and was wondering how the newer ATI is.
