View 8 RepliesDoes the onboard card reader in my my 13-p111 nr X2 notebook (Win 8.1) support SDXC cards in one or both slots (standard and micro)? Win 8.1 supports the file system, but my 64GB micro sd card is not being recognized in the onboard slot, making me think that the card reader hardware may not support that format. If the onboard reader does not , should the notebook still recognize a 64GB SDXC card in a USB card reader stick?
I've looked in the service manual for this X2 notebook and it is not specific about SD 0r SDHC or SDXC support. Where can I find detailed system specs for this machine?
I think the SD card eject spring in my envy 15 has failed-- the stupid card won't pop out, can't be pushed in at all, and doesn't stick out enough to grab with anything. What the heck do you do if this happens? Is there a place to stick a paper clip to manually eject it like old CD-ROM drives? Am I completely hosed and in need of warranty service just to get a memory card out?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to remove the plastic blank that ships in the express card slot?
I have to use a dental pick to catch a corner of it and pull it out. The media slot works fine because you just push in on it until it pops out but the express card doesn't seem to do this? ..
I was playing with my computer and I noticed that in the battery compartment, there is a compartment for something that looked like a sim card, so I busted out the user manual (for the first time) and looked it up, and sure enough it's a slot for a sim card.
Anyway, I'm wondering what that slot does, which I'm probably guessing mobile broadband? HSDPA/EVDO?
Does anyone here actually use the sim card slot, and is there something special you need or can you just go to a local AT&T store and buy a sim card with HSDPA?
I have the Dell Studio 14z... I want to make use of my Express Card Slot.. Will I get any peformance boost by installing my OS to the following card:

I have had my studio 1737 for ages now.. I took it apart today to steal a U.Fl connector for my eeepc and i noticed a sim card slot on the board (remove the battery and you access it there) is it a modem or back up thing? Any ideas

However, the card fits very loosely inside the slot, and comes out upon a slightest pull.
Even when my hand accidentally touchs the external antenna portion of the card, the hardware removal sound is heard
i just found out that there is a SIM card slot inside the battery section. can anyone brief me on the usage of this and also the procedure for the same ?

For those with the new Sony Vaio Z11, how does the Sony MS card and the SD memory cards fit in their respective slots? Once inserted, are they flush against the notebook body contour or do they stick out?
Also, is there a locking mechanism that holds the cards in place? Or are the cards just wedged in there
Does the (U.S) Vaio Z790 have a Sim card slot, for mobile broadband, i know the old models had one but does this model have one? Does it support HSPDA and/or 3G.

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 and my SD card slot will not work. My brother has the SAME exact one as I do and his works.
I tried my same card on his and it worked fine. We ordered the laptops together, added the same stuff just changed the quantity.
I remember having an option to get one of those add-on's by the pci slot (I think that's what the slot on the left side right?)

I bought this computer refurbished so there is a chance the software driver may not be here at all to patch.
I recently discovered that my T520 has a SIM card slot (inside the battery slot)
I tried to put my cell phone SIM card in it, but there's no reaction (no "New device connected" popup dialog).
What should I do ?
Is there a driver + software that needs to be installed ? Which one?
I want to upgrade the RAM of my laptop, but before I buy a second card, I wanted to make sure that the computer would be compatible with it. I opened it up to access the RAM, but when I tried to put the card that was already installed into the second slot, it wouldn't fit. It appears to be the right size, but it will not fit in the slot.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAlright I have looked at every single piece of literature I can find and I am stumped. I have an eMachines EM250 (mechanically identical to the AO D250) and I can not for the life of me figure out what the small card slot on the bottom of the computer is. I know the memory slot and the HDD slot but the third slot is a mystery. I think it is a mini-PCI slot for a solid state memory module but I'd like to find a definitive answer before I go any further.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI just reveiced my Lenovo Thinkpad x240 20AL000AAU with SD card reader integrated.
I inserted an SD card standard size and the card is read properly, I can access all the files and I can write on it.
The problem is that I cannot extract the card from the SD card slot!
If I right-click on SD card in My Computer and choose eject, it says that it is safe to remove the card. If I select "Safely remove Hardware and eject media" it tells me that it is safe to remove it...but the card is stuck inside!
I read somewhere to press the card until I hear a click but I cannot hear any click.
Also the card is unreachable inside the slot. I cannot grab it to pull it. I can only press it a little bit with the nail, it goes one millimeter inside but I don't hear any click.
can my thinkpad e520 handle sdxc cards?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy HP Compaq 2510p doesn't have the PCMCIA slot, it has Smart Card reader instead. I assume that the Smart Card reader is installed in the PCMCIA slot. If so, is there a way to remove that Smart Card slot so that I could use the PCMCIA slot?
I read the manual and it shows that in order to get to that Smart Card reader, I have to remove the motherboard. I'm afraid doing so will void the warranty.
I have a DV3Z with a slot-load DVD drive.
I somehow messed up my Windows 7 installation and get a BSOD every time I try to boot into Win7 or even safe mode from the hard drive.
However, what I can NOT figure out is how to EJECT the disc in the drive.
I can get to a command prompt via the Startup Repair advanced options, but there doesn't appear to be a command to eject in the disc.
Is there a keyboard combination I can press at power on to eject the disc?
I have an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition running Windows 7. Its card reader is not working. When I insert an SD card, I get a message that the device is not installed properly. Windows prompts me to update the driver, so I have let it, but it cannot find the driver. In the Device Manager, with the SD card inserted, it shows under "Other devices" a "Disk drive" with a yellow "!" symbol. The device status reads:
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
I have tried to update the driver from there, but again no driver is reported to be found.
By the way, the Device Manager says that the Realtek PCIE CardReader is working properly. I have updated its driver using sp66065.exe, but there is no difference. The card reader is still not reading, nor is there a drive letter showing up for the inserted card.
If I disable the Realtek PCIE CardReader, then the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager goes away. But the card reader is not functioning all the same. If I enable the card reader, the same error returns with a yellow '!" under the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager,
