I reinstalled Windows 7 from disk, and can't get the Card Reader to work properly. I tried the drivers from the site and it installs but still doesn't work.

I am running Windows 8.0 (64bit) and my wifi is not working properly on Battery mode. On AC Adapter, it works 100% perfect but in battery mode, it always goes to Limited Connectivity. Repaired it but 25seconds later it gets the same problem. Limited Connectivity every single time. It's an endless cycle. Warranty has expired and I am not happy with it.Â
Even if repaired, cannot open any website. Full 5 wifi bars but still the same result. Tried manually (TCP/IP Settings IPv4) but didnt work at all.
My wifi driver is Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230 (Â 15.12.0.6 version updated from intel.com website).Â

Tried everything that I could possibly think off such as disabling Norton Firewall & Running windows firewall but still the same problem.

My memory card reader was fine, however after reinstalling Vista Ultimate it won't work.
It shows up as "Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller" in Device Manager. However I've tried multiple SD cards and it just won't recognize that anything has been inserted. The computer doesn't pause or show any indication that it's doing something when I insert a memory card.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition running Windows 7. Its card reader is not working. When I insert an SD card, I get a message that the device is not installed properly. Windows prompts me to update the driver, so I have let it, but it cannot find the driver. In the Device Manager, with the SD card inserted, it shows under "Other devices" a "Disk drive" with a yellow "!" symbol.  The device status reads:

I have tried to update the driver from there, but again no driver is reported to be found.

By the way, the Device Manager says that the Realtek PCIE CardReader is working properly. I have updated its driver using sp66065.exe, but there is no difference. The card reader is still not reading, nor is there a drive letter showing up for the inserted card.

If I disable the Realtek PCIE CardReader, then the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager goes away. But the card reader is not functioning all the same. If I enable the card reader, the same error returns with a yellow '!"  under the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager,
I have tried everything to get this SD card reader to work but to no avail. Even a fresh install of W7/32 ... nothing... Every time i insert an SD card in the slot... i get a message. USB device not recognized ... one of the usb devices has malfunctioned & Windows does not recognize it... I am also just using a 2 g SD card not an sdhc card.

Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. We install the driver R188776.exe, install it, and re-boot, but the memory card reader still doesn't work.. Is there another driver we can install?

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340P.
I am having problems to reduce the brightness of my screen (i cant use it full brightness)
What happens is that if i press FN + F3 or F4 (sound) it works perfectly, but when I try FN+F5 or F6 I can listen to the sound that i pressed that, I can see the little black window with the bars but it does not reduce.

I have a problem with the audio. I reinstal the O.S. because my laptop was working slow, and because the sound did not work properly. Everything affter instalation works fine, just the audio doen't work properly, it sounds...hesitating
I thought the problem was the cpu temperatures... 60º-65º idle, and just open a few windows it reachs at 75º-80º, and stay in this temps.
Notebook Hardware Control, lets make undervolting. So I make some test... and just when the cpu loads at 100% the audio works properly, clean and perfect. If cpu loads under 80% the audio sounds... but defective, not clean...
I got Inspiron 15R 5520 with Windows 8 and after I installed this OS my webcam doesn't work properly anymore.Well, actually it's work but sometimes. Â But almost all the time Skype telling me that I should close all the programs that may use the webcam, but I haven't any other apps that uses webcam, Is there some additional drivers or application I should install? Â BTW it worked properly on Windows 7. And it IS working on Ubuntu so I presume that's a software issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HP DV6226US and I recently updated the BIOS to the F.2D version (from what I remember as F.14, and that BIOS version F.14 is not listed under the previous versions in the download section). I am running vista 32 os. F.2D is the version that is given for my model of computer on the HP software and drivers site. When I ran the updater, I remember it saying it checked compatibility before the BIOS flash and that it was the correct one. I do however have a T2250 intel processor rather than a T2060, which was the processor that my laptop was supposed to come with and I don't know if that would have any effect on which BIOS update I truly need.Â

Before the flash the fan used to run constantly with obvious varying degrees of RPM's. After the flash, the fan doesn't seem to come on at all. It turned on once when I restarted the computer (right before it started loading vista). Other than that, I can't here a thing. However, I have used HD Tune and a very simple CPU monitor to see what kind of temps the internals are running at. My HDD (WD scorpion black 7200rpm 320GB) is running at constant 46c to 47c. Well within the manufactures specs, even under scans of the 200+gb loaded onto it. The CPU cores seem to be well within manufactures specs as well. Is this change in fan behavior due to the BIOS update, and if I should be concerned about the seemingly lack of fan activity. I use this laptop for DJ and Karaoke at 4 to 5 hour intervals about 5 days a week, and require that it not overheat.
The F11 key on my laptop is disabled recently. Â It's not glowing in red when I press it. Furthermore, the laptop have no sound at all regarless I press on F9 or F10 Keys. It's only function when I restart the laptop each time.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bought Acer aspire E15 model E5-572G-5577 which came with i5-4210m (2.6 to 3.2Ghz),8GB RAM,Nvidia GeForce 840M 2GB dedicated VRAM,1TB HDD and freeDOS. Since i recieved Win8.1 x64 for my Birthday i bought this laptop without windows and installed 8.1, as Acer claims that fully supports this OS.
Everything was ok in installation and i even installed HD4600 driver but when installed Nvidia driver although it looked ok and it was shown in device manager the graphic card wasn't show in my display (only HDGraphics) and in nvidia control panel i had only the 3D settings option but still it seems that 840M hasn't kicked in.
I assume its the driver so after many attempt with different drivers i still have the same issue. The laptop is brand new and in OEM 8.1 it seems to work but not for all of us that have a bought copy of Windows. I have wasted so much money on a Acer with 840M GPU that wont work.

First off, I know the fingerprint reader is not very secure. But since I have a new XPS 1530 with a built in reader, I want to make sure I can use it because 1) it's under warranty & 2) it's cool.
I've read the readers can be quite flaky so if I decided to actually use it to log onto my computer, I want to make sure I will also always have the option to enter a password instead

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a EliteBook 8730w  sinds 2010  and I just installed Windows 8.1.Now I don't have any access to my SD reader.According to the device manager the SD reader  driver is up to date and is working, but I don't see the SD reader in the file explorer.The SD reader is a RICOH.In the device manager I have some problems with Other devices:
1) Base system device
2)Â Base system device
3) Fingerprint sensor
4) Unknown device

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 which had both Intel and AMD drivers installed correctly, switchable graphics was also functioning properly.

The problem started when I tried to update the 2010 AMD driver with the latest one (2011) on the officail Lenovo site. The install seemed to run through, but informed me that there were warnings during the installation. I opened the linked log file, but it did not include any errors or warnings, only that the installation ran through successfully.

As the driver version still showed that it was the 2010 driver which is installed, I uninstalled the driver, and tried to install the 2011 driver again after a reboot. It once again said that the installation was successfull, but with warnings (still no warning in the log file). When I tried to check the driver version, it turned out that the AMD graphics card is not visible in the device manager, not even as an unrecognised device.

I then tried to install the old 2010 driver (the original driver installation files were already on my D: drive upon delivery), but got the same results as with the 2011 driver.

Removing any AMD/ATi related programs did not work either, I still get a "finished" installation with warnings, and a log file without warnings or errors.
