Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 :: Webcam Does Not Work Properly With Windows 8

I got Inspiron 15R 5520 with Windows 8 and after I installed this OS my webcam doesn't work properly anymore.Well, actually it's work but sometimes. Â But almost all the time Skype telling me that I should close all the programs that may use the webcam, but I haven't any other apps that uses webcam, Is there some additional drivers or application I should install? Â BTW it worked properly on Windows 7. And it IS working on Ubuntu so I presume that's a software issue.

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 5520 to Windows 8 and now the media buttons don't work. Is there a Dell driver or update that I need to install to bring back this functionality in Windows 8?

When I turn my Dell Inspiron 7720 on, integrated webcam often does not work. Camera app in Windows 8 shows "there's a problem with a camera", other apps also show error messages or just a black screen.
After several resets the camera may start to work properly till the next reset. The camera is always shown in the Device Manager without errors and in the USBView I see that at least USB descriptors are correct. Moreover, after several disable/enable cycles in device manager the camera may start to work.
I've created two HDD partitions and installed Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro (both from original ISO files downloaded from MSDN). On clear Win 8 the camera shows the same problem, but on Win 7 it works properly.
There is no camera driver for Inspiron 7720 on the Dell web-site, thus I've used standard Microsoft driver on both Win 7 and Win 8.
I'm still not sure is it a hardware problem, because it is reproduced only with Windows 8. The computer was initially sold with Ubuntu, but Windows 8 is in the list of supported OS.
Camera IDs are: VID = 0C45 (Sonix), PID = 648D, REV = 2206.

I am facing the same with my Inspiron 3537 webcam, have done fair bit of reading and tried all solutions provided but none worked.
The integrated webcam or a third party webcam does not work with any program (tried Skype, Dell Webcam Central). I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the cams and drivers but nothing works.

my first time to own a laptop :D so now i bought this laptop ( inspiron 15r 5520 ) like 4 months ago .. laptop works perfectly fine and i like it :D now though i would like to upgrade it to windows 8 i already got my windows 8 now though im thinking of installing it on my laptop question is this if i were to install it right now what should i do ?? is there any drivers or anything i need to install once more after i install windows 8 ?Â

I have a new OTB acer aspire 5520, and on initial booting everything worked sweetly but when i am trying to access my crystal eye cam on YM or any IM programs it says the webcam is not connected, Now I checked device manager and there is no webcam, so i installed the driver from the erecovery management tool I tried first the BISON driver and utility without success upon installation the program says the computer should display a "found new hardware" message, but nothing showed up. then when it restarted my machine and when i checked on device manager still no cam... next i uninstalled the BISON driver and installed the 2nd one (SUYIN) with the same results. I searched the support and download section of ACER online and tried a third driver the CHICONY and still the same results.. Finally i re installed my system to full factory default and re tried everything still the same problems...

I have just received my new Inspiron 15R which I cannot fault, even after the minefield of getting to grips with Windows 8.........However for some reason my wifi connection will be stable for about 10 minutes and then show limited connection with no internet access although the network connection is very good! All other laptops and devices are still connected!

I received my Dell Inspiron 15R - 5520 laptop and am attempting to set it up to perform a UEFI boot to a Windows 7 (64 bit) installation.  I am using bios version A11 which is the latest available.
If I use legacy, I am able to boot fine to the Installation DVD and install/use the system. Â If I use UEFI (non-secure boot), Â it will freeze during the boot process for a long period of time. Â I do not ever get to the GUI to attempt installation. I have tried clearing the disk partitions using diskpart -> clean to ensure it is not due to having GPT vs MBR and have also tried changing the SATA adapter to ATA vs AHCI.
Alternately, Â I am able to boot to, Â and install Windows 8 RTM in UEFI mode. Â
Before I get a lot of responses of "Don't use UEFI", Â the reason I purchased this laptop was for the purpose of dual booting between windows 8 and windows 7 for development purposes, Â and require the use of secureboot to properly test the software I am developing. Â If this laptop is not able to run Windows 7 in UEFI mode, Â I will need to return it and select an alternate vendor.

I just bought a T430u but I cannot get the WebCam to work properly. When I use for example the Windows 8 camera app or Skype the green light next to the WebCam turns on but instead of seeing me on the screen I just find a grey picture with a white crossed out camera.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340P.
I am having problems to reduce the brightness of my screen (i cant use it full brightness)
What happens is that if i press FN + F3 or F4 (sound) it works perfectly, but when I try FN+F5 or F6 I can listen to the sound that i pressed that, I can see the little black window with the bars but it does not reduce.
how to fix it?

I have a problem with the audio. I reinstal the O.S. because my laptop was working slow, and because the sound did not work properly. Everything affter instalation works fine, just the audio doen't work properly, it sounds...hesitating
I thought the problem was the cpu temperatures... 60º-65º idle, and just open a few windows it reachs at 75º-80º, and stay in this temps.
Notebook Hardware Control, lets make undervolting. So I make some test... and just when the cpu loads at 100% the audio works properly, clean and perfect. If cpu loads under 80% the audio sounds... but defective, not clean...

Built in mic on my Aspire 5738ZG don't work properly when I use Skype. I'm on windows xp, 32 bit. I installed Audio Realtek drivers from Acer officialy web site but sound of mic is still very low. Other people said that they hear me very bad when we talk on Skype for example. What I can do?

I am running Windows 8.0 (64bit) and my wifi is not working properly on Battery mode. On AC Adapter, it works 100% perfect but in battery mode, it always goes to Limited Connectivity. Repaired it but 25seconds later it gets the same problem. Limited Connectivity every single time. It's an endless cycle. Warranty has expired and I am not happy with it.Â
Even if repaired, cannot open any website. Full 5 wifi bars but still the same result. Tried manually (TCP/IP Settings IPv4) but didnt work at all.
My wifi driver is Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230 (Â 15.12.0.6 version updated from intel.com website).Â

I have an HP DV6226US and I recently updated the BIOS to the F.2D version (from what I remember as F.14, and that BIOS version F.14 is not listed under the previous versions in the download section). I am running vista 32 os. F.2D is the version that is given for my model of computer on the HP software and drivers site. When I ran the updater, I remember it saying it checked compatibility before the BIOS flash and that it was the correct one. I do however have a T2250 intel processor rather than a T2060, which was the processor that my laptop was supposed to come with and I don't know if that would have any effect on which BIOS update I truly need.Â

Before the flash the fan used to run constantly with obvious varying degrees of RPM's. After the flash, the fan doesn't seem to come on at all. It turned on once when I restarted the computer (right before it started loading vista). Other than that, I can't here a thing. However, I have used HD Tune and a very simple CPU monitor to see what kind of temps the internals are running at. My HDD (WD scorpion black 7200rpm 320GB) is running at constant 46c to 47c. Well within the manufactures specs, even under scans of the 200+gb loaded onto it. The CPU cores seem to be well within manufactures specs as well. Is this change in fan behavior due to the BIOS update, and if I should be concerned about the seemingly lack of fan activity. I use this laptop for DJ and Karaoke at 4 to 5 hour intervals about 5 days a week, and require that it not overheat.

I recently bought Acer aspire E15 model E5-572G-5577 which came with i5-4210m (2.6 to 3.2Ghz),8GB RAM,Nvidia GeForce 840M 2GB dedicated VRAM,1TB HDD and freeDOS. Since i recieved Win8.1 x64 for my Birthday i bought this laptop without windows and installed 8.1, as Acer claims that fully supports this OS.
Everything was ok in installation and i even installed HD4600 driver but when installed Nvidia driver although it looked ok and it was shown in device manager the graphic card wasn't show in my display (only HDGraphics) and in nvidia control panel i had only the 3D settings option but still it seems that 840M hasn't kicked in.
I assume its the driver so after many attempt with different drivers i still have the same issue. The laptop is brand new and in OEM 8.1 it seems to work but not for all of us that have a bought copy of Windows. I have wasted so much money on a Acer with 840M GPU that wont work.

I purchased a DELL XPS13  earlier this year. Until a couple of days ago the web cam worked fine. Now, it does not function. When I try to use it, the light comes on - so it appears it is hard wired -  but an image does not appear. I have tried updating the drivers but the computer says the drivers are up to date.
