Acer :: Memory Card Reader Doesn't Work
Dec 13, 2008My memory card reader was fine, however after reinstalling Vista Ultimate it won't work.
It shows up as "Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller" in Device Manager. However I've tried multiple SD cards and it just won't recognize that anything has been inserted. The computer doesn't pause or show any indication that it's doing something when I insert a memory card.
I have a Ferrari 4006WLMi with Windows Vista Ultimate.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers several times already. I have also upgraded to the latest BIOS
I need to use a 4GB SDHC card as RAM via Readyboost...

Feb 8, 2013I upgraded my daughters Inspiron 1520 to Windows 8 and everything works well. The only problem we are having is the memory card reader does not work. Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. We install the driver R188776.exe, install it, and re-boot, but the memory card reader still doesn't work.. Is there another driver we can install?

Apr 30, 2014I have a EliteBook 8730w sinds 2010 and I just installed Windows 8.1.Now I don't have any access to my SD reader.According to the device manager the SD reader driver is up to date and is working, but I don't see the SD reader in the file explorer.The SD reader is a RICOH.In the device manager I have some problems with Other devices:
1) Base system device
2) Base system device
3) Fingerprint sensor
4) Unknown device
I suppose that the problem must be in Other devices.

Nov 12, 2008Sometimes (not everytime, seems random) my laptop won't wake up after being put to sleep by closing the lid.
usually, I just have to tap the space bar a couple of times, and it wakes right up, but other times, there isn't anything that will wake it up ,and I have to shut it down (hold the power button for 4-5 secs) and restart it...

Sep 19, 2014I have tried everything to get this SD card reader to work but to no avail. Even a fresh install of W7/32 ... nothing... Every time i insert an SD card in the slot... i get a message. USB device not recognized ... one of the usb devices has malfunctioned & Windows does not recognize it... I am also just using a 2 g SD card not an sdhc card.
In the Device Manager.... it shows up as "unknown device" yellow highlight... try to update the driver ... says i already have the best driver..... when i take the sd card out...unknown device disappears... i have also re-installed the drivers from here for the card reader... but nothing....
Furthermore... it seems to lead to an error code 43 ..

Jul 18, 2014Computer p/n ET831UA#ABA came with WIN XP Home Edition. Label states designed for Windows XP, Windows Vista Capable. I formatted the harddrive and loaded Windows Vista Business 64 bit. I downloaded and installed all drivers that were recommended by HP but my Sound and Audio doesn't work. Neither does my Mass Storage Controller nor my PCI Modem. All were working with the WIN XP.

It just won't hold the SD cards in place.
If i hold it with my finger it reads the card, but it won't fixate in there.
If i release the finger the card comes out. On my m1730 i put the card inside, it locks in, i press it, it goes out. So i assume it's a problem with the reader.

Feb 28, 2009I just finished installing Windows 7 on my new dv7-1285dx and while everything works just fine after a Windows update (audio/video/touchpad/sd card reader), when I run device manager there are three devices with no drivers and a small yellow exclamation mark on their icon. These three devices are all listed as "Base System Device" and when I tried searching for a driver update online it didn't find anything. I visited HP's drivers page for my model and I think I have everything listed there already working... It's just these three devices which I don't even know what they are.
In the original Vista install that came with the laptop there are no such errors in Device Manager. I already have my recovery discs if these might help in this situation.

Sep 7, 2009HP HDX16 with P7350. In CPU-Z I see core speed 1595.8 I'm observing and it changes to 1595.9 and then 1596.0 and then 1596.1 and then shoots up to 1995.0 - I have never seen it reach 2.0 and never go down below 1595. When processor speed changes I can here problems with sound while listening to music.
Another thing is the Bus speed, which is fixed at 266.0mhx, isn't it supposed to be 1066?

About a week ago I had to do a full restore from the restoration discs HP had sent me, something was causing Windows Explorer to be incredibly unstable and I couldnt even make a set of backup discs...
BUT thats not the problem, after the installation, I realized that my laptop no longer detects the built it fingerprint reader and memory card slots... I figured, ok maybe I just need to go back and manually install the drivers... So I did from the HP website and still nothing worked... So I contacted HP support and naturally they gave me the links to the exact same pages I got the drivers off of, then they had me update my BIOS... still nothing... then they had me reinstall my fingerprint reader software... Still nothing... So then they told me to just send it into them under warrenty to have it fixed, except I'm a full time student and I depend on my laptop.

It is an AMD Athlon X2 sytem wiyh an Nvidia nforce chipset running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. The card it uses currently ( an 802.11B/G) is an Atheros 5007 based card (part #459339-003). HP/Compaq does make a Atheros 5009 based 802.11N card (part# 482260-001) but it is in short supply and those place that do have it are prices as well as no way to verify it would work with this model as HP customer care would not give a part number via e-mail and directed me to their 800 number to place an order(). I also have heard some issues with the 5009 based cards . I have been looking at an Intel 4965AGN and a Broadcom BCM94322MC but no way to verify it would work with my computer. One seller on E-bal says the Intel unit will not work with HP/Compaq computers but in google searches I have found some HP use this Intel card/chipset in their WLAN card

Oct 7, 2007just moved to BD+ and my Power DVD 7.3 can't handle it anymore and I'm getting really frustrated with trying to get my blu rays to work. Cyberlink is a terrible company probably run by like 3 guys. The customer support is awful and I can't get anything to work anymore. I'm begining to think that getting blu ray on laptops was a bad idea. WHo knew they were going to change things on a month to month basis.
