View 4 RepliesI have a new X240, and the fingerprint logon no longer works after the computer resumes from standby or from a lockscreen (screen saver). I have checked other solutions here and in other sites, namely:
1. unchecking the power option of the fp reader in device manager,
2. and switching the 30-day standby in Lenovo Settings
Neither of those solutions have worked. I have the latest BIOS and FP driver versions. I made sure the the FP was enabled in BIOS, and I even switched the settings to allow internal FP reader only. Still, the FP will only work when I first power on the laptop, but not after resuming from stand-by. I have checked in Device Manager after manually entering the password, and it says that the FP is working properly.
I've got a brandnew Thinkpad E530 with Windows 8 and integrated Camera. But the Camera is not wotking. When I start the Camera-App, the green Light of the Camera starts to shine, but there is no preview. Theres is only a picture of a crossed camera. Also if i start skype, my skype-partner can't see me.
I already had a look in the BIOS if the Camera is enabled (it is) and reinstalled the driver of the camera.
I can't found my camera device in device manager and there is no imaging devices in device manager. There is no camera tab in Communication Settings (Fn+F5)...
I tried to install
"Integrated Camera Driver (1.0M) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - Notebooks"
"Integrated Camera Driver (0.3M) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - Notebooks"
but nothing happened ..
In the first time when I installed the windows the camera was working but now it's not !!
My Laptop is : ThinkPad Edge E530
My OS is : Windows 7 32-bot
I've problem with my notebook. After clean installation of win7 64bit, installation of all drivers with lenovo update and windows update is the hibernation option behaving in strange way.
The screen turns black but the computer is still working and when I start moving with mouse it shows me the login screen. So basically it just logs me off.
I tried to instal newest drivers of Chipset, Graphical card, Bios.... the option in cmd: powercfg -h is turned on... nothing worked. I also updated powr manager soft and driver.
Yesterday my fingerprint reader worked correctly, but today I turned on my computer and I could not log in using my fingerprint reader. Then I looked to device manager and there was an unkown device. So I tried to reinstall fingerprint drivers but even though it still does not work and in device manager is "unknown device". How to make it work? I tried to install this driver: [URL] ..... I use Win7 64bit.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an E420S and over the past 2 days I've noticed that the fingerprint reader will suddenly get HOT, rapidly. So hot that I've got a couple red burns on my palm.
I'm out of warranty, so all I can think of is uninstalling the drivers for the fingerprint reader, but I can't find them in the device manager.
I have another question regarding the E440 specifically. The technical spec sheet says optional fingerprint reader, but I don't get that option on any of the customizations for this laptop. Is it really no longer an option?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated to Firefox 3.5 today and much to my dismay it has disabled the add-on for my fingerprint reader to log into things in Firefox on my XPS M1530.
Anyone have any idea on a workaround or an updated add-on?
after being annoyed with sony not having an updated upek security suite software I found a compatible version that works with firefox 3. here is the url to the file

After you install it, it will ask you if you want to install the firefox patch.
Now my fingerprint reader works perfectly with firefox 3.
I am using an X1 Carbon (2014 Gen). Win 7 - 64 bit pre installed. Latest finger print manager pro software from lenovo 8.01.07. Tried everything and all possible combinations on the fingerprint software. But can't start my machine by swiping. The reader works perfect otherwise. I can pass bios log on to windows etc. But I still have to go through the power on button. I observe that in the new software (unlike in the earlier ones) there are no start on buttons to be clicked above the fingerprints. how to bypass pressing the power on button and start the machine directly by swiping the enrolled finger?

Validity fingerprint sensor - how to replace power-on password with fingerprint?
new fingerprint manager for thinkpads with VALIDITY reader has only fingerpint enrolment capabilities and cant find any optio to use fingerprint instead of power-on password or HDD-password thinkpad e431 ....
I have a new W510 but I cannot get the fingerprint reader working for Windows logon. I have the Lenovo fingerprint software installed. It can enroll my fingerprint with ease, which also shows that the reader works. I have turned on the option "use fingerprint scan instead of password when logging into windows". When I restart Windows, I see a fingerprint logon option, but it still defaults to CTRL+ALT+DELETE. When I pick the fingerprint option and scan my fingerprint, the lght blinks twice and nothing happens. I know from my old W510 that I should be seeing a Lenovo Fingerprint icon on the logon screen, but I just cannot get that to display. What have I missed?
The virtual agent was no support - it gives me a setting that doesn't exist, tells me to reboot, tells me that the first time I log in I will need both fingerprint and password, but afterwards it only needs fingerprint.
I've got an x240 with bios enabled fingerprint and the latest fingerprint driver/utlity installed, a fingerprint registered and all the options checked for fingerprint to be integrated and boot.
When the laptop is powered off the fingerprint swipe doesn't boot the machine, no LED on it, it's dead. How do I make fingerprint power on work? When the laptop is in sleep mode the fingerprint swipe doesn't boot the machine, no LED on it, it's dead. How do I make fingerprint resume from standby work? When win7 boots and it's at the CTRL+ALT+DEL login screen the fingerprint LED is green, a fingerprint swipe does nothing. How do I get single sign on to work?Only when I manually hit CTRL+ALT+DEL will the Fingerprint graphic then show on screen, at that point the swipe works. How do get the fingerprint to log me in without any manual intervention? The x201 I had previously did all this without an issue.
For whatever reason my ringerprint reader stopped working. I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver, software and done just about everything I can find online.
In the device manager it usually shows up, but sometimes doesnt. In the control panel>biometric devices, it shows up less often, usually only after i've clicked "Scan for hardware changes."
I currently have a thinkpad T400 2767 and up until a few weeks ago it was working fine, but then I got a device not recognised error in windows and the fingerprint reader stopped working. I rebooted and it was gone. Not in device manager or even in BIOS options.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed the most recent ThinkVantage Password Manager software yesterday through the Lenovo Solution Software. It is version 4.70.20. Today, when I booted my computer, my fingerprint reader is no longer working (it worked yesterday before the installation and all day yesterday after the installation). I cannot find a fingerprint reader in Device Manager, but there is one "Unknown USB Device (device Descriptor Request Failed)" which is listed as not working in device manager.
I feel like the software update killed the fingerprint driver as it is no longer available in any application (windows logon, website logon, etc.).
I've installed no other software recently and have uninstalled and reinstalled both the ThinkVantage Password Manager and Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro (version 8.01.26(x64) today to try to resolve the issue.
I am experiencing issues with my touchpad on my Thinkpad Edge AMD with 4 GB Ram.
Sometimes the touchpad will work and sometimes it will not respond. When I restart the computer, it will work but not for long. I have the up-to-date drivers which came with the machine. I just received my machine 2 days ago.
I have recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540, with Windows 7 installed. I'm trying to use the integrated camera with Skype, but I can record no picture. When I try to install the Integrated Camera Driver from Lenovo Support, [UR], the setup always fails with Engrish error messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bought my new E540 some days ago. My keyboard is Norwegian so there is a key called AltGr available which is used as a combinational key similar to shift. when I just press the key related to backslash ( it's '+') it works fine but when I want to type backslash (it's AltGr and '+' together) it does not work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E530. Occasionally I will have the following icon pop up on my screen and refuse to go away: A reverse google image search told me this is the logo for the "thinklight", which as far as I know is not actually equipped on this model. As a side note, I have seen this happen on a friend's E530 as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Thinkpad e530 with the 1tb+16 or so ssd cache harddrive. I decieded i wanted a ssd instead, so I bought a Samsung SSD 840 Series. - but since I removed the old 1tb harddrive and installed the ssd, I cant get it to boot. In bios I changed the boot priority so it looks like this when I get to the boot menu:
ATA HDD0: Samsung SSD 840 Series
Windows Boot Manager
Windows Boot manager
ATAPI CD0: PLDS DVD-RW DS8A8SH
ATA HDD2: SanDisk SSD U100 16 gb
PCI LAN
When I press enter on the SSD, nothing happens. When i press enter on the DVD, the screen goes black and then back to boot menu (the DVD is a installation for windows 7 of my own. There were any CDs with the lenovo) When I press enter on the first Windows boot manager, screen goes black and then back to boot menu. When I press enter on the second windows boot manager it give the error message with the status: 0xc0000225 (something with newly change of hardware or software). Its the same message when i press on the HDD2.
How can I get it to boot up so i can boot the DVD so I can install windows on my SSD?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated my Thinkpad with windows 8.1. But the wifi driver doesn't work correctly. After the installation the device was diasabled with code 10. I searched for a new driver and found one from Realtek for win 8. After this installation and the reboot, the wifi works fine. Restarting the notebook again, the device was disabled again. I tried a lot of different drivers - it's always the same: After the first installation and reboot it works, after the second boot, the device is disabled again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have E530 with 1TB disk and 16GB mSSD disk, which is partioned in 2 partitions. Now, I suspect Express Cache is using it somtimes, but I never see any usage from it in Task Manager. Task Manager Screengrab. However, sometimes Express Cache goes nuts on my HD, doing the opposite of what it is supposed to be doing Resource Monitor Showing Express Cache thrashing my HD
However, it seems to be doing something, sometime. I suspect it is from rebooting, but I rarely reboot my computer, so I'm not gaining much from it. I just formatted that mSATA drive and perhaps put the windows swap file and perhaps other cache folders there? I always feel that the disk I/O is the bottleneck of this computer, it feels slow when accessing the disk.
My E530's battery drains 5% per day after power off. I searched online and somebody else complained about similar issue on his Y-series laptop. His problem was solved by plugging off power cord before turning off the laptop. Lenovo also updated BIOS regarding this issue for his model after then.
Yesterday I tried his way and the issue was gone too. Can Lenovo update BIOS regarding this issue?
I also find the power manage scheme doesn't work. It always charges the battery from 96% to 100% in whatever scheme I chose. I tried to uninstall the driver and downgrade the power manager, still doesn't work. I didn't try reinstall the system because it is too time consuming. Does it matter I installed win7 in my SSD?
I bought 2 of these in oct 2011 for my twins going to college. My daughters has had no problems. The other one died in may 2012 and was repaired under warranty. It died again in November 2012. I was able to get it running by removing the battery and disconnecting the cmos battery and letting it sit for a while.
It happened again, and this time I can't revive it. I want to add that I think there was something wrong when we got it back from repair. The battery icon for the Lenovo power management did not work, but the windows one did. In hindsight I think this had something to do with nvram problem I have since heard so much about.
I have a Thinkpad E530 which has a 1366x768 display panel. Unfortunately, This resolution began to be low for my usage (some applications don't even enter the screen entirely!), so I'm searching for a higher resolution panel (like 1600x900 or 1920x1080). Could this be made or the new screen wouldn't work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn they old keyboard, there was a dedicated green indicatory light on the key itself, which is missing on the keyboard. Now, I realize that the new keyboard affects all thinkpads alike, but the reason I'm posting this here is because my Thinkpad Edge (E530) has a dedicated numpad, thereby making me use the numlock much more often
I am aware of the often-suggested windows 7 software-sided fix: screen resolution > advanced settings > on screen display
However, the issue with this is that is that it groups the caps lock and numlock together. What if I want the numlock to be default on and NOT shown on-screen, but still wanted to be reminded on-screen if I [accidentally] have the caps lock on?
Is there a solution to this or is this another problem that Lenovo overlooked when upgrading the keyboard?
