should I download it from windows update site? I dont know the difference between two drivers from HP site and windows update. from hp site there is no such new driver for nvidia and I tried the driver from the windows update it caused forever load after vista login so i uninstalled and went back to old HP's own old nvidia driver so it speeds up.

I visited nVidia's website to see whether they had an update; they had none. So, I'm wondering whether I should get this update suggested by Windows Update or ignore it.
I have a SONY VIAO VGN-SZ433N_B. I'm constantly reminded that there are new updates for my lap top, but when I try to install I am told 'VAIO Update 4.0 is required. VAIO Update (Ver. 4.0 and above) is required on your VAIO Notebook.'
So I installed Sony Update 4.0.0.08240 but still it isnt recognised. I have even tried to uninstall the previous Update module and then re install without success. I keep getting the same message, indicating that the Viao Update 4 I have isnt being recognised.
Windows Update just offered me a new IDT High Definition Audio Driver for my dv5t. I decided not to install it yet. Has anybody tried it? What version is it?

Recently done a clean Vista install and installed "NVIDIA chipset drivers" from Acer support site. It's on a 9301AWSmi
I now get as optional updates in Windows, two Nvidia updates.
1. NVidia NForce Networking Controller (May 2009 published)
2. NVidia NForce Hyper transport bridge driver update (Oct 2008 published)
Is it wise to accept these or not... I know a lot say never accept driver updates via Windows.

On my new HP 2760p the new Graphics Driver on HP drivers site won't install.I have driver Graphics Intel (R) HD Graphics version 9.17.10.2963 installed and would like to update to the newest version 15.28.13.64.2963. Have tried several times, re-downloaded the new version (sp61863.exe) but it goes part-way through installation and suddenly informs me that it now will install the 9.17.10.2963 version. It also keeps showing up as this version being the installed driver. Why can't I get the 15 .. version to install?

But, when I try to install the NVIDIA driver, it says " Install intel ®drivers first"....
The new driver 195.62 gives me BSODing upon just logging in to my machine.
After first reboot upon installing the driver, it worked fine for a few minutes and then BSOD'd while watching a flash video. It then BSODs whenever I try to log back in to the machine. I've since uninstalled the driver through safe mode.
I have a HP HDX 16, Nvidia 130m, 2.1ghz C2D, Windows 7 64bit.
I did a clean install of the driver (ie. uninstalling through control panel, going into safe mode and using driver sweeper, then installing again through normal mode).
In order to gain CUDA support for my nvidia 8400m gs video card, I downloaded the latest notebook driver from Nvidia website directly and installed it on my HP 2500t custom order laptop recently, so far, I have experienced frequent system hang, sudden blue screen of death, lost of display and system overheating. I am considering reverting back to HP stock video which is a bit old and has no support for CUDA.

i have HP DV 2700 with nvidia 8400m gs. the laptop has 2 graphics chips intel gm965 chipset with gma3100 and 8400m gs. is it possible to switch between the two. i am having problems with drivers. i am not able to install latest drivers from nvidia site. it doesnt show on rivatuner saying nvidia driver not detected. the driver from hp works but its very old 176.xx. so is there a way out to install new driver and switch between graphics. i searched intel site but did nt find any thing related to this problem.The bios doesnt have any option like the desktop pc s have. View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the newest driver for the nvidia 8600..Which is like a year old now..Sometimes I would get the old blue screen crash and dump when viewing certain dvds..So I checked nvidia's website and got this driver and now I can't even watch dvds in the windows media player 11..I like to use it and other players work like the built in Quickplay..
I thought it was the codec but I am not sure what to do..I have tried a couple things installing codec packages and what nOT..Downloaded the new Divx 7 package and it gave me back avi and some files will now play..But some are s till a green blank...Also the dvd playback won't even do that or play sound..It kinda starts and everything freezes and its just black..The WMP locks up and becomes un responsive...Have shut it down and start over..I was thinking of going back to the old nvidia driver that I had but now sure how to do this..

Windows Update showed a new update to the graphics driver for the 965 which applies to my SZ and whatever other model uses the 965. It seems to have fixed the "glitchy" aero border.

I recently bought a 500GB/7200 RPM hard drive to my laptop and I decided to install Windows RC 64 bit. Before doing the hard drive update, I had installed the 7 RC 32 bit since it came out.
Now, I can't recall when I had the 7 RC 32bit that the laptop's fan was running on full blast after sleep/stand-by. It is also loud when you start-up the computer from a restart or after a shut-down. The fan speeds down to a quiet speed/rpm after...I'd say 2-3 minutes.
I installed everything listed on HP's website for my laptop (drivers and such after installing 7 RC 64bit):

I noticed that the Nvidia driver on HP's website was not a recent one, so I hopped on Nvidia's website to get a newer driver instead (186.03 I believe).
I have my laptop set to Power saving's mode and I only bump it to Balanced when I'm doing something heavy (like iTunes encoding, etc).
I did check to see if maybe my anti-virus program that's installed (avast...AVG didn't install when I went to 64) was doing scans or such, but it isn't. Well, actually I take that back...does avast do a very slow/quiet scan in the background? I see the HDD status light blinks steady, but when I pause avast, there is not steady blinking.
I have a weird behavior of my brand new HP HDX18 (running Windows Vista 64 bit).
The Laptop does not play BluRay DVDs any more. It only worked two times. I can access the BluRay file system so I assume that the BluRay drive is working. Then trying to watch the movie with either HP MediaSmart or Windows Media Center, both programs hang and need to be stopped via Task Manager.
HP support recommended a video driver update - but...
When I try to install the recommended update of the display driver from the HP HDX18 support site, it installs and the laptop remains working (I hear sounds when receiving new emails or when wiping my finger on the finger print sensor), but the result is simply a black screen. Same thing when using the nvidia beta drivers for notebook chips.
I tried to first switch to Standard VGA, then removing the old nvidia package, then installing the new driver. Same result: A black screen.
All I can do is doing a system recovery to get a working display again.
I did the BIOS update that I downloaded from the HP site as well. I currently have the Spyder software for screen calibration running.
HP support also recommended a "hard reset" of my windows installation, but since I just finished the complete installation of all programs I need, this is not what I really want.
Yesterday my HP Support Assistant flagged me about two updates for my system. Â Â

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy daughter's Acer is 2.5 years old and it's running Windows 7. She recently rebooted it last week for a Windows Update and since then it starts up but hangs, with the hard drive light blinking slowly. I ran it in Safe Mode and it gets through CLASSPNP.SYS then hangs. According to articles this is usually a hardware problem. The only option I have with this OS is to bring up the Command Prompt. I've tried System File Checker - no go. System Repair comes back with unknown error and what looks like a bad Driver.

I was able to build a new partition (100+GB) and do a clean install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate w/ SP1. This went through fine, though I would have to load the Acer drivers for the network card, etc. to finalize it. The point here is that this shows that the hard drive isn't the issue.

My fear is that Windows installed either some sort of driver or other update that has now caused the current OS on her laptop to be unusable. I went to do a System Restore and the only restore point it had was the Critical Update that she rebooted to on 2/13. Trying to roll back to that Restore Point didn't work.
Since updating the firmware on my LG drive (GSA-T50L) on every restart I get a message that Windows (Vista Home Basic) cannot install the driver. I click the second option, which is to "remind me later." I have to do this every time I boot up. The CD ROM is actually working OK as far as I can tell, but I'm still getting the error message. Device Manager doesn't list any driver, and trying to update it through device manager is unsuccessful.
I'm using firmware rev. SC05. I wondered if downgrading back to SC04 would cure the problem, but after hundreds of searches I cannot find the firmware anywhere on the Internet. Why it's so rare, I have no idea.
Maybe the problem has been caused by myself -- I deleted the drivers folder from the recovery partition some time ago to gain a couple of GB of drive space. However, I was under the impression that the CDROM uses Windows' own driver, so maybe this isn't the problem? I'm absolutely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
FWIW, I have recovery discs, only I'm unsure about using them because I don't want to wipe the entire system and start from scratch. If it's possible to restore only the missing drivers folder from the recovery partition this might be a good start.
I see that Dell has added Windows 7 drivers (32 and 64 bit) to the E6400 downloads.

Has anyone had their 1420 (or other machine) fail for having a defective GPU? What did dell do to you? Anyone argue for an extended warranty? My warranty is almost up and I am not sure what to do.
My system is still running ok, but I do get mysterious wireless 'fails' from time to time.
There's one "optonal" update on Windows Update which I haven't installed yet.
