Can increase anything on my laptop to play this game faster?
I've got a fairly new T440s for which I've set up fingerpringt reading. I was wondering if there'd be an (easy) way to change the picture displayed on the welcome/login screen. I'm not talking about the background, but the icon in the middle that is currently a picture of a fingerprint.  I looked around at other threads and they either referred to editing .dll files (above my head a bit) or some picture in "C:Program FilesThinkVantage Fingerprint Software" which is not a directory on my machine. I'm running the latest version of Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro, and nothing in the Fingerprint Manager Pro program files looked persipacious.
You can't Change your Graphics card, is there any graphics card that i can use through the PCI express slot, or the the expansion port? the laptop is hp pavillion dv2000 (exactly: dv2132ea) since i don't want to go through the hassle of changing my laptop. I just need a better vga card
About a week ago I had to do a full restore from the restoration discs HP had sent me, something was causing Windows Explorer to be incredibly unstable and I couldnt even make a set of backup discs...
BUT thats not the problem, after the installation, I realized that my laptop no longer detects the built it fingerprint reader and memory card slots... I figured, ok maybe I just need to go back and manually install the drivers... So I did from the HP website and still nothing worked... So I contacted HP support and naturally they gave me the links to the exact same pages I got the drivers off of, then they had me update my BIOS... still nothing... then they had me reinstall my fingerprint reader software... Still nothing... So then they told me to just send it into them under warrenty to have it fixed, except I'm a full time student and I depend on my laptop.
My brother just bought an Acer Aspire 3680.He purchased 1 gig of DDR2 Memory from Crucial. When we get to the desktop the screen is fine at first then the screen goes off and back on with 8 bit display. 512 DDR2 came in the machine. Crucial site said he could mix memory sizes. I tried it with the 1 gig stick by itself in case the mixed memory was the problem. Same thing..I've tried 2 sticks of 512...same thing. I've tried 2 sticks of 1 gig each..same problem. This laptop won't allow any upgrade at all. Will only run correctly with (1) 512 stick. I've never seen this problem before. I've installed many memory sticks in computers. This is a first for me. What could be causing this?? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW. the computer shows the upgrade amount of memory but the display color keeps changing to 8 Bit! I change it back to 32 and it reverts back after a few moments to 8 Bit. I went to Acer and installed an updated driver for the Intel Graphics card thinking the driver would help. I haven't installed a bios update yet. Called Acer and they said to return it for repair.
I was using my inspiron 1545 the other night and it was charging the battery, then i heard a pop from the left hand side of the keyboard. At this point i noticed that the battery icon no longer had the plug icon on top showing it was charging. I then looked at my power adapter and noticed the blue light was not on on the brick.
Finding this I unplugged the brick and then plugged it back in..POP from the laptop again....and the blue light on the brick went off again. This happens everytime.
So I am guessing there is something wrong in the laptop and the brick turns off maybe activating its short circuit mode protect. Obviously, this means I can not charge the battery.
If i remove the battery and try to run it on mains adapter it POPs as soon as you plug it in and the laptop won;t boot as it has no power...
An unknown icon appears on my desktop named " Thumbs.db ". It appears on my desktop screen as well as in  some files and folders. Whenever I  delete that icon, it goes for some time but again comes back on the desktop. And sometimes after deleting the file the desktop turns completely blank with purple background and again comes back to normal in few seconds.  My hp product no. is : C9M34PA#ACJ  The full model no. is : Hp pavilion notebook g6-2301AX Operating System : Windows 8.1 Single Language 64-bit  Â
Recently I got a wireless router HUAWEI EchoLife HG520s Home Gateway installed by my Internet provider. My HP dv8320us laptop has an Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, but I can't get connected to my wireless network . The blue light of the wireless connection is on (blue), but I can't view other wireless networks to connect .
I get a red X over the internet icon and my router will no longer recognize any networks. I called my ISP and the manufactuer of my Belkin router. So I went out and rought a brand new Net Gear router. Still not working. I called Net Gear and they think it's my wireless card?  Is there a way to determine for sure if its a hardware problem? Maybe I need to download a driver?  Is there a wireless switch on my laptop? Do I need to configure my new router? I'm hoping to use my Belkin router if it's just a driver problem so I can take back the new router and get my money back.
Whenever I play a game, sooner or later, the computer just promplty shuts down. The part of the computer which holds the graphics card is then generally very very hot, which leads me to guess that this is the problem. Note that it sometimes can run for several hours without complications, but other times it wont even take half an hour. It's getting very frustrating and this combined with a lot of other issues makes it an altogether very unpleasent experience using HP.
I have updated the bios, but not changed anything in it - no overclocking or anything.
I bought a dv9730nr about a year and a half ago and never had any problems with it until a week ago. I was playing PES 2010 and suddenly, after the menu screen the screen went to black, everything froze and this weird "color" barcode appeared on top of the screen. I freaked out and rebooted the laptop, but it didn't even show the bootsplash and the "barcode" still appeared on top of the pitch black screen... after a couple of tries, I could get it to show the bootsplash and actually managed to system-restore it. Then it crashed again and I had to repeat the process.
When I actually got it working, I tested it again with a different game, and this time it gave me the nvlddmkm driver error and a BSOD. After the reboot, there was this ugly barcode again, so I had to repeat the "process" (rebooting time and time again until bootsplash appeared). Though it worked for a couple of days, yesterday I tried to watch a video and it froze, no nvlddmkm error, just the black screen and the color barcode. It took me hours to get around that and when I thought everything was fine (as fine as things could be, anyway), surfing the net and watching some images... bam, the screen went to black and I had to force a shutdown. Again, ugly barcode on top after I rebooted... but this time I have been trying since yesterday to get around it and do a system restore but to no avail - every single time I reboot, there's this black screen with those vertical color lines...........
i read the manual, but didn't find any way to change the video card. let me know if this is possible, i'd like to change to more powerful video card. right now, mine is setup with nvidia quadro 160m.
I have an Hp Pavilion Enternainment PC (HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC), 64bit, Windows 7, Service Pack 1.  The pc is integrated with a  HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station and a HP 2509m flat screen monitor.  Unless I have turned the volume completely off, I continually get a volume icon (showing the current volume setting) intermittently displaying in the center of the flat screen monitor.  I am unable to move it to any other location on the flat screen display or to the pc monitor.
Anyone use Sony's Memory Stick Pro in the card reader? Seems too small, I assume I need an adapter of some sort? Just hoping someone can confirm with a pic.
everything is great till now but i was checking to video card memory and its only showing 64MB ,, its should be 224 according to the specs "i know its 64MB dedicated memory"
i took a look to the BOIS and didn't find any option the increase the memory ,,, so what i have to do to take the full 224MB
The last days I have a problem with my HDD and it needs changing. The model of my notebook is HP Pavilion dv6542ev. My problem is that I don't know what type of HDDs I can get. A friend of mine has another model and I can take his. His model is HP Pavilion dv9542ev. Can I use it?
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
My memory card reader was fine, however after reinstalling Vista Ultimate it won't work.
It shows up as "Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller" in Device Manager. However I've tried multiple SD cards and it just won't recognize that anything has been inserted. The computer doesn't pause or show any indication that it's doing something when I insert a memory card.
I have a Ferrari 4006WLMi with Windows Vista Ultimate.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers several times already. I have also upgraded to the latest BIOS
I need to use a 4GB SDHC card as RAM via Readyboost...
I am having an issue with my sd card slot. Â my computer will not recognize that a memory card has been inserted. Â I bought this computer refurbished so there is a chance the software driver may not be here at all to patch.
