i just got my tx2500z and of course, i reformatted to a fresh install of windows. however, i forgot to make a backup copy of the hp wireless assistant which allows you to turn of wireless or bluetooth independently. i tried the install that came with another hp laptop but i ended up getting bsod's so i'm asking if anyone who has the same model could provide me with this software that came from the tx2500z compatible for 64-bit.
I want to install Windows 7, but the partition manager will only let me shrink my C partition by about 10 gigs - Windows 7 needs 16 gigs. HP_RECOVERY is another 10 gigs, and I'd like to delete it, but I don't know what it's being used for.
I saw someone say "burn backup discs, and then you're okay to get rid of HP_RECOVERY". I tried to burn backup discs using HP Recovery Manager -> Recovery Disc Creation. However, when I try to do this, I get the error "This computer does not have a drive capable of creating CDs or DVDs. Contact HP support." What a nightmare. I bought this tablet PC in January and I've barely used it at all because of how incredibly slow it is, even after removing the bloatware. I was told that Windows 7 would be faster, hence my trying to install it.
I do have the Application and Driver Recovery CD, and the 2 System Recovery DVDs from HP -I managed to have them send these to me. Are these the equivalent of what I'd end up with if my attempt to create discs with HP's Recovery Disc Creation would have been?
I just bought an HP Pavilion tx2500z and it was working for last week, when I installed some multi language dictionary that most probably was not compatible with vista and thighs went wrong, I was using the tablet mode so did not recognize that in a day later I found out the keyboard is no responding at all, even the audio buttons and the touch pad button are not, so I tried to system restore to previous date and then to first date but to no avail so I returned the laptop to factory default but still not working, is there a button or combination that inactivates the keyboard or it is fault in hardware
When I turn on the power for computer there's a beeping noise coming from the hard drive I think and this message comes up in blue letters with a black background
" Boot Device Not Found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk.
Hard Drisk (XXX)
F2 System Diagnostics
When I run the system diagnostics for the Hard Disk Test, it says: "Hard Disk Test Failed Hard disk not exist"
What do I do? I went to the website but its suggesting that I basically may have to do a system recovery to the factory installed state...I have a lot of stuff I don't want to lose.
I also tried removing the hard drive and putting it back in, that didn't help either.
I called tech support and I still have my warrranty so I will be getting a Hp box to put my tablet in within a few days. But they told me I would most likely lose all the data I have saved.
Then I used a liveCD in hopes of backing up my harddrive but the liveCD won't even boot..unless im doing it wrong...( burn iso to CD, then load CD into laptop, and press f10? and/or turn on computer with CD inserted in and then let it load if it wants to?)
i just received this brand new and when i press the volume up and down quicklaunch buttons .. the volume does go up and down but there is no onscreen notification of this ... if i scroll mouse over to the bell on the taskbar i do see that the volume numbers did increase or decrese...so i know the buttons are working ... even when i press the mute button.. i see the icon show that it is muted...
should this tablet have an onscreen popup notifcation when u raise and lower the volume...?
i contacted HP and they told me to do a system restore... after i tried to update my quicklaunch application and it still had no effect...
i want to make sure something is wrong with my tablet before i perform this system recovery...
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (64-Bit) (problem is also there with Windows 7)
I sometimes try to connect to a network, then the wireless led suddenly orange although Wireless is Enabled. My friend who has an XP system can connect to that network in the cafe just fine so does everybody else, but on my system, it says connecting, then the icon turns orange as if there was no wirelesss card installed.
I am using the Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN v12.2.0.11 Driver which was installed through Windows Update along with HP Wireless Assistant v3.50.2.1
Now I have an orange icon for wireless, although wireless is enabled in both device manager and through the touch key.
the icon will turn blue if I restart and wireless access will be restored, but I will lose it again if I try to connect to a wireless network.
I have got Notebook Compaq Presario.. I cant connect to the internet using the wireless connection.. the reason is that i accidentally did some operations, and cannot switch on the light on the front panel of the notebook.. it does not work, i mean the light of the wireless connection button does not light.... I turned off something...
Do I need this program to run on start-up? Does it do anything more than state whether the wireless is on/off? Would I be able to turn on the Wireless Network Card if the program is not running? If I do turn it off for start-up, I will still be able to access it in the Control Panel if need be, right?
I have an HP dv6809 and it has a wireless G connection, the rest of my network is wireless N. Could anybody point me in the right direction for a new N adapter that will be compatible with the notebook?
I am having a problem with wireless network, the signal is very weak even the laptop is next to wireless router.
If I move my laptop 5 meter away from wireless router then my laptop could not detect any wireless network. I have updated wireless driver and update the bios.. no luck!
My Wireless card is: 414376-002 (Broadcom 802.11b/g Mini-PCI Express Card)
There is only one thin cable connected to wireless Mini-PCI Express Card.. is that normal?
I used mujjuman's stickied guide to installing windows xp on a HP dv6700 and everything went perfectly except I can't connect to any wireless connections. The driver I'm sure is the right one and I can see available networks to connect to but it never can connect.
There is always an error saying something along the lines of "The wireless connection is out of range or too low a signal" but this is when I have the computer right next to the router and the windows wireless manager shows it as having full signal.
i try to access to internet and set to ON the button on my HP portable notebook Pavlion but when i turn on the led NOT change from yellow to BLU!

I try to restore the system to an all day, but none ! i resinstall from secrete partiotion HP the Software HP and all the HP wireless drivers .... but NONE !......
I have a HP pavillion DV 6000 laptop. The wireless on my laptop is not turning on. It is not the same problem the network card disappearing. I can see the card in device manager. I have tried installing it and also enabling and disabling it. It says its enabled but disconnected. Tried safe mode with N/w as well but nothing is working for me. Haven't made any changes to the software.
seems like my interal wifi is dying... signal fades significantly whenever I go two stories up my house. My newer laptop is fine. Is there a compatible 802.11N PCI card for this laptop? Is the internal card a PCI or mini PCI? Also, I tried using my old USB wireless adapter, but it cant detect my router. It detects my neighbours, but not mine...weird.
I have a mystery that I hope someone can help with. My dv9000 (dv9308nr) won't connect with my daughter's NETGEAR wireless router. Specifically the router is a NETGEAR WPNT 834. My computer works great with my Motorola wireless router. It also works great with my mothers Linksys wireless router and the wireless router at work. Don't know the brand of the router at work. I've verified multiple times the network key, etc. My daughter's Apple Macbook with the same key works properly.
i know nothing about the ins and outs of wireless connection. i picked up a linksys wrt54g when i got my first laptop around 4 years ago. it was plug and play for the most part as i remember it and it's given me no issues. i've only started reading into an upgrade as i've heard the N (looking into the WRT160N) can give much more impressive transfer rates. just wanted to know if the 1170us has both options built in, and if not, what i'd need to accomplish an N connection.
I bought a dv1660se on ebay and the wireless card that was in it (Broadcom) won't detect any networks. So I bought another wireless card (Intel 3945abg) and it gives me code 10 - device cannot start. I worked on that for a month and couldn't get it working so I bought another one thinking it was the card, this time it was the part number that hp used for the original card that should have been in the laptop. So that one comes in the mail (intel 3945abg also), I put it in and it gives me code 10 also. I have no idea what the problem is but I do know that there is not really a point to having a laptop without wireless.
About a week ago, I booted my computer to find that the led light that indicates activity on the wireless didn't turn blue, and of course, there was not a wireless connection nor a way to set up one. I checked the device manager and found no problems, then checked out the HP Wireless Assistant. Puzzlingly, the assistant reported the wireless as on and without any problem, so I fired the command line unity (wireless.exe). It adviced to make sure that the switch of the wireless was on, and that the wireless was activated in the BIOS, so I rebooted and pressed f10. Nowehre in the BIOS could I find any kind of option about the wireless, so I just rebooted normally, and lo, the wireless was back. I thought that I had unadvertedly fixed it in the BIOS and let it be.
Fast forward a few days, I got the same problem when I booted up the ol' laptop, so I just rebooted, entered the BIOS again, and rebooted back. This time it didn't work out so I just rebooted the computer twice, and it was fixed. Since my job relies so much on the internet, I decided just to suspend my machine after use instead shutting it down, to avoid a new booting up into wirlessness; but yesterday, when I woke it back from suspension, the wireless was dead again! It took me no less than 7 reboots to make it start up again. Now I'm really paranoid that next time it happens, there will be no return, so Im keeping the computer on, 24/7 until I get some help,
The computer is a Pavilion Entertainment PC Special Edition with an AMD Turion 64x2, 2 Gbs of RAM and Windows XP. I've had it for one year and a half without trouble until now.
I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop. with the intel WIFI 5100AGN card. I could get speeds to the max in my house which is about 260 KB/s. Now my sister got a DV6-1334ca this christmas, and ever since then my speeds have gone down to 20KB/s while she gets the rest of the given bandwidth. Any ideas why or how to adjust it so i can get half the speed? we both have the same wireless card, and the router is a Linksys WRT54GC. any type of tweak i can do on this router or a program? i have a WIFI 5100AGN card and she has a 1000AGN card
sometimes when i plug in, the wireless disables itself. hp wireless helper app tells me that it is disabled using the button... but the button is on. and then immediately when i unplug the laptop and run on battery, the wireless turns on and connects, and the wireless light on the switch is blue.
i tried disabling and enabling the wireless network adapter, it didnt work. i tried turning the switch on/off manually while plugged in, it doesnt work.
also, i noticed that the LED for the "power on" near the wireless switch (next to "charging" light and "HDD access" light is very dim or off, while the laptop is on. I think it might be related.
So my dv6000 has finally suffered the death of the wireless adapter. I suppose the motherboard is next to go. It is beyond even the extended warranty for this problem by a couple of months.
Should I try to get HP to fix it under the extended warranty, or should I just forget it?
In either case I'll never buy another HP computer again.
Wireless G and Wireless N. What is the difference? I know that N supports faster speeds and have heard that it's likely going to become more of a standard in the future. My question is, will it work like any other wireless device? I don't want to get it and find out it needs some sort of special connection.
Also, graphics cards. I see a whole lot of debate about this here, and not really a 100% clear answer to anything. I'll be using Photoshop and other digital art programs, and running Windows 7. I don't do serious computer gaming, and the most 3D-intensive game I might ever run would be something like the Sims- and that's an "if".
Would dedicated graphics have any significant advantage for me? I've been configuring with the Intel, but I don't want to sell myself short and regret it later, especially with something that can't be changed.
On the other hand, it's also important to me to have a cool-running computer, so if the added heat and power consumption will outweigh the benefits it'll probably be a deal breaker.
i just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my lappy, i have a couple things that can't find the driver .. but my main problem is the wireless, it's installed and windows see it, but can't see any network, because it says it's turn off ..?
When i press the Wireless button on the notebook it doesn't come on ..
i have a DV2000 (DV2020CA) and i noticed the wireless was not so good (ie weakest signal strengths), a quick google and i found out the issue was the card... so i pulled one out of my ASUS F3SV (WM3945ABG) and i put it in THANKFULLY, there was no 104 error, but i cant turn the wireless on anymore. the actual physical switch that turns on the wireless doesn't turn blue it just stays orange...
I am using HP 2530P at home and connect to wireless access point for accessing the internet services. Recently, I found my wireless connection icon in the system tray are shown incorrecly. actually the wireless controller card is conencting to the wireless router and no problem to connect to the external network (Internet), but the connection icon in system tray indicate the connection is disconnected like below. I am no sure it is a window vista problem or my HP notebook problem.
when using vista my wireless will just stop working after a couple hours of use.
Basically it will just disconnect me from what ever router I'm using, and I will be unable to reconnect until I restart the pc.
The weird thing is that when using Ubuntu on the same laptop, I never have this problem.
So based on this, I'm guessing that it isn't a problem with the actual wireless card, rather some problem with the drivers; but that's just me making an educated guess.
On my DV8000 I cannot get the Intel Wireless to connect to my router at home, which confuses me because my wife can connect to it just fine, except she's using a broadcom chip. My router at work is the exact same model and setup as the one I have at home and I have no problems connection to it.
I have a HP dv6-1133ea (in my sig). It has the broadcom wireless card. It is running windows 7 64 bit.
Just recently the wireless has started acting up. It can see my home network fine but just won't connect properly saying "no network connectivity" etc. I know that the network is fine as my partner's vaio (and incidentally my old Toshiba A30 that I am using to write this post) can connect fine.
I have tried re-installing the vista 64 driver from HP's website but that makes no difference. Turning the wireless on and off or restarting also doesn't change things. I have also tried re-adding the network key but that did nothing too.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what to do?
