I have a HP pavillion DV 6000 laptop. The wireless on my laptop is not turning on. It is not the same problem the network card disappearing. I can see the card in device manager. I have tried installing it and also enabling and disabling it. It says its enabled but disconnected. Tried safe mode with N/w as well but nothing is working for me. Haven't made any changes to the software.
View 13 Repliesi have a DV2000 (DV2020CA) and i noticed the wireless was not so good (ie weakest signal strengths), a quick google and i found out the issue was the card... so i pulled one out of my ASUS F3SV (WM3945ABG) and i put it in THANKFULLY, there was no 104 error, but i cant turn the wireless on anymore. the actual physical switch that turns on the wireless doesn't turn blue it just stays orange...
View 4 Replies View RelatedIve downloaded and gamed and browsed all at the same time before...But for some reason today my wireless adapter keeps turning itself off...And no Im not accidentally hitting the switch..I'll even toggle the switch off and back on and it still says my wireless adapter is off..Its really strange..And when I troubleshoot it says network adapter is off, check switch..the switch is on..?This keeps happening..A reboot fixes it or if I disable the network adapter, and then re-enable it..

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy mute button at the top of my computer functions, but does not change color when i mute or unmute something i'm watching or listening to. it does however make a popping noise and change color at what seems like random, just when clicking through websites. it will change color and making this popping noise but it won't actually mute. the color changing is not really an issue for me it's just the random "pop" sound i get that can get very annoying and have no idea how to get it running again properly. it's been like this for several weeks and can't trace it back to anything i've done around that time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago I got my dv5t with the hybrid tv tuner option. Its been one problem after another. HP had me do a system recovery today (ugh) because the quick play tv software was not responding. This was after trying other things such as updating drivers and flashing the bios. I spent three hours on the phone with them today alone, and three more on three other days.
Now I am trying to set up the TV in Media Center, and during the set up TV process wizard, it says that my IR control cable is not detected. So it will not let me proceed. This IR cable and hardware is used (i think) to control the changing of the set top box channels. I am also reading about some sensor or other. I have searched around this forum and elsewhere, but I don't understand what I'm reading. I want to find out if I should have received this IR cable or whatever as part of the package from HP. I got a remote control, but that is it. When I initially questioned HP about the tuner card, they assured me I could watch AND record television if I had satellite and purchased this tuner card, but I can't set up record because I can't get past this step in Media Center wizard. No one at HP seems to know a blessed thing about this, and are obviously as clueless as I am. They are telling me I can't record, and don't know what an IR cable even is.
Bought this laptop brand new from Bestbuy 2 weeks ago, brought it home, tested everything and all was fine, first time I tested the webcam using the HP Mediasmart webcam software all was well, this laptop has 2 lights in the webcam location, to the left of the circular webcam has 4 small dots of light and the webcam itself, the webcam light came on the first time I tested it briefly. We had to do a full recovery [reformat] after a few days and now after the recovery was done, next time I tried the webcam, the webcam works fine, I can see anything but only the webcam light now does not come on, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and then updating the driver from hp's site but the light still does not come on, only the 4 small dot lights to the left stays on but these lights stay on whether the webcam is on or not,

At times I've been wondering why my wireless wasn't working and, after trying various things, finally realised I'd accidentally hit the little blue antenna button on the touch-strip...
If I can turn the entire thing off, that would be great.. is there a service or something that monitors it which I can turn off?

I sometimes try to connect to a network, then the wireless led suddenly orange although Wireless is Enabled. My friend who has an XP system can connect to that network in the cafe just fine so does everybody else, but on my system, it says connecting, then the icon turns orange as if there was no wirelesss card installed.
I am using the Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN v12.2.0.11 Driver which was installed through Windows Update along with HP Wireless Assistant v3.50.2.1
Now I have an orange icon for wireless, although wireless is enabled in both device manager and through the touch key.
the icon will turn blue if I restart and wireless access will be restored, but I will lose it again if I try to connect to a wireless network.
I have got Notebook Compaq Presario.. If I do turn it off for start-up, I will still be able to access it in the Control Panel if need be, right?

I used mujjuman's stickied guide to installing windows xp on a HP dv6700 and everything went perfectly except I can't connect to any wireless connections. The driver I'm sure is the right one and I can see available networks to connect to but it never can connect.
There is always an error saying something along the lines of "The wireless connection is out of range or too low a signal" but this is when I have the computer right next to the router and the windows wireless manager shows it as having full signal.

i just got my tx2500z and of course, i reformatted to a fresh install of windows. however, i forgot to make a backup copy of the hp wireless assistant which allows you to turn of wireless or bluetooth independently. i tried the install that came with another hp laptop but i ended up getting bsod's so i'm asking if anyone who has the same model could provide me with this software that came from the tx2500z compatible for 64-bit.

Specifically the router is a NETGEAR WPNT 834. My computer works great with my Motorola wireless router. It also works great with my mothers Linksys wireless router and the wireless router at work. Don't know the brand of the router at work. I've verified multiple times the network key, etc. My daughter's Apple Macbook with the same key works properly.

So I bought another wireless card (Intel 3945abg) and it gives me code 10 - device cannot start. I worked on that for a month and couldn't get it working so I bought another one thinking it was the card, this time it was the part number that hp used for the original card that should have been in the laptop. So that one comes in the mail (intel 3945abg also), I put it in and it gives me code 10 also. I have no idea what the problem is but I do know that there is not really a point to having a laptop without wireless.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy title pretty much explains it. I push the on button and nothing happens. I have done this both with it connected to the AC adapter and without it. No charging indicator light comes on.
no sign of any power whatsoever. Mybrother has the same computer i do, so i swapped batteries with him and nothin. no power no nothing. I also switched harddrives with him, just to see what would happen and nothing. still no boot up, no power.
One thing i di notice is that my power button is a little stiff, but that has always been the case since i got it.
Just today my laptop keeps acting weirdly when trying to turn it on. When i try to boot it up it will power on, sometimes evenmaking it as far as the windows loading before it beeps and turns itself straight off, not booting down.
then when it has done that it will start turning itself on and then off without me pressing the power button. i had to remove th battery to stop the laptop turning itself on and getting stuck in the cycle.
My HP650 notebook has gone black screen. It is turning on properly but displays nothing .....
View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago, I booted my computer to find that the led light that indicates activity on the wireless didn't turn blue, and of course, there was not a wireless connection nor a way to set up one. I checked the device manager and found no problems, then checked out the HP Wireless Assistant. Puzzlingly, the assistant reported the wireless as on and without any problem, so I fired the command line unity (wireless.exe). It adviced to make sure that the switch of the wireless was on, and that the wireless was activated in the BIOS, so I rebooted and pressed f10. Nowehre in the BIOS could I find any kind of option about the wireless, so I just rebooted normally, and lo, the wireless was back. I thought that I had unadvertedly fixed it in the BIOS and let it be.
Fast forward a few days, I got the same problem when I booted up the ol' laptop, so I just rebooted, entered the BIOS again, and rebooted back. This time it didn't work out so I just rebooted the computer twice, and it was fixed. Since my job relies so much on the internet, I decided just to suspend my machine after use instead shutting it down, to avoid a new booting up into wirlessness; but yesterday, when I woke it back from suspension, the wireless was dead again! It took me no less than 7 reboots to make it start up again. Now I'm really paranoid that next time it happens, there will be no return, so Im keeping the computer on, 24/7 until I get some help,
The computer is a Pavilion Entertainment PC Special Edition with an AMD Turion 64x2, 2 Gbs of RAM and Windows XP. I've had it for one year and a half without trouble until now.
I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop. with the intel WIFI 5100AGN card. I could get speeds to the max in my house which is about 260 KB/s. Now my sister got a DV6-1334ca this christmas, and ever since then my speeds have gone down to 20KB/s while she gets the rest of the given bandwidth. Any ideas why or how to adjust it so i can get half the speed? we both have the same wireless card, and the router is a Linksys WRT54GC. any type of tweak i can do on this router or a program? i have a WIFI 5100AGN card and she has a 1000AGN card
View 4 Replies View Relatedsometimes when i plug in, the wireless disables itself. hp wireless helper app tells me that it is disabled using the button... but the button is on. and then immediately when i unplug the laptop and run on battery, the wireless turns on and connects, and the wireless light on the switch is blue.
i tried disabling and enabling the wireless network adapter, it didnt work. i tried turning the switch on/off manually while plugged in, it doesnt work.
also, i noticed that the LED for the "power on" near the wireless switch (next to "charging" light and "HDD access" light is very dim or off, while the laptop is on. I think it might be related.
So my dv6000 has finally suffered the death of the wireless adapter. I suppose the motherboard is next to go. It is beyond even the extended warranty for this problem by a couple of months.
Should I try to get HP to fix it under the extended warranty, or should I just forget it?
In either case I'll never buy another HP computer again.
