View 4 RepliesI did a clean install of Vista a few weeks back and I decided not to install the SmartWi application. Is there a way to turn off the Bluetooth in order to get longer battery life? I have just been disabling the Bluetooth in the device manager.
I also disabled the 'Bluetooth Software' from the startup items, but the bluetooth icon still appears after a restart. Does this signify that it is on?
Several times a week, my bluetooth mouse will freeze. I can still use the touchpad or the red dot. Fix is to Fn+F5 and stop and start the bluetooth radio. Looking in Lenovo System Update, I can see the Bluetooth driver is a recent install and is version 6.5.1.4500 for Windows 7 [32/64].

Mouse is Targus bluetooth mouse, model: AMB09US
I bought at DELL OUTLET a M6400 without the Bluetooth Module, I will buy it separate from DELL, do you know if the Bluetooth antenas will be Pre-Wired in the notebook ?,
actually I am buying the DELL 410 Bluetooth + UWB card, meaning I need the Pre-Wiring for Bluetooth and UWB ?
I noticed a few other threads around the internet about this issue, but couldnt find a definitive answer on how to get it fixed, so I thought I would try it here.
The problem is that when I go into standby and wake from it, my bluetooth icon disappears and bluetooth doesnt work.
I have a Dell Studio XPS 13 running Vista 64 with the Dell bluetooth 370 minicard. Ive tried using the generic windows bluetooth drivers as well as Dell's drivers.
Nothing appears in device manager as well. I have to manually go into bluetooth settings, disable the device, then re-enable it.
If I leave my E4300 (in sig) idle too long (like when watching TV or eating) the LAN will turn off, thus disconnecting me from AIM, email, etc..
How do I prevent the LAN from turning off when idle? I've looked everywhere, in DCP, device properties, and power schemes and settings.
Ive downloaded and gamed and browsed all at the same time before...But for some reason today my wireless adapter keeps turning itself off...And no Im not accidentally hitting the switch..I'll even toggle the switch off and back on and it still says my wireless adapter is off..Its really strange..And when I troubleshoot it says network adapter is off, check switch..the switch is on..?This keeps happening..A reboot fixes it or if I disable the network adapter, and then re-enable it..

no sign of any power whatsoever. Mybrother has the same computer i do, so i swapped batteries with him and nothin. no power no nothing. I also switched harddrives with him, just to see what would happen and nothing. still no boot up, no power.
One thing i di notice is that my power button is a little stiff, but that has always been the case since i got it.
Just today my laptop keeps acting weirdly when trying to turn it on. Â When i try to boot it up it will power on, sometimes evenmaking it as far as the windows loading before it beeps and turns itself straight off, not booting down.
then when it has done that it will start turning itself on and then off without me pressing the power button. i had to remove th  battery to stop the laptop turning itself on and getting stuck in the cycle.
I just did a full clean install today to remove Ubuntu. I put vista 64 bit on and reinstalled all the system drivers.
I took the laptop upstairs to watch 1 episode of the simpsons(23 min long) and during the whole episode, the fan would go on for 2-3 seconds, turn off for 4 seconds, turn back on for 2-3 seconds. This is extremely annoying as my parents are sleeping, its quiet in the house and while watching the episode I can hear the fan turn on and off.
Occasionally the fan will stay on the 5-8 seconds then turn off for 4 sec.
I love the unit otherwise but find this verry annoying. I've 'tweaked' vista to get it running quick, I'm set on Power Saver mode, LCD screen brightness low and just have IE open with the show playing.
I do believe I have Bios A12 installed also.
I have a Dell Latitude e6400, running MS Vista (latest SP2 + updates).
It is running Bios A14 (recent update).
My issues are:
1. Computer will start up and work normally. However, on shutting down and restart, it will not restart
2. The 'on' button flashes every few seconds as if the notebook is 'trying' to start up and the HDD light flashes every so briefly. This recurs indefinitely.
My m1330 fans have recently been turning themselves on a LOT - even when the computer is still cold and I'm not doing anything except browsing. It never used to do this... however I did have the motherboard replaced (under warranty - the old one died) and I could be mistaken but I've only noticed it after that.
It has been summer so I can understand it partly, but even today for example I just turned it on, printed a page out of a PDF and on went the fans - it hadn't even been on for 5 minutes before they started up. I've got a 9 cell battery in so it even has good ventilation .....
I reinstalled my Studio15 with XP Pro SP3 and every now and then (1-2 every 30min), the windows key will simply turn on like capslock.
so... if I type R, it opens the RUN prompt.
Type L, it locks the pc.
If I tap the Win-key, it "turns itself off" again.
My laptop turns on as usual when plugged in and the battery gets charged as well. However it will not turn on when not plugged in, despite battery showing 80% earlier....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my dell 3521 laptop on sep 2013 , I shut down the laptop last night now I couldn't turn on the only thing I get is power light on without blinking No fan no had to switch off I need to remove the battery no other way. I removed the battery and hold power button for 1 min to remove static power but nothing happens. Tried with new dell 65w AC adaptor but no luck only getting power light on.
Is that my battery is dead? Laptop will not turn on by only AC adaptor ? Coz even only with AC adaptor only power light on without blinking nothing else
My Bluetooth keyboard goes to sleep after a period of idle and it takes 15 seconds for the Acer Aspire 1810T to wake up and notice the Bluetooth keypresses.
However, I found out my Bluetooth keyboard works reliably when I have a second Bluetooth device connected and active at the time (such as either a headset or bluetooth tethering to a cellphone as modem), the computer doesn't have a 15 second lag in noticing the Bluetooth keyboard again - the keyboard works almost right away even after being unused for sometime.
So that means the culprit is in the power management on the Acer Bluetooth module. Is there a way to force the Bluetooth module to never go to sleep? Any checkbox somewhere, a register setting? Even going as far to purchase a different Bluetooth driver? Or any other option? Sometimes the sleep is useful, but it definitely isn't useful with the Bluetooth keyboard. This problem does not happen if I use an external Bluetooth dongle.
(With BatteryBar Pro, I notice that power consumption falls suddenly whenever the Bluetooth module goes to sleep when the keyboard goes idle for more than 30 seconds, and at this point, it has difficulty 'waking up' when I start typing on the Bluetooth keyboard. But the problem also still happens when the laptop is plugged in!)
I could understand if I was putting it on a carpet and playing crysis for a few hours.
But I just stream a TV show and it turns off after about 20 minutes. And it is on a hard surface as well.
I've had it since May I think last year.
My dell inspiron n5110 laptop is not turning off..but windows shutdown succesfully and power switch led and cpu fan is ON..for turning off,i need to force shut down..
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 17 N7110 Keeps shutting itself down, recycling its system (I am sure I am using the wrong terminology). It will get to the dell logo screen and then go blank and restart itself. I spoke with someone at Techzilla who said that this has been happening to other people with this model. I removed the battery, tried hitting the F8, F11, F2 and F12 buttons. When I hit the F12 button the screen went to a black screen with a blinking curser in the upper right hand corner. This screen lasted about a second or two before it shuts down again and starts to recycle again. I was told that it's a software problem (that I downloaded a virus) but if others are having the same problem then I think it's a dell model issue not a software issue.Â

View 2 Replies View Relatedi couldn't able the laptop to Turn it on, it was functioning well up to last night.
Referring to the forum i tried by removing battery and pressing  the power on button for 30 seconds in-order to discharge it and then connected again to power supply but couldn't make it ON ,Â
I have Dell inspiron 15r which was fine till last night . But today when I turned on there is no response . Only power light turns on. No sound of fan or hard disk . No beeps. No change in power LEDs color. I did little research on net and tries to remove static charge but it won't work. Now power light is not turning of untill I remove battery. Â When I holds power button for few secs power light turns off for 1 or 2 seconds and turns on after that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have finally tested the Acer Empowering Technology software on my Acer D150.
Great news, the software works to enable/disable the Bluetooth module on the netbook without physically pressing the button. This is great for people like me that do not have the button on top to push the button inside. There are two software needed for people to get this running on the D150. First is the required “Acer Empowering Framework” software and the second is the “Acer ePower Management.” Once both software are installed on the system, the setting to enable/disable the Bluetooth module is in the ePower Management.
Power profiles within windows will probably be reset to default, so those would have to be readjusted if a user changed them. I am actually running Windows Vista on my Acer D150 with the Acer Empowering Technology software for Vista. I am not 100% sure if the software will also work on XP, but from the notebookreview forums, I believe it should work just as fine (but more options on other Empowering Technology software).
(in XP, the driver also works, but need XP edition, not vista editon).
My dell inspiron m5030 is making a 7 beep noise and the monitor wont turn on either what can i do??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was surfing internet on my dell inspiron 5521 an battery level was around 72% it suddenly goes off. It was not a turn off or windows error. I feel it was something from inside hardware because it is not turning on by pushing on button and tried to charge him but charging light did not on but adapter light was on that means adapter is fine. I have removed the battery and puts it back but no power for laptop. There is not a error soon total no power.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Dell Studio 1555 which is around 4-5 years old. No warranty left. Today while I was chatting with my friend on skype, it turned off abruptly. It was plugged in and was working fine from last few days. However, when it turned off, the screen turned off like the screen of a Television. It is not turning on now. I've tried pushing the power button but nothing comes up. The fan used to make a lot of noise from last few months, when used for a long time. What can be the issue? I've searched on internet and it points towards motherboard problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had just closed it the other night after charging it. Then there was nothing - no boot, no LED with charger, no fan. I checked and the charger is definitely functioning, so I worry that this is a problem with the motherboard.
Since it's an ultrabook, I haven't been able to remove flea power since the battery is embedded into the laptop.I wonder if it would be possible for a technician to come have a look at it ASAP?
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 , Core i5 4gb ram 620 HDD
It had absolutely no problem up till last night , i bought it only 3 day ago.last night Either put it on hibernate or sleep when it had about 30-40% battery.
Today at 10 i tried turning it on, it didn't work , nothing happened , i plugged the Charger and still no Difference , the battery lit or any other lit is not turning on either ... it look completely dead . i taken out the battery and tried turning it on with only AC but it didn't work either , it look like no power going to the laptop at all , if it wasn't because of the Lit near the tip the Charger that was on and working . i would day the AC is broken or something .....
Having a strange issue with the Touchpad on my Dell Precision M4800. When I disable it using the Dell software or using the Fn+F5 hotkey, it has a tendency to come back on after a random interval of time. I want it to stay turned off permanently, as I prefer to use the Pointstick exclusively. When using the Fn hotkey, I get a notification onscreen as well as a popup in the system tray saying "Touchpad notification: Your touchpad has been disabled." If I manually disable it through the Dell Pointing Devices software, I get the same effect, but without the notification. In either case, this works great... for awhile. But then the Touchpad inevitably turns back on. I often don't notice until suddenly my mouse cursor is behaving erratically, at which point I try to swipe my finger on the touchpad and sure enough, it's become enabled again.
However after some further experimenting it turns out the "random" aspect of this is not totally random and I can reproduce the issue quite reliably by furiously scanning my finger back and forth across the Touchpad for a few seconds. Inevitably, the touchpad will turn back on, and I will get the notification "Your touchpad has been enabled." No buttons or hotkeys are pressed, all I have to do is move my finger on the touchpad surface rapidly and within seconds of starting to do that, it will re-enable itself. Again, there is also a notification that it has been re-enabled when this happens, so the software is detecting my finger movements somehow, perhaps I am accidentally performing some "magic gesture" that compels it to re-enable the touchpad.
If I don't intentionally try to cause this, it still turns on eventually, but can take a long time, half an hour or more before it becomes enabled again. I assume it's the activity of my palms resting on it that will accidentally turn it on again in the same way as swiping my finger intentionally across the disabled touchpad. It makes no difference whether the Dell Pointing Device software is open or closed and this will happen when any application is open.
All I want is for the touchpad to be truly disabled permanently and not accidentally turn on in the middle of my work. But at the same time I'd prefer to leave the pointing stick enabled, so I can't simply remove the driver. So far I've been using an external mouse and disabling all internal pointing devices, which works ok, but like I said I am fond of the pointing stick, I'd prefer to be able to leave it on with JUST the touchpad disabled.
