View 1 RepliesWhen I set my Yoga 13 to tablet mode and set the orientation to Portrait mode, it throttles the CPU to 0.78 ghz and no matter what I run, it won't bring the CPU back to normal. Once I flip it back to laptop mode, it's back to normal. There needs to be an option turn the throttling feature on or off at will.
The other night I was showing my neighbor this glorious laptop and while demonstrating the game Birzzle, once in portrait mode, the game started freezing up because the CPU couldn't keep up.
When I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.
The top text is what it looks like when the screen orientation is anything other than "normal".
The bottom text is what it looks like in normal mode.
It's running windows 7 Pro 64-bit. The touchscreen input also shifts a few pixels up when the orientation flips 180.
I just got two of these (off-lease) and they both have the same issue.
My Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop, after having the screen and hinges replaced due to other problems (ghost touches), now won't auto rotate the screen when in tablet mode. The keyboard is also functional when the screen is pushed back past 90 degrees, so when the keyboard is on my laptop but the screen is facing me. This doesn't happen in true tablet mode however.I've tried reinstalling all of the up-to-date drivers; chipset, BIOS, along with the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver.
There are a number of issues I can highlight that stop this from working;
1) in device manager there is no entry for ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, nor Accelerometer or anything I presume makes this function work. There is a Sensors collection, but nothing in there I think is it,. There is also no 'Unknown' device listed.
2) I should see PopUp_DM.exe in the running services and in the startup selection of programs. This is nowhere to be seen.
3) I don't appear to have a "Sensors" applet
4) when I choose 'Normal Startup' in msconfig & then reboot, it goes back to the bottom option, Selective startup. Is this something I need to do via the Dell BIOS Advanced Options?
Other than doing a full restore, which I loathe to do again as already prompted by Dell previous to this issue, what can I do? A bit worried that when Dell replaced my screen they didn't refit or include the accelerometer!
There is a major issue here with Dell's Touchpad drivers, they simply do not work. Anytime I try to use the Touchpad the mouse goes flying all over the place and is completely useless. Whenever the screen is folded back into tablet mode--they keyboard will not lock.
Have been on phone with Dell for hours on this with no resolve. There are a lot of people complaining about the same thing, Dell doesn't see to understand this.
I recently lost the option to change the screen orientation on my HP Pavilion Dv7-6135dx running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Upgrading and downgrading the drivers for my video cards has no effect.
I have even updated my BIOS, and used a restore point to no avail.
I just intalled a new disk that is running quite well, except that I cannot run xpmode. I get the warning that I need to alter the bios, but not setting exists on the chip to alter it for virtualization. Why could it run before on the same chip, but no longer. Is there a workaround. Is there a way to copy the settings from the old hard drive? I suspect not, but I am sometimes an optimist.

I tried everything... reinstalled nearly all the drivers... and some power management settings, yet the damn thing is still greyed out. I can't figure it out for the life of me.
I recently had to realize that the touchpad is not recognized when booting in tablet mode.
As I noticed the keyboard and touchpad are disabled when the screen is turned around or just tilted out of the latching, is there a way to enable them again - perhaps a BIOS setting or update?
I think it would be in advantage if keyboard and pad stay active when the screen is rotated e.g. if there is not much space to tilt the lid, then the screen-unit could be tilted in the frame for a better viewing angle.
When I fold the screen back and use the laptop in "tablet mode", the keyboard automatically get disabled but the touchpad does not. I have tried looking in the mouse and touchpad settings to no avail and it is very frustrating!
View 10 Replies View RelatedRunning in extended desktop mode with my external monitor as the primary, the touch works as input on the laptop but the pen does not. When I put the pen to the screen of the tablet the pen icon appears on the external monitor screen only. I have gone to the Tablet PC Settings Setup to set up the pen (and hit "Enter" to change the screen for the input) but touching the pen to the Lenovo screen does nothing to set this option.
I feel if the touch screen will work in extended desktop mode, then the pen should and that I'm just missing something.I'm upgrading from the X60 and the workaround that I used for that tablet was to have two presets - one for extended desktop for the external monitor for everyday use and one for the laptop screen only for when I needed to use the tablet function while docked. That was a good workaround (although I would see the BSoD on a fairly regular basis) but I was hoping for more with the X220.

When I flip to tablet or stand mode (i even get the toast notification that it's switched), the touchpad doesn't disable. I am still able to move the pointer and click. The keyboard however is disabled. I have installed the bios update, energy manager thing, and latest firmware from Synpatics.

I got a new Twist a couple of days ago. When in tablet mode, the mouse pointer will come up and start moving around the screen. I think it may be one of two things. 1. The ghost of my former laptop is haunting the Twist or 2. The keyboard/mouse is not disabled in tablet mode and the back of my screen is causing the movement when I am using it in tablet mode. Is there a setting to disable the keyboard/mouse in tablet mode or am I the only one having this problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my lenovo yoga 3 pro, and started removing what I thought was bloatware, but I'm guessing I removed something important. Now, the keyboard/mousepad doesn't disable when I'm in tablet/stand/tent mode.

If i boot from laptop mode however and flip to tablet mode, the cursor reappears when i flip it back to laptop mode.
I am having problems connecting an external monitor, Dell 2709W, to my Elitebook 820 G1.
I have an Intel HD 4400 graphics solution. The monitor says:
Out of range signal
Cannot display this video mode
change computer display input to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.
I use a Display Port cable for the connection.
My OS is Win 8.1 64bit
I have used the HP support assistant to update all hardware drivers...
On my new HP 2760p the new Graphics Driver on HP drivers site won't install.I have driver Graphics Intel (R) HD Graphics version 9.17.10.2963 installed and would like to update to the newest version 15.28.13.64.2963. Have tried several times, re-downloaded the new version (sp61863.exe) but it goes part-way through installation and suddenly informs me that it now will install the 9.17.10.2963 version. It also keeps showing up as this version being the installed driver. Why can't I get the 15 .. version to install?

If I put a SSD in, will that make it better? If not, is that possible to upgrade X200 tablet motherboard & CPU to make it better?
I need a notebook for outside in the sun use. Between 14"-16" that has a very BRIGHT screen. I've tried the Envy 15 w/Matte and it's too dim. Would you recommend the new EliteBook 8540w or 8440w? Do these have really bright screens that are good for outside use? I need good battery life too.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a blue screen of death every few hours when using the touchpad:

The windows 8 pro that shipped with my Helix keeps crashing a few times a day.
Lenovo seems to be updating their driver every few weeks, but they are not fixing my problem!
I've enabled most of the fancy settings in the driver options, so who knows if mine is a bad combination...
I bought two new KTH X3BS/4G Modules for my Elitbook 8740w. They show up in the BIOS as 8GB. RAM test says everything is oke. When I start the notebook it has all kind of blue screens.
Mostly it says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Maybe it's a timing problem. Where can I change the timings? I don't find any options in the BIOS.
I tried booting linux. Also doesn't work and hangs. I did the BIOS Update to the newest version...
The problem might be, that the memory is only supported on 8740w QUAD Core Machines. My Machine is only dual core i5 m520.
My HP elitebook 8540p has been serving me well for years but recently it shows a bluescreen and resets after entering the windows password.
Diagnostics when starting up say:
Memory Test: Failed

Product ID : WTO38ES#ABH
Memory Module 2 Bottom-Slot 1 (right)
This means the memory card underneath the keyboard should be replaced, correct? I am confused by the message saying "Module 2 Bottom-Slot 1 (right)", I see only one card... If so, what is the best way to acquire a new memory card (Primary memory board)?
When I place my LCD into tablet mode, sometimes my mouse wanders slowly on the screen and the touch interface seems to be disabled. After some trial and error I found that the culprit is that my TrackPoint is gently rubbing against the backside of the LCD. I found that I could make the mouse cursor move rapidly back and forth on the screen just by gently putting pressure on sides of the LCD when the laptop in tablet mode. I own two x220t devices, and this happens on both of them. My TrackPoint touch sensitivity is set 2 ticks to the left of the most sensitive setting.
I remember reading somewhere that the TrackPad is disabled when the laptop detects that the LCD is swiveled into tablet mode, so that it doesn't accidentally move the mouse. Could the TrackPoint be similarly disabled so that it doesn't generate these phantom mouse movements?
I have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues. Putting them into several threads so they can be answered independently. The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything.
Screen rotation does not work. In “Device Manager” I can see “C5621 gw Mobile Broadband Geolocation Sensor” and “Hid Sensor Collection”. The HID one has an exclamation mark next to it. Are there some drivers I need to download to make this work. I did of course check if screen rotation is not locked – it is not (I did turn it on/off a couple of times, without any effect). Manual rotation (using display settings) works fine.
My acer aspire p3 tablet did not show on TV screen when i plug the hdmi to my TV ....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently received a new laptop at work (a few of us have) and we are all having the same issue with this laptop. The function keys F8 and F9, which are labeled to control screen brightness, are not working. I have searched many forums and I cannot find a fix.
Product Name: HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1

The screens are so dim it's hard to see the content on them.
Sometimes when I leave my Helix alone the screen saver kick in. When I try to use the Laptop again after a while, it has turned on the (back) camera and the camera app is completely stuck. No swipe, no Alt-F4 or Alt tab can get it out of there. I have to hold the powerbutton down for a hard-power off.
Seems to me this is a software problem. I tried to install the new Settings app this morning. (this refreshes the camera sw and other drivers) but no improvements. Same problem remains.
The brand new multitouch worked for 2 days while I was setting up the laptop and my files. I played with it for about an hour tonight. The X230T was running on battery, I plugged in the power cord, and the screen became totally unresponsive. As insensitive as a school bully in a bridal shower.
Per instructions at [URL] .... -- I'm running Windows 7, 64bit -- I uninstalled and reinstalled the ISD multitouch driver, 7wge69ww.exe. No go.
The only input device that now works is the mouse -- not the pen, not a finger.
Considering that my other X230 was sent to the shop last week (with a second dead motherboard in less than a year), I'm starting to wonder about Lenovo.
