HP Envy 15- 3040nr Audio :: Sound Simply Stopped Working
Jun 3, 2013
The sound on my hp envy 15-3040nr just stopped working. I have reinstalled the sound drivers, checked to see if the speakers were disabled in the device manager, and used the troubleshooting tool in system and security. None of these have worked. Sound also doesn't work with headphones.
Computer is a year old. Windows 8. If i reset the computer the sound will come on for as long as im using it, but the second i walk away and come back its off and not working.
I have an HP envy m6 1178sa and recently the sound stopped playing. Uninstalled the sound software and downloaded a new one and it was working fine...but then after the laptop is off( because of low battery), when I put the laptop on again, there is no sound.
I have an HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC, E5L25EA#ABU. (Windows 8) My sound has stopped working and I do not know why. Obviously I have checked that the sound is turned up on both my laptop and in the program I am watching.
I have a problem with my HP ENVY m6 laptop (Running Windows 8) regarding sound on my headphones. Just as recent as today, when I plugged in my headphones no sound came through. I tried another pair, but got the same result. This laptop is only about 4 and a half months old (Got it in mid-January), and this is a real bummer.
I've recently noticed a problem with my PC's speakers not working. I'm not entirely sure what causes them to stop working, but if I remember correctly, the first time I remember it happening was after I had my computer plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable. Since then, the speakers seem to come and go. I think restarting my computer usually brings them back, but I was curious if there was another way to fix them other than that and if I could do something to keep this from happening in the future. Also, I'm interested in finding out why this is happening to my PC.

There is no sound working on my HP and when I try to test it there is a window that shows up saying there is another program running even though I just started up the laptop. The icon on the computer for volume also will not "mute" when I push the button to mute it.
A few days ago I updated from the Windows 8.1 evaluation to the full 8.1 release and since then my audio has not been working. In the control panel, "Digital Display Audio (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" is listed as unplugged. The audio icon on the taskbar is Xed out and clicking it runs the error finder in vain. Speakers no longer show up in the device listing although now that nothing is working I'm not sure if they ever did or if audio just came through Digital Display Audio. Headphones do not show up as playback devices and the volume controls on the keyboard and taskbar are inaccessible.
I have never used external speakers. The Windows 8.1 update seemed to wipe all of my HP and AMD software that came with the laptop so I reinstalled the HP Support Center and searched for driver updates and all that jive but everything shows as up to date. I don't know what else to look for as most of the forums I've seen seem to be talking about their HDMI out sound not working when plugged into a TV and I'm just trying to have sound, period.

My notebook restarted itself to make updates, once i logged on i found that the sound is not working on music files, web pages etc. other than the windows sound. The other thing i noticed is that the mute button will not go off or on? i tried to troubleshoot but nothing..I found that left clicking my sound icon and clicking on playback devices and then left clicking speakers and headphones and clicking 'Test' led to a pop up; "Device in Use.The device is being used by another application. any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again." I have checked everywhere but i can't find the device being used anywhere? I'm not willing to lose by Beats Audio.

My laptop is only a few month old, however the sound is suddenly no loner working - both through the speakers and headphones. I have a hp envy m6 notepad, running windows (i am unable to update to windows 8.1 due to other programmes that are not yet compatable with this)
Within the last couple of weeks, the sound quit working on my laptop. Since purchasing, I have been able to mute the sound and turn it back on with no trouble, but now when I unmute the sound, nothing happens. The sound icon and the Volume Mixer all show that the sound is working and is set at the highest volume, but nothing comes out. Given that this laptop has beatsaudio, it's frustrating.
My Beats Audio keeps crashing when I try to open "Listening Experience". It has worked before, crashed before and began working again after I did some jiggling of things such as uninstall/reinstall driver, update/rollback driver, computer and HP troubleshooting, etc. (but I couldn't tell you what I did when or in what sequence) It has again decided to not work!

My HP Envy 15-3040nr has an Intel i7-2670QM processor, which works with Turbo Boost just fine. My laptop goes to a maximum of 3.0 GHz when under full load (I render heavy gameplay videos), and underclocks just fine when in energy saver mode.
However, I want to know if it is possible to LOCK the processor's clock rate at a consistently high rate, say, something like 2.9 (or an unrealistic 3.1 GHz, the rated turbo high) GHz, assuming that heat is not an issue (yes, it obviously will be an issue, but let's just say it isn't).
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
Okay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
I am using HP 2000-2313TU Notebook PC laptop with windows 8 64 bit operating system. From the last few days i am facing some problems in audio..when i am opening my laptop the sound system is working well...but when i am not continuing any audio application( busy in some other work..) and after sometime say 20-30minutes when i am opening any audio or video file it is running without any sound..when i am restarting my computer again audio device works...if i am not using the audio files after opening my computer also this problem happens after sometimes when i play some audio files.
my sound on my laptop just suddenly stopped working and it was fine last night. Sound does not come out of the speakers, headphone jack, nor can I record using on board mic or plug in mic. I have reinstalled drivers, used system restore and did about everything that I could think of. The exact model number is HP TX 2513Cl. Any help would be much appreciated as I do not have time to send this tablet in for repairs. (and I can't even imagine how long I would be talking to HP either)
Just updated to windows 8.1 and now my beats audio is not working on my HP ENVY x2 Tablet/PC. I am running windows 8.1 32-bit, Product name: HP ENVY X2 PC, Product number: C7F27AV, Serial number: 4CN312078X. Also my headphones are not working.
I have an Inspiron 1720 laptop. It will be 2 years old this coming Christmas...and I ain't got the extended warranty so no go on sending this thing back to dell.
Recently within the past week or so the 1 and only fan has stopped working on it. Once I found out it stopped working I went and download SpeedFan to check on my temps and they was pretty high it showed the above normal arrow and sometimes even the flame icon next to the temps. So I have not been using my laptop since. I tried taking this thing apart but I have had no luck. I'm not very experienced in working on laptops.
~~UPDATE~~ My fan is working now. I don't know if I jumped to conclusions whenever my fan wouldn't turn on after a good 20 mins or so of just web surfing. So I decided to just hop on a game and play. Then there it was not even 5 mins into playing the fan kicked in and starting pushing out hot air very nicely, but I did look at the temps on SpeedFan and during gameplay my GPU would reach 140F and CPU would get at like 130-135F. My idle temps are still high in my opinion. The GPU idles in these ranges 125-130F and CPU at 100-110F. Is these temps normal? .....
When I connect my laptop to my tv the sound does no come out the tv, but remains coming out the pc speakers. it is not a cable issue as my other hp laptop works fine. i can't find a setting to change it to hdmi audio output.
Discovered no sound yesterday when I used my laptop. Today I tried to resolve the problem thinking it was a simple task, so many hours later I've discovered others suffering the same plight!
My HP g6-1d70us running on windows 8 64-bit's sound just stopped working after shutting down. When I move my mouse to the speaker icon on the task bar, it shows a message "No audio output device is installed".When I run the troubleshooting, it says "Bluetooth Hands-free audio has a driver problem".
I have an HP Envy dv7-7230us. I recently installed multiple HP updates deemed "critical" by their prompt. After installing and rebooting, I have no sound. If it is a clue, it also disconnected my WiFi.
Basically, I donwload the new audio driver and there would be sound only on the right speaker. However, when the computer is shut down or reset the speakers will not work.
what else can I do? FYI I am using windows 8-64bit.
I use my laptop almost everyday, and it has been fine up until today. I have an HP Envy dv4. I rarely shut it down--I usually just close the lid and leave it like that until I'm ready to use it again. Today, when I opened it and logged in, I went to Youtube. However, no sound will play. I didn't have this problem the last time I used the PC, and can't figure out what's wrong. I don't have any sound with headphones plugged in, and I don't have any sound when I try to use just the PC speakers.
I've already made sure the sound is definitely on--I have muted it and unmuted it several times, raised and lowered the volume by using the f9 and f10 keys, and nothing happens. I've tried playing media that is stored on my PC, and no sound there either. I've also tried using Rosetta Stone, and it won't open because it says it can't find any sound output.
I have restarted the computer several times, scanned for viruses, and scanned for updates. Nothing has worked.
