HP Envy 15-j15ea OS/Software :: Driver For Unknown PCI Device After Reinstalling Windows 8.1
Aug 7, 2014
I have HP ENVY 15-j15ea and 2 problems with it.
1. After reinstalling Windows 8.1 64 bit I can't find the driver for unknown PCI (bus 6), which hardware ID is:
device PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_198A103C&REV_01PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_5229
&SUBSYS_198A103CPCIVEN_10EC&DEV_5229&CC_FF0000PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_5229&CC_FF00
I,ve tried this link, but it doesn't work: [URL] .....
2. And do I need to install some drivers for my laptop's motherboard/chipset AMD A76M FCH ? I couldn't find driver for it, so maybe it is pre-installed with Windows 8.1?

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop HP pavilion G6 model 2241sa. Almost all drivers were installed automatically. Additionally I downloaded from HP support site all drivers for similar model (2241nr).
I installed everything one be one. All works BUT ONE device is not recognised... Here are some details of it:
It says Unknown device (in Other devices group) with yellow exclamation mark. Location - on PCI Express Root Complex. bios device name - _SB. PCI0.ACEL, hardware ID - ACPI VEN_HPQ& DEV_0004. That's all i have about this device.
How to establish which driver I need and for which device?

I installed Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell E4200.I had two yellow exclamation points in device manager for unknown devices.
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications
I went to Dell support site and to the drivers and downloads page for my Service Tag.Under the Chipset section there is an Intel driver for AMT HECI. Installing that driver solved the PCI Simple Communications item.
Also under Chipset there is an Intel driver AMT SOL. I installed that driver but the PCI Serial Port was still showing Unknown with the Yellow..In my case I had to then manually Update the driver as follows:
Open Device Manager > right click on PCI Serial Port and choose Update driver > choose Browse my computer and browse to the driver folder for the AMT SOL just created when you downloaded and installed the driver mentioned above. Location for me is C:DellDriversR279202.

I have been running in to an issue lately with a Latitude E5540 laptop.
The specs are:
Intel i5 cpu @ 1.9 ghz
4 gb RAM
x32 Windows 7
In my device manager it says that I have an unknown device and there is the warning symbol next to it. When I go to update the drivers it says that it can't find any drivers (I am connected to the Internet). I looked at the hardware ID and noticed that it was APCISMO8810, I then proceeded to research the driver, which I found was the ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver. I also know what it's primary function is.
The issue I keep running in to is that I have uninstalled the driver, and tried to re-install the driver from the Dell downloads. However halfway through the process the install wizard tells me that the most recently updated driver from dells site is older than the driver I currently have installed. (even though it says there is no driver installed)

recently purchased a Inspiron 15R 5521 from Dell Australia and took me a few weeks to install and setup the the system the way I want.
Today, I tried to enable bluetooth but the slider won't move to On mode, so I checked Device Manager and Bluetooth device was labeled as Unknown device.
So I checked my service tag numbered driver updates and there's a Intel Centrino Advance-N 2230 15.5.6.48 A02 driver update, so tried updating to that driver. But it returned device not configured correctly and prompting me to reinstall driver. Reinstalling driver fails with code 1 error.
Maybe something physically wrong with the Bluetooth side of the hardware ??? Anyway to confirm such without doing a full factory image restore as it took ages for me to setup the system the way I want !
I've tried, uninstalling the bluetooth device from device manager and restarting Win 8 and reinstalling device via hardware change detection Tried uninstalling Centrino driver and installing previous version of the driver
below are screenshots of what I see
My service tagged list of drivers showing Centrino Advance-N 2230 15.5.6.48 A02 driver

I have just successfully installed 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on my SR41M, along with some 64-bit sony drivers I managed to find...
However, in my device manager I am left with a single device unaccounted for, listed merely as "Base System Device". I have absolutely no idea what it is.
what driver I might need to install to resolve this..?

I installed Windows 8 x64 recently and installed all the drivers. I was pretty sure that all the devices were installed.I was having a hardware power management problem before installing Windows 8 that I was hoping was a software issue that reinstalling the OS would fix. Turns out it wasn't software, but had to have the main board replaced under warranty. Even after the main board replacement, I was still pretty sure I saw all the device drivers were installed under device manager.
I'm noticing an "unknown device" listed that doesn't have a driver installed. I know often these can be the TPM or other system device, but I have the TPM installed as well as the chipset software and power management driver. But there is still this unknown device. The only clue I have as to what the device could be is under details, the "hardware ids" property value is "rootsscbfs_storlib_bus3". A Google search brings up nothing for this string. "STORLIB" makes it seem like it has something to do with storage, but I have the Intel RST driver (11.7 from Intel) as well as the card reader driver installed. I can confirm the card reader is functioning fine too.

I was able to install and configure all drivers but one. I found a tread that suggested installing Lenovo Setting Dependency Package 2.0.0.13 to fix it on a different lenovo model. I tried it without any success.

I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates.
I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager.
Device manager lists the device in question as follows:
Device instance path: ROOTSYSTEM001
Hardware Ids: rootiwdbus
Device stack: DriverPnPManager

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Below are the hardware IDs for each error entry.

Since a few days now I get the message'The USB-device was not recognized: One of the USB-devices connected to this computer does not work correclty. The device has not been recognized'. It keeps popping up from my right corner below, every 5 seconds if I don't click it. When I click the message, I get a list of USB devices (ports) there are available. There's one 'Unknown device'. Maybe it has something to do with the finger scan (biometric)? This hasn't been working very good lately..Even when there's no single USB device installed (normally I have a mouse and a Targus laptop chill mat installed as USB devices), it keeps popping up. I tried deleting the USB port from the list (or uninstall it) in Device control, but it seems it keeps happening.
I suddenly got it, I did nothing specific of did not connect any strange devices (except for a projector on the external monitor exit, but that has nothing to do with USB). I also hear the sound for connecting and disconnecting USB devics randomly when I'm on my laptop.
