HP Envy 17 :: Does Not Allow Widows Log On
Feb 6, 2014I have just bought the HP ENVY 17. On the HP simple pass I enroled my fingerprints and attempted web log in however nothing worked. I attempted windos logon but it did not work either. The palms with fingers do not show up and now afer disabling all the options I attempted to enable windows logon again but it says tha the passord is wrong an it is not. On top of this under biometric devices it says I do not have a finger print reader.

Aug 16, 2014I just installed Windows 8 on my HDX 16 and I quickly found out the drivers for the network adapters are not installed by default. When I go to HP's website, there are no drivers for Windows 8, just Windows 7. When I tried installing windows 7 drivers, it told me it was the wrong verson. That was for the Ethernet port. For my wifi, it's telling me I need to have .net framework 2.0 or higher, and won't let me install that driver. After making sure I installed the latest version, it still doesn't detect that I have the latest .net.

Oct 21, 2013Windows 8 came with this machine, and I have had performance issues for a month now. I have just soldered on till yesterday when I kept getting different blue screens and needing to restart...now it won't restart, and so I did the press enter to get to the troubleshooting area of the hard drive....selected the quick reset option, which failed, so I came back and selected the complete reset and it gets to about 65% and stops says there was an error and requiring a restart...this happened twice...now when it restart, it is trying to do a reset again...without me asking it to.
Is this normal? Normally I physically break a computer, and never get to the point where a reset is needed...so I am truly at a loss here.
It is a W530 and has 16GB of RAM. All I run/ran on it photoshop and Lightroom, Firefox, audacity, Roxio, Avast for virus protection, an online backup service, and a program called star stacker.

Aug 30, 2014I recently reinstalled windows 7 (64 bit) on my pavilion dv6-6135dx.Problem is the system can't find drivers for the PCI device, SM Bus Controller, and two USB controllers. The yellow exclamation sign shows up next to them in device manager.Out of the 4 USB ports I have, only the two on the right side work.

HP Envy Dv6t-7200 :: Reinstalled Windows - Can't Find Bluetooth
May 20, 2013I have Envy dv6t-7200 Quad Edition notebook and I recently installed Windows 8.1.
I can't seem to find how to enable bluetooth. Some things I can narrow it down to:
1) I am pretty sure that model DOES come with bluetooth (I think I remember using it before, but not 100% sure).
I can't seem to get the specs page of this product, but I bought it directly from HP site ...
2) I downloaded and installed the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth driver and Ralink Bluetooth Software driver that I found on the HP Support & Downloads site.
3) I don't have any mention of bluetooth in my Device Manager (generic or otherwise). From first appearance it would seem I don't have bluetooth on my notebook but again, I'm pretty sure I do have.

Nov 13, 2014I'm installing Windows 7 x64 on my HP Envy 14 2090.
Setup cannot find my harddrive, presumably because a SATA driver is missing. I have tried the supplied SATA driver from HP driver download page for my model, but they don't work. I've tried various others, still no luck.
The harddrive is found by BIOS. The harddrive has been working without a hitch for years, right up until I tried a re-install.
PS: I'm not using the HP recovery DVDs, since these install all sorts of unneccessary software I don't want. (Why do all major laptop producers add this crap?)
