View 8 RepliesI have a dv6 7010 US I used to have Windows 7 with x64. I tried to install a dual-boot Ubuntu, but if it worked i wouldn't be writing this.
I tried to install Ubuntu with a live CD. I was in Ubuntu I thought it was finished installing and I rebooted the computer. When it came back on it said 'Missing Operating System.' The live CD wasn't in when it did that, then I put it back in and restarted and it went back to Ubuntu and offered to install it again. I didn't install it and i just restarted again (mistake). Again it came up with 'Missing Operating System'.
I restarted again but hit the Escape button and went to the start menu. I navigated around, trying to do a recovery boot and trying to do a system restore, but none of them worked. Now when i put the Ubuntu CD in i don't get Ubuntu, but the same Missing Operating System screen I have tried to get a download of Windows 7 and reinstall it on another disc but I didn't do it right and don't want to risk it again. I can get into a Command Window and can do stuff with that, but what to do at this point.
I cannot install any OS on my M6500 wether from USB or DVD.
I keep getting the error "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" whenever i select to install windows.
I have my 2x 250gb drives in Raid 0 but i keep getting this error all the time, any kink to a driver ?
I recently bought a HP Pavilion DV7, Product Number : LW174UA#ABA, from my friend and decided to install a new operating system onto it. My buddy didn't tell me much about what was wrong with it, other than it ran a little slow. I figured that it was cheap enough and I could easily throw Windows 7 x64 on it, instead of using Windows 8.1 x64 which he had installed on it a while ago, and use it as sort of a backup to my desktop.
I installed a new copy of Windows 7 Professional x64 on it and when the installation was complete I noticed I could not access the internet nor use the usb drives. I went into device manager and discovered that a handful of decives had the warning yellow triangle explanation symbol next to them. I quickly looked at the problem and noticed most of them had Error Code 28. This told me that I will need to install the drivers for the parts.
Okay, that shouldn't be too difficult. I found the WiFi driver and installed it. The issue was solved (temporarily) and I could access the internet.
After searching through forums I found out that my usb problem can be many different issues. I then came to the conclusion that a service pack update (since I could not find any usb drivers) should fix the issue. Nope, the usb drivers still have not been properly installed. On top of that, the internet now truns on and off. I will have access for a few seconds and then my computer tells me that I do not have any conntections.
I already went to the HP drivers site and installed most of the drivers. Things like the finger print scanner I am not too concerned with at this time so I skipped over those.
I recently purchased a new HP Pavilion DV6 notebook computer. When I first tried to use several programs on disc which I used with my previous computer I received the error message "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer system info to see whether you need an X86(32 bit) or X64(64 bit)version of the program and then contact the software publisher." My Windows button states that I have Windows 9 Internet Explorer and my system data states that I am running Windows 7.Home Premium Service Pack 1. and 64 bit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCame to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.

I burned two ISO files(Memtest86+ & latest DBAN 2.2.8 CD bootable ISO software ) onto two different blank CD-Rs on two different ocassions by using the in-built Windows burner in my system, also used Cyberlink ISO file burner/Mount as Virtual drive.

I purchased HP Pavilion 15-n209TX Laptop this year and the functions keys were working properly. But, later on from 10th of May 2014, they are not working! I checked whether there was a software due to which it was happening, but, I didn't install any kind of software which can harm the functioning of the keys. I am really struggling with very low brightness. The latest thing I did was - windows update - which installed the following softwares
Microsoft Silverlight
Also, I installed HP Quick fix.
Whenever I press F2 or F3, it just shows the slidebar (it doesn't go up and down though) and when I click on the top of the slidebar, nothing happens again. I also tried to go to the brightness option in the Windows Mobility Centre and tried to adjust the brightness - but nothing is happening.

I have in my system NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) video graphics preinstalled. I had downloaded & installed latest updates for NVIDIA i.e., nvidia graphics driver 335.23, geforce experience 2.0 & physx sytem software 9.13.1220 via hp support assistant following a software update alert 1 month back after i bought my lap.
Today i had to refresh my system due to an error in search charm not listing hp recovery manager {,following uninstall & reinstall of latest hp support assistant 1week back (details can be read from this link: Search Charm Win8.1 Error). anyway search charm error has been resolved.}
But when i checked hp support assistant today for updates, couldnt get any related to nvidia. my nvidia is still old version - nvidia graphics driver 327.02, nvidia physx system software 9.13.0604, nvidia update 1.14.17.
I'm getting update error while clicking Update on nvidia control panel in system tray icon & in nvidia settings.
when i checked nvidia website the update is there for download & also latest nvidia graphic driver update is there in HP Product website too. mine is not the version present in the website at present.
My question is should i download it from websites or should i wait till it come in support assistant. Though there is no visible issue in my system without the update that im aware of. But an update error message is showing while i click update in nvidia settings. also nvidia is not present in start up apps in task manager (or rather no graphics app is present in startup). What should i do?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have always bought Dells but am leaning more towards HP and am baffled by the fact that the CSR says I cannot get a laptop with an operating system disk for use with the laptop I am purchasing. I would gladly pay a fee for the disk as I have when I have purchased my Dells.
Is there any way (other than just purchasing the operating system outside of the the HP purchase) to have HP include a oem disk with my purchase?
I have an XPS14 from the Dell outlet (UK) which means it was pre-configured. The machine has a 500gig hard disk and a 128 ssd. I was surprised to find the o/s on the large hard disk and intend to move it. Is there anything special I should take into account (dell partitions/drivers) when I do this. As I don't have windows disks I intend to clone the system disk.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1535 laptop that was given to me as a gift. It included Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit...
I want to use the 64-bit version (it's an option when you initially buy the laptop), but Dell does not seem to have an option to order replacement OS recovery disks...
Is there any way I can get hold of the 64-bit Vista Home Premium recovery disks for the Dell Studio 1535, or at least somehow install the 64-bit version using my existing 32-bit product key?..
From what I have read I am under the impression that new Dell systems often are delivered with many unnecessary programs that use system resources and slow down the computer.
I will be receiving a new Latitude E6400 with Vista Ultimate in the next few days and I am unsure whether or not I should reinstall the operating system or leave it as is.
I have an XPS 14z, which has been owned for a mere 10 months. And well, yesterday I went ahead and formatted and re-installed the Windows 7 64-bit Operating System. It seemed to install fine and booted to the desktop. I then had to leave the house to run some errands, so I shut the laptop down. When I came back, I went to turn on my laptop. The Dell screen popped up, but then right after appeared a black screen reading "Operating System Missing". And well, I have been at it trying to fix this issue all day long! I have already ran the diagnostic tests, and they all were passed. So far I have tried the following to no avail:
1.) Booted Windows Disc --> reinstalled Windows = Same Problem
2.) Booted Windows Disc --> "Repair Your Computer" --> "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "bootrec /FixMBR" and "bootrec /FixBoot" = Both said successful, restarted, only to run into same problem
3.) "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "chkdsk d: /f/r" = "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"
4.) "Command Prompt" --> after "X:Sources>" typed in "bootrec /rebuildbcd" = "Successfully scanned Windows installations. Total identified Windows installations: 0 The operation completed successfully."
I am owner of Acer Notebook Aspire E1-430. 13 months old and Operating System not found!
