HP Pavilion Dv6 Display :: Cannot Adjust Brightness Of Display Using Fn Keys Or Control Panel
Nov 10, 2011
I cannot adjust the brightness of my display using the Fn keys or the Control Panel... I have already had to replace my battery once... I need to be able to adjust the brightness in order save my battery life!
I can't adjust screen brightness using either function key or in control panel. Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x
I m using HP Pavillion N208TX with windows 8.1 64 bit version. i m not able to adjust screen brightness from f2 and f3 button and from the power setting also. when i press these buttons it shows the slider to adjust the brightness on top left corner of the screen but its does not adjust the brightness from low to high. i have already updated the Intel HD Graphic driver...
I just bought HP 14-g003AU Notebook PC.. but i have stucked to adjust screen brightness.. I installed Windows 7 64 bit OS..
My adjust screen brightness is missing.. I have tried to download VGA driver (AMD Catalyst). But it doesn't work either..
Uninstall Generic PnP Driver Moniter and install again.. not work Uninstall Standard VGA Graphic Adapter.. and install again.. not work.. Try to update automatically Display adapter.. not work.. Update Windows 7.. Not work Reformat OS.. not work. Update LAtest BIOS.. not work ..
I can't change my laptop brightness neither with F2 and F3 keys nor in the settings. I have already updated all my drivers but still have no response when adjusting brightness. I have an hp pavilion sleekbook 15-b102sp
I have a Pavilion dv6-6173cl laptop. It's been working fine until recently, when I left it on overnight to finish downloading a huge file. When I tried to adjust the brightness the next morning, I couldn't (though it was still at full brightness like I always keep it). So I thought, "why not reboot it?" I rebooted and now the display is the dimmest it can get with no way of adjusting the brightness using the brightness keys, control panel, or otherwise.
This has happened before. When it did, I did a factory reset on it and it fixed the problem. However, although there is no absolutely critical data on there and I can always make a backup, I prefer to not have to go through all that if it's avoidable. I have an external display that HP asked me to connect it to to see if it was a hardware or software issue. The external display was at full brightness, so when they asked me to ship it in I did a factory reset and that solved the problem. And now it's back.
Brightness Hot Keys are not working after installing Win 8.1 x64. Along with this Touchpad Lock also not working. I am using Pavillion G6 2225TU Note Book x64 bit.
I have a HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC. It recently just downloaded the new HP Assistant and I wanted to adjust the brightness because it was too bright for the dark room I was in. I tried using the F2 and F3 keys to lower the brightness and I tried to adjust it from settings and control panal but the brightness doesn't adjust when I move it up or down. I tried shutting down my computer and restarting it but I still can't adjust the brightness.
Brightness is stable and the keys of btightness up and down are not working or can say that not changes the screen brightness. since so long and due to this the battrey backup is affacted..Having windows 7 ultimate 32 bit..
I have a HP 1000-1405TU Notebook PC. My Notebook Product ID is D9H61PA#UUF. I am using Windows 7, 64 bit version. I tried using the F2 and F3 keys to lower the brightness and I tried to adjust it from settings and control panal but the brightness doesn't adjust when I move it up or down. (Note. When I use Windows 8 on this PC then there is no problem like that).
I have a zbook with a nvidia quadro 610m graphics. I cannot get the gpu to save settings or engage when playing games. It was working until I tried to give windows 8 a try.I did a fresh install of windows 8. Then I installed the hp drivers cd that came with workstation. Everything says it completed successfully and I've rebooted multiple times.
When I open the nvidia control panel, none of the settings I change stick. E.g. tell every program to use the 610m. I click apply it looks like it was successful. However, if I open the nvidia control panel again, all changes are reverted. I restarted after hitting apply too. It doesnt matter what the changes are, they all revert.
I'm guessing I screwed up with the driver install or something but IDK.The device manager says that the 610m is working properly and the driver is up do date.
I changed my operating system from WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 32 BIT TO WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT,and the problem is after changing OS my laptop is not displaying Brightness bar. Brightness is increasing and decreasing but it is not showing bright bar.
Any driver i have to install ? if required then driver download link.
I noticed the display automatically adjust its brightness when I open different webpages with different color background, which I'd rather it not do. How to disable this dynamic adjustment?
I want to install AMD Video Driver and Control Panl alongside with Intel Video Driver and Control Panel.

I'm having the same trouble with my brand new 8460p : the brightness of the display can not be adjusted with the function keys (fn+F-keys) while in Windows. In other threads the problem has been solved by installing newest chipset drivers (which was not provided by HP), but in these threads the computer has been an earlier model. 8460p has the new QM67 express chipset and currently I'm running the latest drivers (according to intel's detection web site) for it.
I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit with all the latest drivers.
Suddenly I can't change my screen brightness with f2 and f3, and neither in control panel. Is there a new driver I need to install ? My product number is > G6S71UA#ABA
I recently received a new laptop at work (a few of us have) and we are all having the same issue with this laptop. The function keys F8 and F9, which are labeled to control screen brightness, are not working. I have searched many forums and I cannot find a fix.

The screens are so dim it's hard to see the content on them.
The HP dv4-1548dx laptop computer has keys to adjust the display brightness of the LCD display but no keys to adjust the contrast. "Operating system Windows 7" How can I adjust the Contrast ?
