I have installed the latest driers and since then I am unable to change the screen brightness using function keys. I have installed multiple driver updates hence it is difficult to find out which driver is causing the issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having the same trouble with my brand new 8460p : the brightness of the display can not be adjusted with the function keys (fn+F-keys) while in Windows. In other threads the problem has been solved by installing newest chipset drivers (which was not provided by HP), but in these threads the computer has been an earlier model. 8460p has the new QM67 express chipset and currently I'm running the latest drivers (according to intel's detection web site) for it.
I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit with all the latest drivers.

I recently downgraded my G710 from Windows 8 (which it came with), to Windows 7. The only issue I've noticed is that it does not display anything on screen when you use the function keys, such as the volume up or down, or bright ness up or down. The keys work, but it would be nice to see on screen that my volume is set at 2% vs say 100% when I'm turning it up or down.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI much prefer to use the function keys AS FUNCTION KEYS. I don't want the default to be fast forward or rewind or stop or sound options. I want f2 to be f2 (edit excel cell) and so on. Currently I press fn EVERY time. It's annoying.
Is there a way of changing the defualt key to be what was originally intended? HP has made finding this information impossible so far.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems as if the first time after I restart my laptop (Dell inspiron 7000 series, windows 8.1) and I attempt to use the volume/ backlight toggle/ brightness/ etc keys found on the F keys on my keyboard, I can use them pretty much freely. The problem is after I close my laptop for the first time since restarting I then have to hold the Fn button to use them. It can be very annoying at times considering you eventually get used to holding the Fn key, so after the first time using them since restarted you end up hitting F4/5/6 etc instead of changing the brightness or whatever setting you are trying to change. I was wondering if there was some type of setting where I can make these keys permanently free to use as opposed to having to hold the Fn keys after the first time the laptop is in sleep mode.

For example - Fn + Brightness^ - will increase brightness but with no graphic showing what the current brightness level is.
Any way to get this useful feature back?
I cannot adjust the brightness of my display using the Fn keys or the Control Panel... I have already had to replace my battery once... I need to be able to adjust the brightness in order save my battery life!

I've recently bought an HP Probook430 and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and I don't seem to be able to change the display brightness, using the fn button+f9/f10 (although volume settings are changed in the same method smoothly).
Although the brightness settings don't seem to change, this bar does appear when pressing fn+f9/f10. What should I do in order to make the display brightness settings changable?
I have a Lenovo G480 that runs on windows 7 64 bit. I reformatted it and i noticed that when i perform a fn+key the display notification no longer shows. It works though but i wanted to see the display notification on the screen every time i perform i do fn+key.

Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x
For some reason I can't change my screen brightness anymore. I've already tried a HD 4000 driver rollback to version 9.17.10.3223 and I also disabled "adaptive screen brightness" at the power management. For some reason I can change the brightness by using the "microsoft basic display adapter" driver instead of the HD 4000 but that isn't a real solution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem.
The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
